DH unveils 2013 stats, 2014 dates

DreamHack's organisers have announced the stats from the 2013 Winter event plus the dates for all the tournaments in the 2014 circuit.

DH Winter 2013 was without a doubt the biggest tournament ever as far as CS:GO is concerned, but the other games that were played at the event also had big-name teams in attendance and impressive prize purses.

Last month's event set two new records in DreamHack's history: the total number of unique visitors, which is now set at 22,810, and the number of unique devices in the network, which is now of 17,403.

The CS:GO community also has reasons to rejoice: Day three's English stream was the second most watched DH Winter stream, on 97,804 concurrent people, only behind Dota 2's English stream from that same day, which had a peak of 103,463 users.

Meanwhile, DreamHack has announced the dates and location for the events that will take place during the course of the next year, plus the Winter and Summer for 2015. The games that will be played at each of these events will be revealed in the coming months.

That is dreamhacks reported peak on the stream. If you count with GOTV viewers it was higher.

U have to be dumb as hell, who the hell counts the numbers of streams open ??? The counting was of uniqe visitors, that means that u can open 10 streams with 1 IP and u still be counted as 1 user watching it. P.S. How do u open 2 or more games via steam ? When steam prompts an error when trying to open a second game and ask to close the 1st one ? P.P.S. Don't go full retard ...

To get a drop you needed a twitch tv account, linked with your steam account, with a valid CS:GO license. Doesn't matter if you open 200 streams, as long as you don't have 200 twitch account/steam account/cs:go license, you won't increase your chances.

It's not a huge deal, you're just a dumbass who thinks he's being smart by making money out of a system made to boost a game's visibility and popularity. I'll surely sleep comfortably tonight don't worry. But what is embarrassing about it is : 1. You seem to consider yourself smart by doing that kind of thing while you didn't actually understood how it worked. 2. You seem to be proud of what you've done. 3. You don't seem to consider that this kind of behavior is bringing down the game and the community (or you don't care). If these statements are true, I've got two words : grow up.

why would i consider my self smart from that? proud no happy with the cases hmm a lil :) but then again every 1 likes the skins a bit. bringing down the game well.. if u need to give out free stuff to get viewers. then ur bringin down the game ur self. U could ask if its made to boost the popularity or u could see it as to give Valve even more money. pretty sure They made a huge $ from all the free cases they gave away..

So convenient. So Valve brought the game down. By helping to host the first major. Right. Of course they want to make money out of CS:GO. They are a company. That's their purpose. But they could have make a lot more money without this kind of thing. They wouldn't even need to make "esports cases" or boost tournaments prize money. The only thing they would need is to release a new set of weapons every month. They already have enough players to make big money without moving a finger. But they do more than that, so I don't think they can be blamed for bringing the game down. It's so easy to blame Valve for bringing down the game and then say : "Well the game is ruined by Valve anyway, so let's take advantage of the situation.".

97,804 people to be precise. Robert (BossDH) confirmed on CSGO's reddit earlier that the reason why they don't add in other streams is that they have control to see who is on the same ip, so 97,804 was a true representation of how many "unique" people watched the DH CS Stream.

Well, tbh having 4 tabs of the same stream open didn't increase your chances. Your steamid went into a pool, and was in there only once, no matter how many tabs you had open, sandbox or not. Only having multiple steam accounts with the game on it linked would give you a higher chance. And I doubt many people have this option.

Yes and your four streams open would NOT have counted towards the stream numbers presented on the back end of Twitch which gives you a greater breakdown of statistics. DH have access to this. Also by default, if for example I have four tabs open of the same twitch channel, it still counts as 1 viewer on Twitch. No matter how you try and twist this, the unique viewers on twitch is an accurate representation.

Dude, it's a public IP address which is used for identification, not a private IP address... If for example you have three computers for one internet access, all of these computers will count as one public IP address. Private IP addresses are not made to be used outside of your network. So unless you had a different Internet access for each of your cs:go account, I'm afraid you gave yourself some trouble for pretty much nothing.

No, I must admit that reading the same guy bragging about how he made some pocket money and thinking that putting smileys after his sentences make what he writes look smart, wasn't really enjoyable. So yes, I skipped some of your posts. Next time you try to bypass a system, I suggest you make some research before wasting money and resources uselessly. But hey glad for you man. You had your drops. A damn great achievement I must say, considering the huge amount of drops I've seen. Other than that, I hope you enjoyed the tournament (assuming you watched the games).

Cuz u must agree on this EVERY human being loves free stuff. and how can it be wasting money when other people pay for it :)? as they buy the skins/cases all. tournament wasnt the best. esl tourney was better IMO.

It's wasting Valve's and DreamHack's resources, you have no idea how this kind of tournaments are hard to setup and maintain. It also devalues the drops, which were supposed to be won a fair way. By cheating like this the number of drops increases and therefore their value decreases, because of that, many people who intended to sell the drop lose some of the money they could have made with it. Just because some people thought they deserved to get more than others. The usual human nature right ? Actually no, I don't love free stuff. I simply don't mind it. And if you know what the stuff in question is worth, there is no reason to love free stuff. The only kind of free stuff you can love is the kind you get from your friends and family. These are gifts, and people paying for it are doing it because they care for the person. If something has a mercantile value, and you get it without paying its price, it means someone or something else is paying it for you. Sometimes, the person or company paying it for you even makes you pay by other means, by throwing advertisement or using your personal data for example (facebook, youtube, etc...). Sometimes the plan is to make others pay for your stuff, without them knowing it like the pyramid scheme. Don't love free stuff. Understand where it's coming from, what/who pays for it and what conditions you need to fulfill to get it.

valve loved it no worrys. nothing waste from them. they got all there % of the cases that has been sold. so there fine. Meh had a long story typed like u but basicly i could of can say this in a few words. i dont care about people that i dont know. lifes to short to care about every 1 :) so i dont care who deserved what or who didnt deserve it. in life its not Always the people that deserve stuff that get it. most times its the people that dont deserve it that get things :)

Yuh, and there was more people watching over their friend shoulders like mine were than people running 4 computers to fool steam (god those people are so smart!). Dude if your so awesome why can't you make more than 20$ per 3 day event the guy holding the door open got 10x that and he got to watch live.

Really killing me with the USA Thanksgiving DHW dates. If that indeed becomes the one big end of year, max prizepool, championship event. I had to try desperately not to spoil it for myself as I navigated through the stream archives 3-4 days after everything was concluded. Quite a challenge

Haha I feel you there man. The plus side is being able to skip through all bs between maps/matches. But not spoiling it for yourself can be kinda hard.

Ok for the sake of the argument let's see the logic for ourselves. 'only 100k in dota stream?with those players?lel' next argument 'still a pretty low numbr' 'let me put this way,500k not unique players(probably like 2 or 3 millions players) 200k watching a stream?lOL' then you come out of your way to talk to me, even though ur probably as fucking retarded as the mongoloid I was talking to before? pz
