New update touches on smokes

Valve has released a new update for CS:GO that reshapes the way smokes behave after popping.

Following last night's update, the volume of the smoke is now more consistent, with the shape changing from square to round. Valve has also made it harder for players to see through a smoke grenade when they are right in the middle of it.

There were some minor fixes to both de_mirage and de_vertigo as well as a number of UI changes.

For the first time, Steam accounts that have never played CS:GO can now purchase and receive inventory items from the game via Steam Trading.

Release Notes for 4/23/2014

[UI]

  • The options menu now has a setting for specifying which command will enable the mouse on the scoreboard. The option has a few presets but any command may be set using the convar cl_scoreboard_mouse_enable_binding directly (e.g. 'cl_scoreboard_mouse_enable_binding +jump').
  • Fixed uninitialized scorecard for competitive matches being visible.
  • Improved lobby performance.
  • Added saving of inventory sort and filter dropdowns.
  • Fixed chat window scroll bars getting stuck at the top/bottom.
  • Fixed scoreboard mouse input when watching gotv.

[SDK/MAPPING]

  • Added a new trigger (trigger_bomb_reset) that teleports dropped bombs back to a valid in-play position. This is intended to be used in player-inaccessible areas where a dropped bomb cannot be retrieved.
  • Bots no longer see through tools/toolsblock_los func_brushes (npc line-of-sight blockers).
  • Bot maximum vision distance can be set per-map by "Bot max vision distance" in info_map_parameters. Default is unlimited.
  • Prop doors (prop_door_rotating) that are in the process of opening or closing can be checked to see if they are "Locked" and if so, ignore player +use.

[MAPS]

Mirage

  • Enabled collision on arch corners (Thanks NBK!)
  • Fixed some spots where C4 could get stuck

Vertigo

  • Added bomb teleport trigger to prevent bomb falling out of playable area
  • Closed off dumpster in chokepoint near bombsite B
  • Improved signage
  • Fixed players being able to climb down elevator shaft

[MISC]

  • In Official Competitive matchmaking, the initial warmup timer will now start at 5min and reduce to 30s when the last player connects.
  • In Official Competitive matchmaking, if any player has not connected by the end of warmup, they will receive an abandon and the match will be aborted.
  • Fixed vote accounting in cases when players disconnect while the vote is in progress.
  • Fixed a bug related to purchasing armor.
  • Fixed smoke grenades popping again when thrown into more than one molotov fire in a row.
  • Smoke volumes are now more consistently shaped with the particles more evenly distributed. The overall shape is now round and no longer square.
  • Increased minimum distance from the center of a smoke grenade volume in which a player's view will be completely obscured by smoked.
  • Fixed some "micro hitches" related to picking up weapons with custom finishes and new players joining a game.
  • Fixed several potential crashes.
  • Fixed some Coach bugs
  • Fixed radar and overview maps for coaches not behaving like players.
  • Fixed scoreboard item status for coaches not behaving like players.
  • Added support for concommand spec_player_by_name for in-game spectators.
  • Improved Official Competitive matchmaking scheduler to support more than 65,535 users playing competitive matches concurrently.
  • Default USP, M4A1-S, and CZ-75 Auto weapons that are on the ground will show the correct names in "swap for" message.
  • Decoy grenades now work properly for the USP-S, M4A1-S, and CZ75 Auto.
  • Steam accounts that have never played CS:GO can now purchase and receive CS:GO inventory items via Steam Trading.

Put this in your autoexec: alias "Slash" "" bind / "Slash" cl_scoreboard_mouse_enable_binding "Slash" Although I think it should be something close to your hand like alt for example (this is what I'm using): alias "Alt" "" bind alt "Alt" cl_scoreboard_mouse_enable_binding "Alt" (got this from a post on reddit)

Seriously we wait for update for 3 weeks, the best thing about this update is removing one-way smokes and its advantages and yet they fuck something up. :( smokes are bugged again (If you throw smoke on hut on de_nuke, terrorists will see nothing in the hut)

people prolly thinks that there is a lot of ppl working on CS. But in reality this is only team of few ppl, that doesn't give you to much of manpower for bugfixing. Folks should consider that they are doing probably some big feature implementations in same time for future releases, and fixing issues takes them maybe 10% of worktime ?

Actually from the information I've gathered, the amount of people that work on CS:GO at any moment can range from 10-20, those are numbers of devs that made games like DOOM or work for Mojang, and not a modern, competitive FPS (in contrast, imagine the size of a COD dev team). Yeah ok, this example is kind of shitty and has a lot of holes in it, but I guess it's still worthwhile considering the small size. I know it's also kind of a cop-out to support the devs, and I disagree with some of their decisions (in particular whenever they patch out boostable areas or nerf bugs that are fun to exploit), but I think they do a hell of a job given their limited manpower for such a popular game

u should know, that pushing 128 tickserver has nothing to do with team that is doing game fixes and shipping updates. It fully depends on valve managment related to CS:GO future if the decide to allow changing 1 variable in servers config ;]

They should done better like in dota2 the "safe to leave" when 1 players will abandon maybe 5-10 minutes after the game starts. And the cooldown system because i've been banned 7 days in multiple times because of electricity shortage(black out) or internet disconnection. But it's decent update about MM ;)

Vertigo: Added bomb teleport trigger to prevent bomb falling out of playable area Stupid :( I like that peeking some of the cliff corners comes with a risk of dropping the bomb if killed. Same with running the bridge, or running the bombspot outer sideways. Closed off dumpster in chokepoint near bombsite B. It was kind of OP spot, but still i guess they could do a lot of other stuff to make B more an option. 90% of rushes is towards A still. Fixed players being able to climb down elevator shaft It was a nice gun save spot, and totally unnecessary to do anything about it. I rarely see anybody hide there just for the fun of it. Im quite surprised they didnt fix ct´s jumping to T spawn.. which they already tried to elimite before, only the invisble box they placed back then was too small, and it can still be strafed around successfully.

Have to be something like that yes. If they added a second entrance to B, i think this map could be absolutely awesome on pro level. You can get from spawn to spawn in 5 seconds, this adds something to the tactic aspect we havent seen before. I really love the upper/lower design, partially like nuke..

You don't join the server right away when playing MM. So the timer will start at 5 minutes warmup, but when the last player connects, clicks on that OK thing or whatever, the timer will change to 30 sec automatically. Like the timer is on 2 minutes, last man joins and it changes to 30sec

And as for the "dont invite 20 people", I don't know where you got that from.. just sounds like you wanna be a douche :-) It just shouldn't be possible to be 6 man (or more) in a lobby, when you can't queue more than 5v5 games. What we need now?! - improved anti-cheat - 128tic servers for MM (I would pay for it) - pistols need better balance (Deagle) - grenades fix (he grenade hitboxes, flasbangs constistency) - hitboxes needs major changes - Try to come up with new maps - movement major changes - game is only gray and brown (make it more colerfull) - price for pistol CZ75 is low - make AWP kill again 300 dollars . . . much more, these are major changes that needs to be down asap

It's OP as fuck. Players rarely buy SMG's after pistolround win anymore because the CZ is so ridiculously good, they just go straight for famas / galil. You should not be able to kill 2 fully armored guys in less than a second (close range) by just ducking and pressing mouse1 with a "pistol". This happens all the time. Low ammo is a bad argument imo because you can pick up weapons. If 24 bullets isn't enough to kill one opponent and find another weapon for you i'd say l2p noob. My opinion on CZ is they should raise the price to 600, so players can't go helmet, kevlar and CZ after losing pistol round with no kills. OR, I would prefer if they just nerfed firerate and accuracy a bit.

- improved anti-cheat VAC works. people like you obviously just don't realise how it works. it's always being updated to detect the latest cheats (see the news about the big organner banwave). valve wont make VAC visibly better akin to ESEA anticheat client. There is always going to be cheaters its unavoidable. - 128tic servers for MM (I would pay for it) They wont ever add 128 tick servers i don't think. but having it as a more premium service is a good idea that i hope they take onboard. - pistols need better balance (Deagle) Yes, maybe still greater accuracy improvement. Only the first shot is remotely accurate then its just awful. Either make it better still, or reduce its price back down to $650. - grenades fix (he grenade hitboxes, flasbangs constistency) grenade hitboxes and collisions with players were fixed several patches ago. flashes are still ok imo - hitboxes needs major changes why? they match the player models almost as closely as is possible. this doesn't need revising - Try to come up with new maps Valve don't make maps that are viable for competitive play. They never have. All of the original CS maps that were updated for CSS and CSGO were made by the original HL mod for 1.6 and 'polished' by valve. Anything good competitive wise that we get will be community driven into the 'operations' like cache was. (hoping for tuscan) - movement major changes just enough to remove the peeker advantage would be nice. people should have just gotten used to the csgo movement by now that it isn't so much a problem. - game is only gray and brown (make it more colerfull) wont happen. too much work to retexture all of the maps and they arent that bad. just fiddle with your own monitor/gcard color settings (particularly digital vibrance) - price for pistol CZ75 is low it's a suitable alternative to the p250. if they increased cz cost, they'd have to increase p250 cost. imo for a 24 bullet automatic pistol it's a good alternative to the p250. - make AWP kill again 300 dollars $200 would be fine. it obviously isn't that much of an issue atm in competitive play. least it isn't still $50

Pretty sure I've been killed behind a wall plenty of times without having the wall penetration icon displaying and I completely disagree saying the grenades have been "fixed" as they are extremely inconsistent with damage vs distance

if u got killed and u were behind a wall it wont be hitbox it must be lag or netcode issue. and i've not noticed much issues with the nades damage / distance myself

Pretty sure it's significantly different from any other version of cs I've played. I do play MM more than any thing so 66 tick etc, and I actually recognise an improvement even on 128tick DM's

it's not the computer. i had 300fps locked before. now it's 200-300 with decreased graphics settings. definitely a big difference. it's still good, but it was better before

somewhat off/ontopic I've been playing CS 1.0 til mid 1.6 (2006-07 ish) and played some source casually yonks ago. The last 3-4 months I started watching pro csgo via Anders and semmler twitch streams and oh boy it got worse, both in terms of gameplay/community. While HE grenades were somewhat overpowered in 1.6 but valve went complete bonkers and made them pretty much useless. Pistols are now pretty much rifles... nothing against the idea of making them somewhat stronger and eco rounds a little bit more tense but valve again went completely insane. Again, nothing against changes. I'm not one of those crybabies and actually like change and new things but don't go overboard. Don't get me started on the whole skins issue. And there is the lack of top pro clans, it's always the same guys playing. Also, kinda funny that pro players complaining about minor things like one-sided smokes but they don't care about the non-existing fixed graphic settings/resolution rule which is an even worse issue on paper... "esport" (cringworthy term) or should I say semi-serious competitive-gaming is a joke. Can't wait until sponsor support stops because they're playing on ultra low settings/800x600 with their I7 machines. It happened with 1.6 and it will happen again.

The best update for valve will be to fix the hackers in high rank. Put every new account must have 300h to play after Master Guardian becouse the cheaters want i think to be global elite thats will be problem for them to waste the time for nothing. or get banned in first 100h if they start to using cheat when start to play cs go. Sorry for my bad English.
