fnatic ease past CM to top Group A

fnatic are through to the DreamHack Winter playoffs following a comfortable 16-6 victory over Clan-Mystik.

Clan-Mystik got off to an almost perfect start here, shutting down the middle area when fnatic were rushing in and losing just one player in the process. The first anti-eco round went to the Frenchmen, and after that fnatic decided to go for a full buy, hoping to surprise their opponents, but their plans boomeranged as they were completely outgunned in middle.

Since A was not working out for them, fnatic tried to find their way into the B site, and for the first time in this match they were able to break through CM's defense. This bombsite actually turned out to be the French team’s weakness as neither Jeremy "ioRek" Vuillermet nor Michael "HaRts" Zanatta were able to stop fnatic’s rushes or even trade some kills. It is no wonder then, how the Swedes gained control of the match and strung nine rounds together.

schneider & co on their way to the playoffs

CM’s biggest issue at this point was that they were being largely outplayed by fnatic’s players every round. Dan "apEx" Madesclaire’s impressive three kills in the apartment area in the 14th round then came as a wakeup call for the French team, who were able to reduce the deficit to 6-9.

fnatic were able to pick up where they had left off and further enlarged their lead by winning the pistol round. Instead of saving their money, CM went for full buys twice in a row, without any success. Now down 6-12 and with no money in the bank, the French team had a mountain to climb, but fnatic never really had a foot wrong as they walked out 16-6 winners here to go through to the playoffs.

Really surprised to see Fnatic playing this well. Guess that 2nd place finish at MSI Beat It boosted their morale.

From what i have seen so far Fnatic have been polishing up their play since last tournament. Nice solid defense, well balanced spawn tactics and nice anti-strats. This makes them a bit unpredictable which is always a good thing.Keep up!
