MYM Not Invited To ESWC

Normally, ESWC invites the Defending Champions from each competition to participate without having to qualify.

But the winners of last year's Counter-Strike competition - the current MeetYourMakers - do not get an invitation. The players from MYM won the tournament while they were playing for PGS Gaming, and the invitation goes to the organisation, and not the players.

There is one small problem, though. At the mean time, PGS Gaming doesn't have a Counter-Strike team - besides their female team - and they've earlier said that they won't get a new one. With this invitation in their hands, PGS Gaming might reconsider this statement. An invitation to one of the biggest tournaments in the world could draw many top teams attention.

ESWC 2008 will be held in San Jose, California, USA, from the 25th-27th August.

man ,,,dudes from ESWC should see reconsider...and send the invitation to MYM .. they are the same players but with a different tag... really dont see the ESWC without them... but even if there will be a qualification.... I am sure that MYM(former PGS) will handle it... and sjippaH thinks that PGS gaming should reconsider...no ...that's not gonna happen... like PGS said : "We achieved allmost everything there is to achive at CS" ... so dont see PGS attending there.

It's not FAIR,because PGC(MyM) won ESWC,and their name(organisation)has nothing to do about the players cause they are the same team(i think soo):D

It's pretty understandable. When you represent your "club" and win something for it, the organisation wins it, not the players who played it. True, the players played the games but they are representing a society so, the invitation goes to that society. But pretty sure MYM team won't have any problems to qualify for the ESWC Grand Finals. Also idd, PGS organisation should reconsider about sending to one of the biggest tournaments of the world a competitve team that in any case will be 'the deffending champions'. Regards

hmmm not fair but... ? if ex PGS linup would crash... for example... 2 players go to MYM 2 to SK and 1 fnatic... where would go an invitation? ofc for organisation... in this situation mym.pl should be invited but in other? when the lineup crashed or some players leave a team ? I am able to understand ESWC statment

ehh... What is that?! OMG! PGS don't have a CS team fact! So... the invitation should go to the players from the old PGS specially as they are playing in the same team now... So I wonder how the organizers are going to deal with the fact that ESWC doesn't have a defending champion to play...LOL! I hope that MYM play in the tournament and win it again :D that would be funny :D

Hm, the title does provoke a little controversy, but it just means that the mYm team that was formerly PGS will have to qualify for ESWC this year just like the rest of the teams and that the PGS organisation will get an autoberth into the ESWC Finals.

It's funny how easy ESWC organisators are ignoring transfers in gaming scene. They gave the invitation even the team hasn't got division and resources to sent their players to the event. But when it's all about my favourite CS team, it starts to not being so funny as at the beginning... :(

Hi, I would like to reply to poster #22 and his supporters. I fully understand that it is the players, who won, but it's not all that simple. There are organisations competing - MYM, SK, mTw etc, not players. Players are just a tool of advertisement. Every organization needs to be advertised, so they would have visitors and members - here come in sponsors and money. If an organization chooses a team (5players), who they wan't to REPRESENT them, they make a contract. Mainly: team plays (good) and organization pays the team for advertising the organization. Now, if players are just a tool and organization is the competitor itself, why should the players get the invitation? The idea is simple: organization won last year, not the players (still the members are loved much more than the organization itself). Let me bring you an example: Let's say that Steelpad is announced as the best mousepad maker, so in that case, you would know that Steelpad did it, not Timmy and Michael from the Lab, not Muhab and Nikaerksdgldf from India (or smwhere like that), who have put it together. Well it isn't a very right example, as they doubtfully have Steelpads put together in India or another 3rd world country, since they wouldn't have the right technology there. But i have to remark, that insiders would know that, who did what, but it isn't the most important thing. Important is that the public knows Steelpad. If there weren't any organizations, the eSports scene would not be what it is now. You would all still be in pubs playing aztec and rats etc, not knowing anything about MYM, SK etc. Regards, Villem
