GameGune 2014 with CS:GO female

The GameGune organisers have announced that this year's event will feature a CS:GO female tournament.

GameGune 2014 will run from July 4th to 6th in Bilbao, and, for the first time in the event's history, it will not take place under the wings of the Euskal LAN as the venue chosen is the Palacio Euskalduna, close to Athletic Bilbao's stadium and the Nervión river.

The event's website reveals that only two games will be played at this year's event, League of Legends, and CS:GO (for female teams only), a decision that has taken many by surprise.

No more GameGune at Euskal

Contacted by HLTV.org, the event organisers confirmed that this information is real and justified the move with an imposition from a sponsor to promote gender equality.

Last year, GameGune did not feature Counter-Strike altogether for the first time in the event's history as Call of Duty: Black Ops II (Xbox 360) was the only game picked.

The sign-up process and the prize purse for GameGune's female CS:GO tournament will be announced in the coming weeks. All teams interested in attending the event can contact the organisers by e-mail at [email protected].

You should be happy there is no CS:GO at GameGune dude, they couldn't even fix proper PC's to play CS 1.6. Let alone CSGO lol... Not even talking about the admins just restarting games midround and the UTPcables being magically unplugged when the Spanish teams would lose a pistolround. LOL. edit; but it was still a fun event :D

Last two events actually :) Same admins, same mistakes, same shit PC's. Actually there is 1 really good admin, but too many guys that don't know you shouldn't mp_restartgame 1 when you wanna unpause. But yea, maybe it was better in the years before that.

Wicked | TaZ: I think that the tournament went smooth, there were no problems to be honest, maybe in the final where till the last minute we were setting up our stuff to work, but overall I think it's a great tournament and the admins did a great job. Virtus.pro | LeX: It's my first time here, not the first time in España, but it's a really great tournament. Everything was good, there were pretty good PCs, there were no delays or mistakes, and of course great job of organizers and admins. Every technical problem was fixed exactly in the moment it appeared or happened. Maybe a little stricts, maybe fourty more PCs and the tournament could go faster and could be like not playing from the very early morning to the night. I mean like yesterday, our last match finished at 12:30 p.m. So it's pretty late for a team if they are playing the whole day. But everything except this was really great. Thanks everyone who organized the tournament, who had believed in cyber sport and give money, and hopefully this tournament will repeat every year so we will have the possibility to come here. :/

remember, dreamhack was like that in 2006/7 ish, when dM attended and got shafted in the grand final against that swedish team and look how far they have come as a lan then again, with the tournament line-ups of the past few years, it's hard to envision a likewise scenario for GG :(

dont females make up like 1% of pc gamers. when its 50-50 and there is a no difference in level of play between genders and female players are being not taken seriously then its ok to do this.

"imposition from a sponsor" Basically 50% of the potential market for sponsors (females) is pretty much closed off. If they can encourage females to play more this unlocks a market twice the size which means twice the profit. Personally I think it's good to have female only tournaments to get more females into CS, then one day when the gender split is more even hopefully we won't have a need for separate leagues.

I agree. Most female tournaments don't get the attention they deserve because they run simultaneously with male tournaments, and so is the coverage.

It deserves more attention if you want that part of esport to grow too, and for esport to get more attention as serious sport. At the moment the guys are in the spotlight (LoL, SC2, DoTA..), we (CS:GO) could be the "change" and give girls the attention they deserve. Esport should really care about the female-side of the scene. Otherwise we end up like football, which is serious about females just the last couple of years. I'm not sure if we should mix up the teams in the future, that's something to think and talk about in the future.

hahahaha promote gender equality and make a female-only tournament. If you want to promote gender equality you make a tournament where men and women can participate, that's the start of everything. That's what equality is about basically. It's like female tennis. The female players want the same prizepurse at the tournaments than men get. But instead of playing 5 sets they play 3 (At the big tournaments). They play on a way lower level (nr. 250 male player > nr. 1 female player). Okay, Tennis includes physical efforts so I understand women have a disadvantage. But in Counter-Strike it's only your fucking brain that has to be connected with your fucking hands. If that is already a problem, I don't know where we're going. Keep on making tournaments only for women and never they will keep up with the pace. A few months ago we played against bad monkey gaming (zaaz, irene, ...) in a pracc, we won 16-6 and during last round they were already leaving. If they would play against top 50 teams they would lose, anything close to 16-0 will be a good bet. If a top female team can't handle a random high skilled EU mix, don't even make a tournament for them, I mean, who wants to see that anyway? Unless you can bet on it people won't even watch a bunch of noobs fight for 2k€. Open watchtab and just watch a DMG / Lengedary Eagle match on matchmaking, same result.

I'm really sorry to say this but a "few months ago" me and my team didnt have a single strat on any map, and basically ONE game doesn't say ANYTHING about us. If people would say this about nip or any other team in the high male level that they suck because nip loses a pracc very hard or whoever it might be, it would be hilarious. You know a pracc is for training and not for winning right? you know that if we PRACC we do stuff we need to pracc on and not the ones we have to win the game? Do you know that VP have 16-0 teams who is top10 in the world ??? This IQ level makes me want to cry, really

That is the whole point. I am no one on the CS scene but with a random EU mix we're still better than a top female team that participates in tournaments with an absurd high prize pool compared to what male players on the same skill level play for (basically nothing, or small cups with barely cash where anyone can participate). just because they are girls they don't deserve those privileges in a game where only your brain has to work properly to achieve something. After that it's dedication, the time you spend on the game, how you spend it and who you play with. If females keep playing against each other there is no need to become better. When they'll start playing only vs men they will see how big the gap is and they will try to close it, or stay on an average level.

You wont achieve anything by just talking without knowing anything about the matter. Google should have given you an answer straight away, but cause you are too stupid to check up on your information before speaking.. Processing Male brains utilize nearly seven times more gray matter for activity while female brains utilize nearly ten times more white matter. What does this mean? Gray matter areas of the brain are localized. They are information- and action-processing centers in specific splotches in a specific area of the brain. This can translate to a kind of tunnel vision when they are doing something. Once they are deeply engaged in a task or game, they may not demonstrate much sensitivity to other people or their surroundings. White matter is the networking grid that connects the brain’s gray matter and other processing centers with one another. This profound brain-processing difference is probably one reason you may have noticed that girls tend to more quickly transition between tasks than boys do. The gray-white matter difference may explain why, in adulthood, females are great multi-taskers, while men excel in highly task-focused projects. Judging they did alot of tests on these kind of things, yes there is more difference between males and females then you think there are.

Gender equality my ass. Either let guys and girls play for same price money in separated tournaments. or: Make one tournament for invited girls and guys teams. This action makes about same sense like "I am not racist and I will prove it by making a bigass party where white people wouldn't be allowed".

Why wouldnt there be a tournament just for girls? Like in nearly every sport the difference between males and females is quite huge. Theres near to no tournaments for the female scene either.. So yes its great a lan actually does something about it. None of the pro teams is going to say something about it either and thats cause they understand, unlike all of you who have a big mouth while you never go to lan anyway.

There shouldn't be two tournaments. Male and Female shouldn't be separated. This isn't football or tennis, it isn't a physical sport; it's gaming. Men and women are the same. If they aren't up to the level of most male gamers, that's their problem, play more and put in the hours. And creating a gap between the scenes, by making separate tournaments, doesn't help in the long run. Everyone should be playing against each other, doesn't matter what gender you are. You only separate the two because of the social side of it.

Oh really, are they? Thanks for clearing that up. Also thanks for pasting that from google. Your IQ must be very high if you can paste from google. It's just a stupid fucking idiotic idea people have thought up purely because they're female and everyone knows almost all of their players are terrible. Special treatment cos they've got minges. Females can join any tournament they want, there is no male only tournament, which defeats the purpose. Stop blabbing on, can't believe people think it's a good idea to separate the two. Surely they would improve more if they played against male teams on LAN more often too, if they weren't playing in separate tournaments. I'm assuming you're probably fucking sticking it in some girl gamer too. You're that guy. Don't speak to me boy.

What is wrong with separated leagues? You see separated tourneys all trough classic sports too, and I'm not only talking about pure physical sports. In my opinion they make this separation based on classic physical sports. And they've continued to make this separation with 'new' and upcoming sports. Look a things like chess, curling, dressage (horsethingy),

Oh, so you are? That's really cool. Pathetic little argument. I'll stop here as everything you seem to reply with is a cringe-worthy flame attempt. You've only pasted some shit from google you don't understand.

"don't understand" you have shown from the start you had no idea there was a difference between the male and female.. so you are the one talking without understanding simple facts "cringe-worthy flame attempt" they are quite satisfying to me anyway, its normal you dont really understand what i am saying since you are obviously on a different level of intelligence

So most of you guys are complaining about males not able to compete in this tourney because of gender equality, but you guys NEVER complain about girls not able to attend EVERY other ('male')LAN announced on this website. Bit inconsistent boys..

I'm 99.9% sure that they can play in any tournament they desire as long as it's not invite only.

So apparently gender equality means screwing over the men? What a hilarious joke. "Gender Equality" my ass. Why didn't they just have a co-ed tournament? That would be equality.

Spain is a joke in terms of gender quality. Here you can't refute a woman cause it's frowned upon and you will be a male chauvinist even if you are super rational. Only for the fact to have a pussy you have an advantage in front of any man in terms of work, laws and whatever.

since males have an advantage over females its not surprising they cant compete for the top spots saying that organising a tournament for females is promoting gender equality, since theres way more lans and online tournaments for the male scene already gamegune just has bigger balls then all you cry babies put together

there's no "lans and online tournaments for the male scene", female teams can play those tournaments too, have you brain damage or something? nice logic!
