Druidz disband; ALTERNATE lose two

Druidz have announced that their female CS:GO division has called it quits, with ALTERNATE losing two of their players at the same time.

The news comes as a huge surprise as only earlier in the month Druidz had been crowned world champions after winning the ESWC finals over ALTERNATE.

In a stunning move, Julia "juliano" Kiran, Therese "lillsan" Petersson and Sonia "Sonia" Garcia have decided to create a new team from scratch and parted company with French duo Mathilde "Sephi" Koenig and Laure "CeleN" Denivelle.

Druidz are no more

Replacing these two players are Zainab "zAAz" Turkie and Irene "iRene" Sánchez, both from ALTERNATE. This is without a doubt a heavy blow for the Copenhagen Games champions, who have lost their two most experienced players.

"The reason that iRene and I left ALTERNATE is because of a lot of stuff that happened in the team," Turkie told HLTV.org.

"I do not want to mention exactly what, but the only thing I can say is that, in my opinion, if you are in a team you have to respect everyone and make some room to practice during your spare time.

"I don't like to hear that you want to do something else than practie when you have an event to look forward to, I know everyone has a life outside the game but if you decide to play in a team it means you have to practice and lose some of your free time.

"I am that kind of person who would rather spend that time practicing and some of the members of my ex-team did not share that same point of view.

"Since we had been playing together for such a long time, I felt the only thing that could make me keep playing was to make a new team with the best female players. That was the only way for me to get my motivation back, I had to play with people who have the same point of view as me.

"We are searching for a good and serious organisation who is willing to have a great female team to represent them. If there is someone out there who is interested, you can contact me @ https://www.facebook.com/OfficialzAAz.

"We have also created this lineup with a view to taking on male teams, we will try to attend as many "male" tournament as possible. Female teams have to start somewhere, right?

"I would also want to thank ALTERNATE's organisation for everything they have done, I can't say anything more than it's a great organisation! Thank you.

This new female team, who will temporarily go by the name RiP, have the following roster:

Sweden Julia "juliano" Kiran
Sweden Therese "lillsan" Petersson
Sweden Zainab "zAAz" Turkie
Spain Irene "iRene" Sánchez
Spain Sonia "Sonia" Garcia

ALTERNATE have now been reduced to the following three-woman lineup:

Germany Melanie "beyoNd" Gutsche
Germany Kathleen "kathi" Letsch
Germany Lena "shushu" Babic

+1 for this statement from her. I can't understand why are they seperated in a GAME where your gender doesn't matter... It's not football or any other sport where separation is ok. Girls are always crying for equality. Thank god this girl is on the right way. 1-2 years and girl gamers will be on the mans level.

Good line up girls but don't have so high expectations for the male scene. The best female team = avarage male team, hope you prove me I'm wrong tho! Good luck at DHW if you are going to attend it, also hope you get a stable orga. :>

I don't get why people say the female teams have no chance in the male tournaments? I'm pretty sure their new lineup would have a good chance. Just because they are female doesn't mean they are incapable of playing a game to a high standard and are incapable of using effective strats. I would love to see more female teams like this one competing in all events maybe someday the big events will be mixed sex and all these idiots claiming the female gamers wouldn't stand a chance will get 16-0. Besides Druidz showed how good their players actually are at ESWC, I would quite happily say a few if the females at that event would easily fit into any of the top male teams at the moment.

I would feel AWESOME to see a female team even qualify to one of the big tournaments, let alone win some matches in the group stage and get to the brackets! But I don't think it's possible. The tournaments have ALWAYS been open to females, there are no rules forbidding female teams/players to attend and some have even tried. They just can't get through the qualifiers. It's just that, as HellRose said, the best female teams are about as good as an average or a little above average male team... I just saw others try and fail, that's it. They're not the first to try it, believe me. And although everyone's talking about equality because the game doesn't require physical strength, yes - it doesn't require brute force but it does require a fast reaction and that's a difference between males and females that I don't think can be overcome. Let's just wait and see, hope they prove me wrong. I'd love to watch their matches against male teams and see some victories :)

It is the truth. Female can't compete even with sub-par male teams and they've never been able to compete against decent male teams in the history of Counter Strike. Do they have potential? Yes. There is no disadvantages for women compared to men because eSports is not physical but in the history of Counter Strike there's been zero female teams that could've been even close to to the top male teams.

I foresee many (figurative) rapes of this new line-up against male sub-top teams, at first the "we learned a lot" mindset... then when it keeps happening : frustration and tensions.. then arguing, and finally split of line-up and a lot of dissappointment and regrets. Remember Icarus, know your limits, you should have tried to keep your Womens World Champions title.
