ENCE disqualified from SLTV

Following their inability to play three scheduled matches tonight, Finnish ENCE have been disqualified from SLTV StarSeries VIII.

ENCE were sitting at the bottom of the SLTV StarSeries VIII rankings with one win and a tie in six games. The Finns most recently fell short against Nostalgie 14-16 and Clan-Mystik 8-16.

They were scheduled to face mousesports, Natus Vincere and USSR tonight, but team captain Joona "natu" Leppänen announced via Twitter they wouldn't be able to play due to Finland's independence day.

Over on StarLadder's website, the crew behind the tournament has released a statement explaining that US and k1ck will receive BYE wins from their matches versus ENCE, and that they hope to see ENCE again one day.

Coming up next for ENCE is LanTrek 2014, set to feature a 3,250€ prize purse in Tampere, Finland and take place on January 10-12th with even one international team set to attend.

As any pro player have, in any sport. Ence were just irresponsible, first for postponing several times so that all their matches stacked up, then for not committing to their engagement towards the SLTV league. The excuse being Independence day or a new born baby doesn't really matter. It's not like it's taking all day long to play three matches anyway.

Pretty deserved for breaking rules for the 4th time. As it is mentioned earlier, its a job for ENCE, they should've considered moving previous 3 games before the end of the season, not acting like it is ok to miss games in a row.

How is that they couldnt play it on other day? Is is the SLTV to schedule the games? Or do teams have some freedom (:p) to reschedule them? I guess this was some kind of a deadline for sltv, other way I don't understand :)

Some persons in our families have actually sacrificed their lives from our behalf. Some came back alive, but mentally crippled for rest of their lives. Maybe these things dont mean much if one is 18, but for those who have seen bit more years are very likely to in touch with the people who fought in WW2. It doesnt matter what the reasons were; only the outcome matters. How to you say for to a person that is 85-100 years old that "I cannot be there even a once a year to celebrate our independence with you, probably for the very last times due the age of these persons"? The answer is: you dont, you go and be with them. Soon they are all gone.

Loving how time before independence is brought up to this conversation. I have always found Sweden the nice neighbor and I also liked studying the language back in the days I had to. And If I had a chance to study Russian right now - I would go for it. Btw, Sommaren är kort /:
