VeryGames win MSI Beat it! 2013

VeryGames have added another trophy to their cabinet after winning MSI Beat it! 2013 by defeating fnatic in the final 2-0 (16-12 on de_dust2 & 16-10 on de_mirage), securing themselves a $10,000 prize.

The second day of MSI Beat it! 2013 started with two semi-final matches, first of which saw fnatic take down Australia's Vox Eminor 2-0 (16-6 on de_inferno & 16-3 on de_mirage).

In the other match, which took place on the stage, VeryGames also had little work to do against SK Gaming who eventually fell 16-8 on de_nuke and 16-7 on de_dust2.

Fnatic and VG then waited around three hours for the final, as a DotA match was taking place on the stage, and after that they started their clash for $10,000 on de_dust2.

shox fared well on the main stage

VeryGames opened up with a flawless pistol ace by Richard "shox" Papillon and went up 5-0 early on the CT side, but fnatic started coming back by stringing four in a row, including a great 2-on-4 by Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg and the new addition Markus "pronax" Wallsten.

The next few rounds went to VG, and Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux's had an important 1-on-1 clutch to keep the momentum on his team's side.

The half ended 10-5 in favor of the French-Belgian squad, and as soon as the sides changed, Papillon took matters into his own hands again and incredibly recorded another pistol ace.

That didn't clinch the match for his team though, as the Swedes immediately responded by winning an eco after a couple kills from Jesper "jw" Wecksell and a triple from Wallsten.

Fnatic eventually reduced the deficit all the way to 12-13, but Kevin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans' squad reacted on time and closed the map off 16-12.

fnatic lost all pistol rounds but still hung on in both maps

Moving on to de_mirage, VeryGames once again took the pistol, this time starting on the T-side. After the necessary anti-ecos by fnatic, several rounds were exchanged as the ESWC runner-ups went up 6-2.

Nevertheless, fnatic found the strength to overturn their fortunes, as they won all seven rounds until the end of the half for a 9-6 advantage.

Another lost pistol round cost them the hard-earned lead, giving away the momentum and seeing VG get back up, 10-9.

The Swedes finally won their first T-side round for 10-10, but their economy was immediately reset which they were unable to recover from until the end of the match, as VeryGames clinched a 16-10 victory for the overall triumph at MSI Beat it! 2013 and a $10,000 cheque.

Ex6TenZ was the first to lift the new trophy

Yea, I swapped between SLTV and 99DMG. Although I couldn't understand the languages for shit, it was still more enjoyable! Anders did a great job, but even he can't cover up for the weak production value... He gave it his best though, all props to him!

SK looking very weak right now...I hope DHW won't be another rapefest for VG, since I doubt CM will be able to meet them, and CPH/n! are a step short of being able to beat them. At least I have a chance to win in the guess top 3 giveaway :)

Astana can beat them. And NiP of course can too. I think Na'Vi have been doing pretty decently lately as well. Starix has really stepped up his game since edward and markeloff left. But yeah in general VG are looking virtually unbeatable at the moment. I would give them a 65% edge over astana and probably a 55% edge over NiP. Any other team beating them I would consider an upset.

if you take the laptops into account ... about 18.000$ for VG. a nice little pocket money and also a good warmup for dreamhack. guess they have their flights back tonight, so they will be back in europe late this evening/tomorrow morning. then relax on monday, do a few praccs or just a little DM on tuesday and fly to sweden on wednesday to rape the shit out of everyone. or just go straight to sweden and rape even harder. :o edit yep, should be here 5:40 tomorrow moring: aeroportsdeparis.fr/ADP/en-GB/Passagers/..

No surprise there, Fnatic just haven't been up to snuff this fall. I am a bit surprised that SK managed to take down Voxe though; they really didn't show up throughout this tournament, and haven't been showing up these past couple months. Gg wp to all teams involved, and congrats to Voxe on making semis in their first international LAN. Some might say they came 4th out of the only 4 decent teams there, but Legends were looking very strong and Voxe beat them handily. Speaking of, I'm excited to see Legends in more international events, should they have the financial backing; they played quite well, and took double-digits against both SK and Fnatic.

One can only hope with their results at this event, they'll be able to attract a few sponsors.

I actually traveled through Vietnam for a month, and I can't imagine that there's enough sponsor money to fund a 5-man team in a niche e-sport game to travel across the globe. It's certainly a growing economy and they're reasonably developed, so maybe they'll come around in 10-15 years.

I was thinking more in the way of international/regional sponsors, like hardware companies. I doubt there are many Vietnamese sponsors available for a CS:GO team.

I wasn't just talking about domestic sponsors. Majorly sponsoring a Vietnamese CS team is hardly financially viable for neither a domestic nor an international company. I guess the only hope for them is that some hardware or gaming company could want to have an edge on the others and obtain a solid market share and then hope for a "boom" in both CS interest and the demand of gaming related products, but from my perspective that would be irrational.

they did get money plus travel support for winning their qualifier. + if you consider that fnatic lost all 4 pistol rounds the scores are not that bad (allthough i expected them to take a map or even win out aswell)

There were some really close rounds on dust2, fnatic could've taken it. Don't know if they would be able to take the bo3, but can definitely take a map. DHW is going to be insane.

Just awesome by VG. I appreciate all those Pros more or less personally and Respekt their Achievements. I mean some you tend to like and some not, but Verygames is one of those Teams that seem to be through the Bank straight cool and ofcourse awesome in Terms of gaming as a professional Team. It's the same Case with NIP for example, that Team is full of cool straight Dudes, but their Dominance over so many months was just unexciting to follow at a specific Point. CS is alive, we are alive, cool Thing I would say. ^^
