VG, fnatic top groups in Beijing

VeryGames and fnatic have topped their respective groups at MSI Beat it! to advance to semi-finals. Vox Eminor, Nface, SK Gaming and Legends move on to quarter-finals.

MSI Beat it! uses the old Intel Extreme Masters format where the group winners advance directly to the playoffs while the second and third place finishers face off in the quarter-finals.

The world's best team, VeryGames, had a perfect record in group stage as they finished 5-0 without giving up double digit rounds in any of their encounters en route to a guaranteed top four finish.

More CS will take place on this stage starting tomorrow morning

fnatic weren't much worse as they also took down each of their opponents, including fellow countrymen SK Gaming, but had close games against the Swedes and Vietnamese Legends.

Advancing from group A were also Aussies Vox Eminor and Chinese Nface, while fnatic and Legends rounded up the top six by securing top three finishes in group B, setting up the playoff bracket:

13:00 China Nface vs. Sweden SK Gaming QF1
13:00 Vietnam Legends
vs. Australia Vox Eminor QF2
06:00 France VeryGames vs. winner of QF1
06:00 Sweden fnatic
vs. winner of QF2
10:00 Third place decider
10:00 Grand final

Both quarter-finals are scheduled to kick off at 13:00 today, while both semi-finals and the grand final are scheduled to take place tomorrow starting at 06:00 .

HLTV.org is on-site in Beijing, China to bring you full coverage of MSI Beat it! 2013 grand finals as it unfolds and the final six teams compete for the grand prize of $10,000 and five MSI laptops.

Maybe, but verygames also won't lose vs SK or Nface. Vox Eminor and Legends both looked stronger than Nface, and I think both of them would be able to beat SK. So fnatics way to the final won't be easier than verygames'.

wow thats some genius logic there mate. This is the most obvious thing in the world sk will beat nface and sk will face VG which at least they have chances of beating, in the other hand fnatic will face those top1000 teams that dont even have chances against fnatic and wont even win more than 6 rounds

Legends already got 11 rounds against fnatic in the group stage. And almost beat SK on train. Asian teams aren't as bad as you describe them. Come on..

Well isn't that obvious? Considering Asia & Oceania doesn't have the calibre of players that Europe does most of the results were expected. Considering that almost all of these teams did better than the unknown teams that attended ESWC and got smashed 16-1/16-4 etc

I'm referring to the whole specter: Amount of players, tourneys, production value of tourneys and professional skill level. From a spectator's perspective, this must've been the worst international tourney in CS:GO. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting Dreamhack quality when tuning in, but it's quite clear that you need to focus on broadcasting your event in the most professional way possible if you want to catch the audience. EMS (ESL) did it greatly last time and peaked at 50k viewers even though it wasn't a major tourney (not perfectly comparable to this, but a great example nonetheless).

vg over sk, fnatic over their semi-opponent, vg over fnatic. don't see any real surprises coming here, but i didn't see the games this morning due to the timezone differences so i wouldn't really know what to expect beyond the three big names.

why were the intial groups set up so retardedly? All the teams who won their respected qualifiers were in group A, shouldn't it be mixed up? Or was it just and wierd draw?

So both quarter final at the same time. Both semi at the same time. Small and grand final at the same time. From beginning till the end, this event is a fail.

Europeans pwned asians easily. VG, fnatic, SK will be the top3 in that order. The game needs to be more popular in the azn market if they want to achieve anything in csgo.
