Next CS:GO update to adjust pistols

CS:GO developers have posted on their website stating their plans of adjusting the game's pistols in the next update after CZ75 having gained too much popularity.

The post begins with the developers analyzing the popularity of M4A1-S versus the M4A4, for which it was supposed to be an alternative, as the M4A4 was far too popular for the defensive side.

As you can see in their graph below, the M4A1-S has continued gaining in popularity in terms of being purchased more, as also shown at DreamHack Summer, where it contributed 87% more kills than the M4A4.

Still, the developers seem happy with this progress, so one shouldn't expect changes to the main rifles of the defensive side just yet. On the other hand, they see a problem with the CZ75.

CZ75's strength has been discussed often in the community in recent weeks, with our "What did we learn from DH Summer?" article even stating the gun is currently overpowered.

With players having more time to adjust to it, you can clearly see the CZ75's usage rate has gone off the charts. The developers say you can expect them to make some pistol changes in the next update.

I don't want it removed, it should just have its damage lowered to a value similar to the glock's damage (with the same armor penetration) so that it needs 2-3 hits in the head to kill an opponent depending on distance...this way, close quarters the CZ would still be effective, but not as effective as a freaking rifle... If they don't want to do that, just increase the cost to 800$ and lower the deagle's to 500 maybe...

if they nerf the damage given by the weapon then they need to add some more bullets if they will increase the cost of the CZ they most people will go back to the p250 and i think we will not longer see full buy on second rounds or eco rounds if they increase the recoil (which in my opinion is terible anyway) then the weapon will be really hard to control and i think many people will stop playing it, which means p250 and CZ purchases will be much more closer than it is now they can also change the fire speed which in my opinion could be quite good choice, cz is really op in the close distance and sometimes CZ is stronger than AK47

Well the p250 is very powerful but you need to score a headshot in order to have a chance, the CZ with lower damage but more bullets would be just an alternative... We'll just have to wait and see... To be honest, they should also do something with that tec-9...

Don't know why ppl say it's stupid. Is it overpowered? yes it is. But it has only 24 bullets. Not like you can keep spraying with it and get lucky. Dgl is shit in this game. P250 is decent enough but against guns you have almost no chance of winning a duel. Only two good pistols are usp and 57 which are only available for ct. So as a t if you loose first round, you are going to lose 3 for sure. In my opinion it will make the game boring. Only CZ gives the option to the t side to go aggressive and spice it up. And again, if you find it too good, drop your rifles and run with a cz. You have that option also :P.

24 bullets is enough to get 3 kills out of it, if you can use it properly. The gun is actually so fucking imba you can just get 2 easy kills with it, which is alot in eco, specially if 2 people on your team do it...

The CZ is the reason why maps are becoming even more CT sided and making T sides even more difficult, of course it's great to make comebacks, but sometimes you can also just fuck things up. Let's say you put the first round as T and fullbuy on the 2nd, if the CT puts the eco following and you don't plant the bomb, you are going to eco for 2 rounds as T, making the score already 2-1 for the CTs, with 1 free round for the CTs where they probably won't loose their weapon so economically they won't be in much trouble for the 5th round even if they don't put the 4th (first buy round)...

then play a good anti-eco gainst the cz. we used to lose a few ecos gainst these guns, but we figured out how to deal with. dont push full-equip into banana or second middle on inferno for example, when u know: there are lot of corners where a cz is deadly. the cz changed the game mechanics in eco/anti-ecos a bit, but i wouldnt say it is broken.

I'd say CZ is deadly on inferno, don't mind the place, it's a close quarter map. But still, the only good way to counter CZ is to play on range, but you still need to get to the bombsites as T, and that doesn't change much in the end... If CZ wasn't broken, it wouldn't get nerfed, DHS showed why the CZ was imba, hence the nerf.

Spray with the damage it already has is the problem... even if you miss head with spray, you still get 2 body shots and opponent is at 40 hp max... Eco rounds are meant to be lost, point is that u have to win the pistol round... What about AWP/CZ setup? If u manage to rush the awp that missed you 2 times, he pulls out CZ and you are F...ED!

It's one of the skill-based elements in CS:GO :-) Of you're pressing A (going left), then you have to press D (the opposide) immediately, if you want to stop and get perfect recoil and no "slide effect" :-) Stopspeed isn't a bad element in movement, it just makes the newbies even more newbies. :-)

The obvious thing would be to nerf the CZ headshot damage as that's the most overpowered thing about it. But could they be making the deagle and 5-7 more accurate and not touch the CZ. Would kinda make the other pistols more used, but it's obvious the CZ/P250 should always be most used as they're the cheapest.

The thing is: the p250 was a good choice, because +cheap +ok weapon in general Putting in the CZ as it is was 100% retarded, because +same price as p250 +way more effective, even than some more expensive weapons Now why would anyone buy another pistol in eco rounds? Honor might be the only reason. But that's something DEVELOPERS should have known BEFORE implementing this shit weapon. They could be like: "Ok, weapon is quite effective, it shouldn't be that cheap. Cheaper than Deagle? Ok..it shouldn't be as effective as it is" But they..just .....don't think it all. They have an intention what they wanna accomplish by adding it, but they obv. have no clue wtf they are doing.

In fact, there were 273 CZ75 kills at DreamHack; 164 more than with a P250, for which the CZ75 is supposed to be an alternative. from the dhs article. as can see, still 109 p250 frags. i support a nerf of the cz, but it should by no means be changed much. a slight adjustment of fire rate, recoil and spray accuracy and that should do.

I'm still using p250 and won't take CZ unless I don't have ammo left and thats a rare thing. p250 it's more effective for me against multiple players, as I can calmly tap the headshots which is kind'a hard with CZ as u can accidently sprey half of your ammo.

+1 i support nerfing the CZ also, i just dont agree that it is 'way more effective' in its current form than the p250. p250 is an amazing gun, easy to tap heads and does hella damage vs armor whenever i see pro teams do cz buy, i usually see at least one (if not two) who have p250

When u are being challanged against multiple enemys which are not in straight line try taping with CZ, how much luck u will think have on taking them all ? I can't tap it with it, because I bit too long hold on mouse1 and u burst 2-3 bullets instead of one-click shot, and if u miss, it's mostly death for u. While with p250 u could shoot all day long and hold mouse1 as much time as u want or need. U won't start bursting ammo and destroying your recoil with accidental mouse1 hold for a fjew miliseconds.

It pretty much left this overpowered SHIT pistol in for 4 months, just because they don't know how certain weapon additions and gameplay changes will affect the game. If they'd have SOME knowledge about the gameplay in CS they'd have actually put SOME thought into developing the CZ instead of just putting it in and be like: "Hey, let's wait 4 fucking month to realize this weapon we added for practically on reason is pure fucking shit" I wish there was a competitive mod for CS:GO. ( thata's what the dota2 dev team is actually doing...having a test-build ...)

How do you know for sure this wasn't done? As I said before, I am sure they had their reasons for it, they can't please everyone but many people like the idea of the gun, they just feel it is OP. Also, as it says in the article, it took 3months for any adverse effect on weapon usage and now that is noted that it is far too powerful/over used they are tweaking it.

Well I don't think weapon buy statistics would be accurate since there can be multiple factors that come into play. Factors such as price, maps, scenario, and player preference. Many players/teams switch from the m4a4 to the m4a1 and vice versa depending on the position they play on different maps. I feel that if they depend on these types of charts too much they might make the wrong decision one day, but for the very least I am happy they might be nerfing the CZ.

Also: taking stats from MM is not good anyway, esp. since changes based on those stats also affect the competitive scene. MM is a place for ALL kind of people. Competitive players, daily players ..people..that just wanna play around. You don't know how those stats are looking for the different kinda gamers within this large pool of different people. Competitive players might have another approach on buying certain weapons than casual players. CS:GO ...needs a competitive mod .... :/

Yup. I would love getting one-way smokes back, if its a choise between never run through a smoke cause its not matching what you visually are seeing, or the old one-way smokes, which in some way acquired skill to use/dogde. For me it feels like everything is getting more CT-sided, d2, inferno etc. Only because of the smokes. The only map that is getting more T sided in my head is Train. Basically because CT's have to run more through smokes than the T's. Right now the smokes are just killing the pase, cause if there is a smoke, you will NEVER see a pro team flash in it, and go up, cause its just to overpowered. Ct's can see you almost a whole second before the T's can... So valve, do something about it plZ! I know you don't want CT-sided maps, or at least not to much of it, but with stupid smokes, thats exactly what you get! :)

I don't think anybody uses all the ammo of glock nor USP-S. At least, I don't. You're right about removing some ammo of glock, I don't get the point of so much ammo. But IMO, they shouldn't add ammo for USP-S. There is no need.

How about glock? 20/120. USP must get 12/72. You run out of ammo too fast and only have 2 charges, while another random pistol has at least 4 charges, look at the alternative p2000 (13/52=4 charges)

Difference being in 1.6 you could buy ammo and in GO you cannot. People would usually buy more ammo for USP In 1.6 even though there's more mid range gunfights. Maps are narrower in GO and yet they limit your ammo and you cannot spam the USP at close range, it just doesn't sense

this game has like 20 guns many people (including NiP who later admitted it and said sorry) cannot be fucked learning to use new guns, they'd be happy just having AKs and nothing else instead what the developers are trying to do is make every gun viable, for a more interesting and compelling game with the CZ you've now got rid of every other pistol. guns used at the moment: AK, M4A1 and CZ. sometimes people AWP. how fucking boring. can't even use SMGs and shotguns second round.

Every pistol besides glock/usp deserves a damage nerf but CZ requires even a bigger one. The fact that when u buy headarmor and stuff like fiveseven/p250 can still 1shot you already makes the pistols stupid. Deagle is supposed to be that main strong pistol cause look at the damn price.

i think one of my concerns is how the ct side has many pistols to chose from compared to the t side where most people justrun to the p250 or cz, i think they should make the tec 9 more accurate and maybe even add a burst mode who knows :3

i used the CZ once and was like: why the fuck would i buy an ak or an awp or any other gun besides this thing?? i seriously played a matchmaking game with that just the whole time and it was nuts i unequipped it after because i felt dirty using it and went back to the p250 (its more fun to play eco rounds with the p250 because you have to actually aim for your kills, like what a concept???) fuck the cz nerf that OP shit please and ty

P250 + Armor was fine, and wasn't ridiculous like the CZ is. If you hit your shots, 1-2 is enough to kill a fully decked out person at medium range, it's stupid. I hope they reduce the body and headshot damage. You don't -need- armor with the CZ, and since you got armor with the P250, and CZ is so cheap, you can easily get it and come out way ahead of a P250.

Keen to reduce m4a4 spread a little, increase m4a1 bullets capacity and reserve ammo to 30/90 and swap the silenced/unsilenced spreads around. Also decreased silencer application time and change default state to being unsilenced. Deagle still needs a lil some'n some'n to compete with the p250/five7 too imo

Although I don't really agree with anything you said, the silencer thing is funny. You're in a 'war' and the guy is just gonna take an hour out of his rough day to take of the silencer... Instead of taking it off as quick as possible like he is haunted by the devil (which he actually is).

ok so valve didn't want a silenced m4 in csgo to start with because of what they saw as an unfair advantage for ct, but over time and millions of complaints they changed their mind. so why would they give the advantage to the silenced mode and also setup the weapon so no one at all uses the default unsilenced mode because the recoil is complete crap and it takes 9 and a half weeks to remove the silencer. why not go with the original cs formula of default mode is unsilenced, addition and removal of the silencer is fast and the damage/accuracy/range is balanced. if you're going to setup the m4a1 like that then you may as well give the awp proper quick scope etc.

You spend the 800$, your team lose pistol round and if you get one kill in the first round you can buy in the second one cz + helmet. Like you said the problem is not the power, is the price. Would be more than 400$ (trying to avoid if you get 1400$ in the second round the cz+helmet)and less than five-seven. which means 450$ a good price.

imo the pistol balance is perfect because we have cz that yes is good to spray and good while strafing like an smg but at the other side we have p250 with more magazine and better at long distance to tap any shot, so no reason to nearf the cz valve will make a big mistake to change things... and btw make something useful like improve dgl no??
