StarSeries IX Finals date changed

SLTV StarSeries Season IX's duration of group stages, which are played online, will be prolonged, with LAN finals being moved to May 2nd to 4th as the ramifications of this change.

The organisators have just published a list of changes related to the ninth season of their CS:GO tournament, which is about to be inaugurated.

StarLadder has opted for an extension of duration of the online groupstages, now taking place during 25th of February until 20th of April, in order to minimize issues with delays as well as to ensure the teams are not troubled with any handicaps. The newly assembled schedule, which will be beneficial to both viewers and teams, is said to be released in a matter of days on SLTV's official CS:GO site.

With the LAN finals having been moved to May 2nd-4th, the interference between SLTV StarSeries Season IX finals and Copenhagen Games has been removed, as StarLadder Season IX LAN finals were initially set to take place during April 10th-13th, while Copenhagen Games are scheduled for April 16th-20th.

SLTV StarSeries Season IX Finals moved to May 2nd-4th

The StarLadder team has also enlisted a decision they had taken  to remove de_cache, a map which has been recently reintroduced into Operation Phoenix thanks to its popularity, with the aim to avoid issues during the map banning phase of a match. The map pool now only consists of 5 maps.

Along with the map pool changes, a revision of the tournament's rules has been made with most notable alterations in penalties for delays and player transfers, now sterner than ever.

You can read the updated list of rules by clicking here.

+1 so sad, all tournaments must use cache+season to show valve what maps we want. and what about the agreement amongst the biggest organizers about unifying the mappool?

Valve knows we want cache, that's why they sell it to us for $4 every 3 months in the new operation.

This, completely. Valve is money whoring to the very end, and anyone saying bullshit like "they need to make money" needs to use their fucking brain.

They should've added it to the game permanently when it was voted the best map from Operation Bravo, not made us pay for it again. Total joke. They should try "Operation: Effective Anti-Cheat".

To be fair they only removed cache because they had a 6 map rotation and that's dumb when you use vetos. Because in the end you always have 2 maps left etc. Hopefully once Tuscan is out and plays good we can have a solid 7 map cycle.

This is so dumb to remove de_cache... I really wish tournaments added their weight together by choosing the maps themselves, instead of depending on Valve's decisions... And the fact that Valve didn't add cache to the MM map pool is not in favor of the community either.

it's valve's game, if valve decide to use these 5 maps, you can't just make a tournament and use different ones, it's called copyright also, no other tournament is using de_cache right now, the idea is that it's dumb for teams to practice a map just for 1 tournament. either ALL tournament have 6 maps, or NO tournaments have 6 maps, it's that simple.

I think you got a little bit carried away there. There is absolutely nothing Valve can do against me if I decide to host a tournament and decide which maps I want to play. The rights to play the maps are already conceded by Valve when they sell the game, so as long as all CS:GO copies used are legit, and that the maps are available through the game, there is no problem whatsoever. de_cache has been played in several tournaments and leagues in 2013, as well as the old mirage. None of these were official maps. Of course Valve still holds the rights to ask for royalties in the case where the tournament is made for a commercial purpose, because the image of the game (and the maps) is used, but that's another matter. I know that de_cache is being dropped everywhere, that was exactly my point, hence "tournamentS".

Mate. Just let's look from other side. In pick-veto map's every team has own tactic. If everywhere mappool with 5 maps, and someone has 6, it's dumb. Because it's just waste of 1 veto for someone, who doesn't wanna waste time for de_cache, because it's not needed for biggest tournaments. That's why everyone just drop it without any doubt.

I'm not suggesting any specific number of maps, I'm suggesting different maps than those we have always seen on the competitive scene. de_cache, sure, but not only, we need other maps. Also, I'm not proposing that one event has different maps than others, I'm all for uniformity, therefore, every tournament should aim at including other maps into the scene, not just this one.
