Titan scrape through to grand final

Titan have booked a place in the grand final in Dallas following a 2-1 victory over compLexity.

Starting off on the Terrorist side on de_dust2, coL were able to win the pistol round and the following two anti-eco rounds, despite some solid pistol work from Titan in their first eco attempt. In the first gun round, coL just waited in the middle area, trying to get one entry kill before deciding what to do. They ended up going short, where they were sandwiched by Titan’s players on the A site.

The former VeryGames team went on to make it 3-3, before Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert put coL back in the lead with a three-kill round to stop the Frenchmen's streak. But for the most part of the first half, Titan proved to be a far superior side, winning most of the individual duels across the map and showing some very strong AWP play as they were up 9-6 at the break.

Now playing on the terrorist side, the more favorite of the two on this map, Titan put two players faking long in the pistol round, while the remaining trio were tasked with planting the bomb on B. It was a risky move that almost backfired, but in the end Richard "shox" Papillon won a 1-on-2 situation and punished coL's players for not buying a defuse kit.

complexity then found a lifeline as Spencer "hiko" Martin picked up four kills in an eco round to put his team back in the game. However, that did little in the way of stopping Titan, who continued on a roll. Then, coL finally managed to step up their game and equalised the match on 13 rounds and then on 14 rounds.

But if there is one thing that one can take from this map is that the biggest difference between these two teams lied in the number of individual mistakes. With the score tied at 14 rounds, Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert pushed short with a grenade in his hand and was completely run over, paving the way for Titan to win this round and the next one (coL were pretty much broke) and take a 16-14 victory.

Titan take the lead in this best-of-three match

de_inferno then followed, and here coL played a perfect first round, taking down the entire Titan team without losing a single player. The two anti eco rounds also went coL’s way, with the American side going on to make it 4-0 as they picked up the first gun round: Titan faked B before going back to this very same site and planting the bomb, but coL won the gun battle and defused the bomb.

Titan then finally managed to win their first round of the game, reducing the deficit to 1-4, but coL immediately responded and kept their opponents at bay. With the score 6-1 in favour of the North American side, Richard "shox" Papillon almost played out a world-class round as he took down three players after being left alone against four opponents inside the A site, but in the end Sean "sgares" Gares denied him the chance for a video highlight.

coL looked nothing like the side from the first map: they were reading Titan’s game very well, predicting their every move and, on top of that, they were outaiming the French team, so it was no surprise that they were leading 13-2 at the break.

In the second half, Titan came out the brighter and won the pistol round with ease, with Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom ruining coL’s B rush with three kills, but then the French team showed that their hearts were simply not in it anymore as they fell into their opponents' trap following a mindless rush. coL would go on to win the next two rounds to pick up an impressive 16-3 win and take the game to a third map.

n0thing was simply on fire in this game

On de_nuke, Titan, who were playing on the Terrorist side, got off to a good start and took the pistol round as Richard "shox" Papillon won a 1-on-2 situation after Spencer "hiko" Martin had picked up three frags. The following round went down to the wire as coL were close to retaking the lower bombsite before Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux killed the defuser in the very last second.

The first gun round of this map then went to coL, who looked very sharp as they stopped Titan's outside-inner split. Rounds kept going back and forth here in this game, but as the teams switched sides, Titan were trailing coL by just one round, surely a great half for them because they were about to play on the highly-favoured CT side.

As expected, the former VeryGames side then equalised the game on eight rounds, thanks to Kévin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans' triple kill in the pistol round. With the score 10-8 in favour of Titan, the French team almost lost the first gun round of this second half, but thankfully for them there was no time left on the clock for compLexity to plant the bomb even though the Americans were already inside the lower site.

Titan would go on to make it 13-8 in their favour, and just when everyone thought that Droolans' men had this in the bag, coL mounted a serious comeback and forced the game to the very last round, which went to the Frenchmen.

coL honestly had Nuke. Some stupid mistakes were made on simple spot checks, that made them lose important rounds. Great series though, really showed coL's skill.

The thing that really hurt them on D2 was CT pistol when gares lagged out in the 3v2.

Totally agree. They played a really good tactical game (solid midround decisions) and some great individual performances, but committed a few critical errors. n0thing 14-14 round on dust2, opening T-side gun round on nuke...

dust2:n0thing ran to cat with a nade in hand... inferno: ok, but nearly miss on the final round if nothing cant get 1vN...and also, didnt check corners which made Shox nearly get a quad ninja kill. Nuke:Didnt check corner again, just rush to ramp(Again,Sean didnt check the right corner and rush to left...) and into the upper side. Pay the BO3. Nearly everyone did so well(Sean steps up in the last map, but still, not as constant as the others). If they be more carefully, they can definitely win the map. PS:I don't mean Sean is not a good player, but he really needs to focus more on details and land constant shots. He does have the ability, and I've seen him did the 1v3 awp kill on DHW2013. He just needs to be more calm and constant.

lol, he's in game leader and it takes quite a lot of focus on the game to call strats while focusing on aiming you see it with Ex6tenz xitz etc they were monsters in the previous CS games they played, and they're less fragging now. They're making up for it by giving the team strats.

I know that. But compare to Xizt and Ex6tenz, Sean made some really funky critical mistakes. Xizt and Ex6tenz can still keep constant and get frags, and their KD ratio are still high. PS: Actually Sean did well in the game this time. I just, just hope he can do better. Like on Dust2, he could get more frags, but waste to many chances that he could avoid.

As I said if you follow vg you would have your answer. And tbh no I don't think col is rusty never seen sgares play like he did today and nothing one of the best bo3 in his cs go carrier so no they didn't look rusty even in their execution when compared to vg who executes starts like a machine when they are playing above normal mode :)

I'm watching the stream as i supported my favorite team(ex-vg). But while watching the players camera(TITAN), I saw them not on the NORMAL MOOD. Seems not enjoying the game. They letting CoL to plant the c4 even though they can prevent it and just relying on the retake. But if they will do that same gameplay vs NiP or other top EU teams, they won't win IMO. And I as fan of them since 2011(CSS), I can really say, that's not the VG that I was supported. But i hope after they survive they W bracket final, they will re-establish their form and will win the event with a convincing one.

coL showed awesome team-play, great mid-round-decisions (simply out-played Titans in many situations) and they won so many duels. Even in eco-rounds they were highly efficient (Titans lost anti-ecos and often survived with only 1-2 low HP players left). But at the end they threw it in the crucial rounds. Very unfortunate. n0thing was a BEAST. This guy got crazy reflexes. If he just hadn't made that big mistake on d2, it would have ended 2:0 with a total humiliation on Titan's best map :/ Still can't believe how coL lost this. They were simply the better team. In almost every aspect except the end-result :( Hell they even lost both pistol-rounds on nuke. On inferno they lost the T pistol-round but still humiliated Titans with 16:3 :O

Unlike at Dreamhack, they'll have a chance to actually warm up against iBP. Even if they start off a bit rough, chances are good they will still out-play iBP. While iBP aren't awful, they aren't day 2 DHW fnatic. My guess is that coL will be decent going into the finals, but having to win 2 Bo3's? I doubt they can pull it off. They match up well against Titan but at this level beating any world class team twice in Bo3's is extremely hard.

Ouf, someone's feeling butthurt. The team winning the actual game is not always the one who deserves it. Overall, coL won more rounds than Titan. I didn't see the game, so I cannot give my own opinion but based upon other comments, it really shows that coL were the better team in this match; however being unlucky in a few key rounds.

I don't deny the fact that was a close game. But coL had their chance. And didn't take it. You can be unlucky on 1 map, not on 3. That's why Titan were just better. Moreover, at that level, the better team is the one who win key rounds.

I had the feeling that they had more control on the game as well. Anyway lets see if they take their second chance in the grand final

That almost ninja def from Shox nuke though, some tense shit! :D Overall a thrilling bo3, Ex6 really stepping up his game, same for Seangares! What bugs me though is that simple fking spot clearing and such is gonna cost them important rounds. It takes a split second to clear that right corner on ramp and then passing that information over to your team. A simple smoke can block of several spots on the ramp area, but there's nothing there, giving Titan easy picks. Some plain basic things that coL really failed to furfill and it ended costing them the game..

Very nice TRY by voL and they even almost had that nuke in their bag as well, but we all know the result, so n1... I hope for coL to overcome iBuypower 2:0 tomorrow (probably that's what's going to happen) and then would be cool to watch the revenge match once again coL vs VG woohoo gl

No Col arent even close to ex VG. Beating them in a bo1 means shit. Maybe in murican scene its a big acheivement but not here. Playing close bo3 game is nice but not enough. Even if they would won they need to dominate whole scene and beat all other teams for some time to prove that they are on the same lvl as Titans. How many times VG lost 16:14 to nip ? so many times. And nobody gave em credit. It was just another los for VG and win for NIP. And now muricans have a xmas day when they play a close bo3....

Retarded pretty much? How many times VG had chance to beat NiP at lan tournaments? Million times. How many times coL had chance to play VG or NiP? Two fucking times, and you say that they are not on VG level? They humiliated VG on inferno. That's not being on the same level? Yeah, get real and go fuck yourself saucer. If they had more chances to play on tournaments throughout the whole year they would shit on VG everytime.

xDxDxD Look at what VG won and look at what col won past year. Look to which teams col lost. They can play a close games with VG but that doesnt make em close skillwise. Especially if there are 5 another EU teams who can rape col but not VG. They humiliated VG on inferno. Thats cool only shows that they arent smart. If they were smart they should care about getting 2 maps in bo3 rather than humiliating on a single map. If a team can play a close game with another team. That does make em close only in that particular match up. But not overall in a whole scene,

"Look at what VG won and look at what col won past year." Again, how many tournaments coL has been to? TWO FUCKING TOURNAMENTS. "If a team can play a close game with another team. That does make em close only in that particular match up. But not overall in a whole scene," Now read the last sentence of my last post and get the fuck out. Plus if you add the fact that VG practice versus way more skilled opponents, there you go. If coL were living in Europe, if their orga could made this possible for them and they pracc'ed versus same opponents i think VG will have a really hard time against them. "They humiliated VG on inferno. Thats cool only shows that they arent smart. If they were smart they should care about getting 2 maps in bo3 rather than humiliating on a single map." 16-14, 3-16, 16-14. Now getting 2-1 versus VG, humiliating them on one map and losing only by 2 rounds difference in the other maps is not smart. I guess you are smarter than them. xDxDxD

-Lost to them in an incredibly close BO3 just now -Won an important BO1 at DHW -Won BO3 at previous ESEA Any rational person would agree that in a coL vs VG matchup, coL is a dangerous underdog. "Not even close to ex-VG"? Give me a break.

Did anyone see when coL was pushing b in the pistolround as ct on dd2, when Titan had planted, they were 3v3, then sgares disconnected and they were suddenly 2v3? I feel like if he hadn't disconnected or crashed coL would've won this game. I'm pretty sure he crashed

well it was the round that shoxie won 1v2, so if there had been 3 guys instead of 2, they would've maybe gotten the win and it wouldn't have gone to 30 rounds, who knows?
