EMS One Katowice groups drawn

The group draw for EMS One Katowice is now complete, as the 16 participants have learned their fate in the competition.

The tournament will take place next week, from March 13th to 16th, with 16 teams from all over the world battling it out for a piece of the $250,000 prize purse.

On Tuesday, the ESL revealed how the seeds were distributed amongst the participating teams, with each group featuring one team from each pot.

DH Invitational Stockholm champions Titan have been handed a very tricky draw as the French side will battle the former Astana Dragons team, mousesports and Virtus.pro. Ninjas in Pyjamas, on the other hand, are expected to cruise past their group opponents, having been paired with LDLC.com, Vox Eminor and 3DMAX.

The details about the tournament structure are still scarce, but it is believed that the top two sides from each group will progress to the playoffs.

I wouldn't underestimate skineloff and company. It's LAN. VP haven't won with them for a year on LAN and dodged them last SLTV finals. Sure, they destroyed them recently online, but still I wouldn't underestimate them. If Dosia has good day, he can carry them through groups stage easily. One more thing: IMO Disbanda Dragons are more capable of taking on Titans than VP. VP has been destroyed by Titan every single time when they've meet starting with ESWC 2012.

Seems legit actually except Group D... Group A As a matter of fact i wouldnt be too much surprised if mouz made it TOP 3 of this group leaving ASD 4th, but still hard to predict, I guess yes - 2nd and 3rd places of group A could go either way whether to VP or ASD... Group B Id say the same thing about Vox that they could easily surprise as they did at their 1st major lan last time where they placed 4th and I do hope Vox ends up in TOP 3 actually of this group for us to see some new blood... Other than that NiP should obviously top the group while Id say 2nd and 3rd places could go either way wether to 3DMAX or LDLC, Id actually say 3DMAX tops LDLC in OTs :) ...but anyway... Group C Ya, Id go with the way you put it without changes... vox will be last. In china titan and fnatic were the only top tier teams that made that lan, so coming 4th wasn't a surprise or much of a big deal in terms of international rating.

theres no easy groups, especially group C as it contains of fnatic/iBuy/Reason. The only "easy" and predictable in terms of not being good at this event apponent would be dignitas, palcing 4th, but the other 3 teams could surprise and either of those remaining 3 could earn TOP 1 on a good day :) Obviously Id say it should in reality end up like this 1st fnatic 2nd iBuy 3rd Reason but hard anyway to predict and say EASY group :)

Hi MIRAA, I enjoy your work but: 1. I think news should be about facts and not speculation (like the first two paragraphs). It might be a easy group for NiP, but that is reserved for an opinionated article, like the ones Lurpiss does, sometimes. 2. Looking at group A and the fact that with the classic system, we'd see either VP, ex-AD or Titan leave the tournament early, I seriously hope they use the GSL group system. I. e. the teams that get knocked out fill in the initial spots of the lower brackets and fight each other to advance to face off against the losers from upper bracket play. VP going out in groups would be heartbreaking considering the circumstances, ex-AD going out in groups would probably be the nail in that lineup's coffin, Titan I can't see going out in the groups and mousesports will be off to a harsh start to the tournament.

I wouldn't be surprised by that. But again, one of the three will have to drop out if the classic format is to be used. And the only team that is likely to be able to "survive" dropping out of the tournament that early is at the same time the most likely to make it out on top.

My predictions to get out of each group: A Titan, Ex-AD (even though VP have been playing better I feel AD are going to edge it out) B NiP, LDLC (LDLC should have a comfortable time getting second in this group. NiP should top without breaking a sweat.) C Fnatic, Dignitas (IBP to cake internationally again, Dignitas to redeem themselves after a poor DH invitational) D NaVi LGB - Toughest group to predict, any of these teams can get out or top. I think NaVi are really underrated by the community at the moment. The raw skill in their team is not to be underestimated and they can genuinely place very high in this tournament if they are able to get their team coordination going.

I think people underestimate Voxe, I'm not suggesting they'll get out of groups but at MSi BeatIt they narrowly lost to SK in a bo3 (16-12, 16-13). I can also confirm they slapped the shit out of ex-AD last night in practice scrims.

Vox cant beat a single other team in attendance. If they're lucky they might have close matches with Mouz and Reason but that's it. All other teams are way above them.
