Five remain in Katowice Nordic finals

After one day of competition, three of eight teams have been knocked out and five remain in the Nordic regional finals for EMS One Katowice.

Friday started with ENCE, now featuring Timi "aslak" Verkkoperä, knocking Swedish highgrade out 2-0 after a convincing 16-8 win on de_inferno, followed by a nail-biting 21-19 overtime win on de_dust2.

Assembly Winter winners H2k Gaming then prevailed over an ESC Gaming lineup, featuring SK Gaming's Marcus "Delpan" Larsson as a stand-in. The Norwegians came through 2-1 with 16-7 and 21-18 wins on maps two and three.

Finally Minttu, now without Verkkoperä, fell short against their Assembly opponents partyastronauts, despite winning opening map de_inferno 16-12. They lost de_dust2 10-16 and de_nuke 8-16 and were knocked out.

Pimp's n! will continue their TBA match today

Final quarter-final match was supposed to be n!faculty versus Swedish TBA, led by Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi, but the game had to be postponed at a 13-13 score on first map de_nuke due to internet problems.

n!faculty's match is expected to be completed sometime today before the semi-finals are scheduled to start, though the exact schedule for the match is as of writing unclear.

Semi-finals will pit ENCE against H2k Gaming at 19:00 , and partyastronauts versus whoever comes out alive from the n!faculty versus TBA series, in a match scheduled to start at 21:00 .

Action will continue later tonight in EMS One Katowice Nordic regional finals and the grand final, whose winner will advance to the online finals with six Katowice spots up for grabs.

Kinda sad to see such low level in the qual regional finals. None of these teams are able to challenge any of the already qualified teams.

i though the nordic scene was bigger :( im going to live in Finland and I was hoping a good cs here!

Well I did speak out of my ass a little as the n! line for sure is a very good one. Also h2k seems like a very promising line. Finland is another case tho. We have not had a scene in years. People here do not take it all that serious. They go to polytechnic/uni or they just work and CS is more a hobby than a serious thing. We do have a lot of talent tho and I hope to see younger players like Xarte, Sunny, Revicer etc bring some momentum for a new rise of talent. You gotta remember, Finland has been in the CS scene from the very beginning (exluding the past few years) winning the 1st Eurocup and having brilliant players. The players just can't spend enough time playing when they need to pay their rent and bills etc. Edit: Are you coming here to study?
