FACEIT releases weapon skins

FACEIT has developed its own brand of weapon skins in a bid to improve the prize money for its future tournaments.

In recent months we have seen Valve support competitive tournaments through the Arms Deal as part of the revenue from the case sales go towards funding eSports events, like DreamHack Winter and EMS One Katowice.

FACEIT has now decided to jump on this bandwagon and approached five weapon designers to create brand new weapon skins. Eighty percent of the potential proceeds from the sales will be used to fund future tournaments, while the remaining 20 percent will go the artists themselves.

The roster of weapon designers can be found below, together with the link to their workshop profiles:

Two weapon skins have already been revealed, with the remaining works due to be released one per day. To vote for these skins so that they can make the next eSports case, visit FACEIT's workshop page.

yeah, as far as i understand: they aren't cooperating with Valve. That's why i don't understand the 80% and 20% share at all.

sorry for 2nd reply ...but if they aren't cooperatin with Valve, which i assume, since they want us to upvote the skins so they get included = skins get voted > get into case > creator gets % from sales from valve ( in this case faceit ...) > from this % ... 80% 20% split.

Actually, even though people don't like the skins, it would make sense to up vote them for the community. If those skins get into a case, Faceit would get a shitload of money to hand out or to use on their organization. :)

Valve will add community favorite skins on more crates in the ucoming times, which will likely include theese skins, which can only be than used in game. You'll still have to buy keys or drop theese items though.

You can not buy skins from faceit.Theese are just skins faceit supported some guys to do with a deal that if thoose are added to game they'll get %80 of revenue for their prize pool and %20 will go to designers. All you can do it rate up and spread the word if you want to support theese skins and faceit, nothing more to do atm. Tbh this article should include how revenue sharing works between valve and skin designers, no wonder this shit is confusing to people who aren't familiar with the valve's community business style

Hi Markers, thanks for putting some order on how things work. Just to make sure that everyone understands what this means, here is how it works. 1) Are the skins for sale? The skins are not for sale. You can't buy skins in the workshop, you can only upvote them and give feedback on how you would like them to change in order to look even better. 2) So how can I get them? Once the weapons are finished and once all of them are in the workshop it will be up to Valve to decide whether to include them in one of the next cases or not. If you like them you can upvote them and leave your feedback on the workshop. 3) What If these are included in a case? How does it work with %? If these are included in a case a percentage of the $ that we pay to open cases is for the owner of the weapons. In this case the percentage for the owner of the weapon would be committed to two streams i) 80% to the prize purse of upcoming events and ii) 20% to the artists that were kind and passionate enough to jump into this project. This means that these artists would be virtually donating a part of their potential revenues to prize money for upcoming events. 4) I thought you could not brand weapon skins These skins are NOT branded. While the title and the name of the weapons may be misleading, the skins do not have any branding attached to it. These are skins designed by the top artists of the workshop in total freedom and all branding that may have ended int he skin had been removed on purpose to avoid similar issues. We decided to name them as FACEIT and the name of the artist for the time being, just to make them a recognizable part of the The FACEIT Weapons Skins Project. We do not expect our brand to be kept in the name if these are selected for a case (and to be honest we agree it could create issues). I hope this clears a lot of the questions and doubts all of you have! In the meantime I suggest all of you to take a look at the artists above. They are not just some of the greatest artist to work with, but also extremely passionate about what they do for the community.

Great! Thank you so much for clearing this up. I really hope your project goes forward and wish you all success on this. If not, do consider other types of crowd funding like kickstarter.com or indiegogo.com. We need more tournaments and more people getting involved. I'm sure you've heard of these sites before, but in case you're wondering let me assure you they do work. I've seen a friend's company project get over 3 million dollars from kickstarter(!)

No. Just fucking no. I like faceit but this is a dick move. We 'users' are not going to pay for everything. I support valve with their skins but let them control where the money goes. You earn the cash from valve not the other way around. Dreamhack and EMS has done so much for esport and together with fragbite they have the best productions. No.

Promotional Designs: At this point, we’re not looking for designs that promote existing brands or companies. Designs should not advertise a person, team, company, organization, etc.

Designs are not breaking any rules actually, designer having a deal to give %80 of revenue through his own channels isn't valve's concern. They just need to fix the names.

so the only skins that are made under the faceit brand are an m4a1-s, a p90 and a famas. why these weapons? why not ones that most people actually USE like an m4a1-s, an awp, an AK and a p250? the m4a1-s alloy orange by Zaphk the awp bloodline by .red the p250 asimov by coridium the AK wire by Thurnip Oposto
