Apply for a non-EU spot at EMS One

The Electronic Sports League has opened up the application process for the two non-EU spots for the EMS One event at IEM Katowice.

From March 13th-16th, the ESL will be hosting a CS:GO tournament under the wings of the IEM event in the Polish city of Katowice that will boast a whopping prize purse of $250,000.

Of the 16 spots in this tournament, two are reserved for non-European teams who have already proved their worth in the game and have the funds to travel to Poland as the ESL will not cover any expenses.

Until Monday, January 20th, all teams from outside Europe can apply for a place at EMS One by sending an e-mail to [email protected] with the following info:

  • Team name
  • Line-up
  • A short text describing the history of the team
  • Past achievements of the team

compLexity, who finished in the top eight at DreamHack Winter, are so far the only non-European side to have secured a place at EMS One.

col is already in the 8 teams qualified. 8 to go. 6 european, and 2 from other continents. Your sugestion other than col ? I only see 3 teams that should be invited (since they aren't hosting qualifiers): Nface, Vox Eminor and IBP.

Do u think that Nface have enough fund to come to Europe? Same problem for Vox Eminor, i'm sure the trip to Stockholm was expensive and I'm not sure that they will be able to come back in Europe 4 months later. I think that the best N/A team in the ESEA finals should be invited.

These teams economic situation is something that I don't know, but if Vox Eminor could afford to rent a house on Stockholm and play the DHW BYOC qualifier, then I believe that they can go and play in Katowice (being invited, they are already on group stage, so less risk than a byoc qualifier in sweden). Nface are the only team that I know nothing about in terms of economics.

All 3 of those teams should go.. at the very least Nfac and Vox Eminor, since we have a US team coming already. I really think IBP is better than their recent results suggest though and it would be nice for them to finally show their true potential.

chill dude the national qualifiers are the only ones being played. The european qualifiers are the last to occur (before the great online finals ofc). So they can give it a try on both european cups.

Hate to say it, but name a team that wouldn't fail at this LAN. The complaint against ibp is that they fail at lans, however none of the top teams in the world are outside of EU, except coL, until otherwise proven. ibp has the most resources at their disposal, and the most lan experience. Also, for those saying vox should get the spot, how did they do at DHW? edit:That being said, I think the 2 slots will go to Vox and ibp. Just making my argument for ibp>anyone else and it seems Vox is the other viable option.

So a team from South America deserves it more? Ok, cool logic.

Okey then, here is my prediction for SA team: IF they will somehow find a sponsor to send them to Europe, they will place on a comfortable 3rd or 4th place in a group stage and travel back home, proving exactly nothing.

They would need to get into some open European competitions before they get invited to anything.

Vox showed they were better than the asian teams, and i think they need to keep showing up at these tournaments to be able to compete (in the future). So i hope they are able to make the trip.

Hi all, We (Vox Eminor) have officially applied for the spot. Thank-you for the support and it's now up to the organisers to decide. For all those saying "No international teams, except CoL will do well", that's might be true, but if you ever want to see a truly international CS:GO, we need to start inviting teams and getting them into the groove of International Events. There is 3 or 4 international teams who could easily break into the top20 if they were given the same opportunities as European teams. It's only a matter of time. I can also promise that if selected Vox Eminor will eclipse most teams in hours spent in game leading up to the competition.

these mega-prize tournaments (with Valve support) should reduce the prizemoney and cover teams traveling expenses.
