NBK: "We know how to face [NiP]"

We caught up with a happy Nathan "NBK" Schmitt after another big victory over NiP in the semi-final of ESWC 2013.

VeryGames continued their impressive run of form by defeating Ninjas in Pyjamas once again at a big tournament, this time knocking the Swedes out in the semi-final with a 2-0 victory.

Nevertheless it was a very interesting clash with a lot of clutch rounds, including several by Schmitt himself. He takes us through the two maps, as well as his big 1-on-3 with a fiveseven that saved VG in the second map.

He also touches on the other side of the bracket, where Clan-Mystik defeated Astana Dragons 2-1, and looks ahead to the French final tomorrow on the main stage.

Hopefully they'll not get too confident and relax, as NiP once knew how to face VeryGames, as well... VG will most likely take everything this year. By then, I hope NiP gets rid of Fifflaren.

Imo they should not get rid of fifflaren. Recently fifflaren is preforming really well mainly bcs he switched focus on rifles again instead of learning the awp. Also something to be noted was the gtr was like sick or something. I was at eswc and like 1hr prior to the match gtr was looking so pale and was laying on the ground trying to get some rest. It was like he could puke any minute. But he played and preformed really well. This is no excuse however for the loss. But it gives me big respect for him and the whole NiP team. The only truth is teams are picking up and we should not be shouting for an era of one team but enjoy the fact we have these close and fun matches rather then just stomps

What the hell are you talking about ? You argued that based on the past results, VG doesn't know how to play Clan-Mystik. I don't know for you, but in my opinion, winning two bo3 out of three and getting a map in the other is more than enough to demonstrate that they do know how to play them. Also, you will notice that it wasn't a 16-14 every time. VG even gave CM a spanking on the main stage on de_season : 16-1. Just a thought.

French people are usually lazy when it comes to pronunciation in foreign languages. That's why we can spot them easily anywhere in the world. Everyone knows their thick accent, in any language I think.

I wouldn't say bringing in Delpan would be No.1 again, but maitaining the current roster would no longer work that's for sure.I'm also sure nip already knew what they were gonna do,maybe even have made a decision, the change is mostly likely to be announced after DH winter. So,altough I'm a little disapointed about the results but I'm also happy about it.This time was not Fifflaren holding the team back though. But overall,he's guy should be out the team.

Beg to differ, you may check the stats.Fiff is now back on his former role as a rifler. But last event he was still at the bottom of the scoreboard. This time maybe forest. My point is now that he's playing his most comfortable role in game, still, hasn't measured up to the expectations ,not even close. His former CSS experience helped hime clinch a spot in nip.But as other team are catching up,nip is facing the unprecedented challenge, his advantage has faded away. His position as a member of a top3 team is no longer suitable.

Huh? Just today fifflaren is stepping up his game while get_right and f0rest really get our hopes up and failed it (we're expecting dosia-level kind of carrying play). Fifflaren did manage to improve is aim to a decent level although I find his ingame sense still lower compared to other 4. I constantly finding him outfragging people ingame today. Did you even watch the game? NiP is lacking strategy, everything else is great except their strategy. VG won not only their team consist of 3 aimstar player but ex6tenz and smithz is stepping up, and VG is actually adjusting themself to change. They're not changing lineup and it works so why won't NiP?

He did seem to improve and shine in some moments. But that's not enough for a team like NIP.Even if forest would maitain his role as the chief awp, there's plenty of good riflers out there is Swedes.Think about it,only the real talents can survive in the top teams of every sport.Maybe he's a decent player in a lower-ranking team, but he's definitely not the guy nip wants.Hitory has proved in a situation like this, changing lineup is the only remedy(even sometimes arguably not the right way),but all teams did that,do that, and, will keep doing it...

its all mind games atm. We are experiencing the ebbs and flows of a great rivalry, that in its history, still heavily favors NiP. I think NiP and VG are going to go toe 2 toe for a while, I don't think either will pull away from the other. Which would be really fucking great for spectators.

I like NBK but rly interview someone else once in a while... Also NBK in the end started to defend old mirage because they were so good on it??? Please discuss. Anyway great job Tgwri1s hopefully we'll see more soon:)

The problem is that you can't force someone to be interviewed. NBK is the one who is really fluent in English. The others can speak it, but since it's not easy to speak a language you don't master in a casual conversation, I would understand why they don't want to be interviewed hesitating, stammering, trying to find their words, etc... I think I remember an interview from Shoxie though, he was quite comfortable speaking in English if I remember correctly. Even if he has a thick accent.

Actually I think all of them can talk it good enough to do interviews, Smithzz probably would do 1, I doubt he's shy.

really have to take my hat off to ex6tenz. He is redefining the role of the caller/support player. I thought his lack of fragging would prevent VG from being no1, but he is proving event after event just how important the intangibles are. Basically, a passionate caller/leader can be a bigger contributor to winning then a star player. We have seen it before ofc, there have been amazing caller/leaders like carn/rambo/ave/xeqtr, but im not sure if there has been a weaker fragging caller as x6tenz, which makes all his other qualities aweasome. considering these recent results, im not sure if kennys or VG lost out in the end. TBH, i call it a draw.

NBK wanted to say: "we just rush wherever fifflaren covers so we get an easy entry to the bombsites, thats all you need to win against NiP".
