WGG in trouble for DH Winter

We Got Game have indicated that they may have to pull out of DreamHack Winter due to financial issues.

The French team secured a spot in DreamHack Winter's $250,000 tournament after reaching the grand final of the online qualifier, organised by FACEIT, together with LGB eSports.

FACEIT will cover all the travelling costs for these two teams, but We Got Game still find themselves at a stalemate as they have no organisation to back them up.

As such, Kenny "kennyS" Schrub's side are looking for some support to be able to attend the Swedish event. With WGG being such a strong side and DH Winter being the biggest CS:GO tournament yet, chances are that they will find an organisation in such short notice.

"We Got Game have had no structure for a while, we wanted to find a new organisation but we could not do it without knowing whether we would be able to attend DH Winter," Vincent "Happy" Cervoni told vakarm.net.

"Now we do, and we managed to get a place in the most prestigious event of the year, the airline tickets are paid for, but that does not mean that we have the budget to go.

"Everyone interested in supporting a French team to go to Sweden can contact us at [email protected]."

We Got Game, who recently added Mathieu "Maniac" Quiquerez to their lineup, have been drawn in the same group as Ninjas in Pyjamas, UniversalSoldiers and iBUYPOWER.

The French team's lineup looks as follows:

France Vincent "Happy" Cervoni
France Robin "GMX" Stahmer
France Kenny "kennyS" Schrub
France Kévin "Uzzziii" Vernel
Switzerland Mathieu "Maniac" Quiquerez

the traveling costs will be taken care of, so all they'd need is food and maybe a hotel. if they are seriously not attending DHwinter I will be angry :(

Even if they loose all the matches, they still win $2000! This will more than enough cover any hotel/traveling costs since the plane tickets are payed already. I think they mostly just want to find new organization so that their future is covered.

You probably mean that you can lend them something, cause in the middle of financial issues I'd understand why they wouldn't need someone borrowing something from them ^^.

It looks that way. Been a few years sins i've attended a lan, and can't really remember how much i had to pay. But if i got(won) a paid trip, i could probaly find some money on my own to cover food and sleeping arrangements. The group they are in looks like they have a fair chance to move on from groupstage. Can someone give an estimated price, on what it will take for a person to pay the rest themselvs, compaired to the prices ? :) Because i can understand, if it cost too much.

I passed their situation along to several marketing contacts I have that might be interested... however they waited until the very last second, which makes this almost impossible. Crowdfunding\a gaming organization backing them is probably their only shot.

I would personally pay my own budget if I had a team that got airline tickets won to dreamhack finals.... I mean, take a risk if you wanna play, not everything comes for free. I had a band once and we got this gig at another city but we could not afford to transport all the equipment, so we literally just Jamed together with the drums and all in ONE car, no space left and drove over there illegaly... But that kinda shows how much you can do if you just really want something.

They can't sleep in the sleeping area at DH like thousands of other gamers do? They can't go to the supermarket and buy regular food as opposed to restaurant food? They don't eat food back in France, or what am I missing here? They don't have parents, friends and relatives to support them with a few hundred dollars in total? Getting a paid trip to a $250 000 tournament and possibly not being able to go due to the lack of money is beyond any logic.

They have airline tickets, all they need is some food money and a place to sleep and they can't pay from their own pocket? 1) They should have money, they aren't some 3rd worlders. 2) Considering the prize pool, borrow the money from your parents or whatever omg

That's what I wanted to hear. I love you guys. Now, Maniac and everyone else play just as well as you played vs mouz and you can make it very far. Being a german this is what I expect of you: Make it to the semi finals so later I can pretend "yeah mouz didn't make it because they faced a team that made it to the semi-finals in the biggest CSGO event ever" Now go go guys!

"Giving up is not an option, even if we havé to pay it all by ourselves." so pay it yourselves? sorry but too many fucking teams go around begging for money. you deserve a sponsor more than most, but teams shouldn't be going around begging for money from people like this. especially when there's no mention of paying anything back if you win any.
