Japan to send team to ESWC finals

The ESWC organisers have announced that Japan will send one CS:GO team to compete at this year's world finals.

In the last weeks, the ESWC has been unveiling more details about the qualifying process for 2014's event, which will run from October 29th to November 2nd under the wings of Paris Games Week trade fair.

After previously announcing qualifiers in India and China, the ESWC continues to focus on the Asian market as Japan will put together its own qualifier, whose dates and locations have not yet been disclosed.

Little is known about Japan's CS:GO scene, but in one of the rare occasions where a Japanese team has competed on an international level, during the East Asian Championship 2014, they did not fare too well, as Ameriflora finished at the bottom of their group following defeats to Legends and H5.

Below you can find the list of the qualifiers and affiliated tournaments that have so far been announced:

France France Canada North America
Canada North America United Kingdom United Kingdom (Gfinity LAN)
India India China China
Japan Japan

France team vs. A NA-team in the final, this is going to be a boring event. An event that will have one, max two even good matches. I'm don't counting on the Indian vs. Japan/China-teams to be any good at all, not skillwise, not stratwise (Chinese team will ofc have something up in their sleeves as always).

Yes by bringing teams that will get destroyed in the group stage, instead of inviting teams that could possibly get into the semis or win the tournament...

You don't even know who's gonna participate , and you already start bitching ?The invites still haven't all been attributed, and not all the qualifiers are announced yet, but you feel the need to whine about csgo being more global ?You kids don't know what you want, and that's better because you're not the organisators of big events. You gotta invite international teams if the cs community wanna csgo to get reconsidered by ESL so they can include it in the IEMs.

Yes because ESL didn't clearly say that CS:GO won't be a part of IEM. That's why they've created ESL One so CS has some tournament under ESL and they don't have to change anything. It really doesn't matter who is going to participate, teams from these regions aren't at the EU level anyway, so they will get destroyed. Unless someone starts supporting these regions so that these teams are even capable of beating a semi-pro EU team there is no reason to give the slot to them instead of good EU teams that could gain more from this tournament then them.

I'm sorry but the WC system really sucks. Even if there's 5 people in Japan that really like CS, it's hurting NA/EU by limiting their opportunities.

Yeah, but CS is already popular in NA/EU. I'm thinking that they are hoping this will boost popularity in other regions and lead to a future of worldwide competitive teams.

Does anyone else end up playing on Japan's servers? I'm guessing China? Is there any chance that they play MM in English? I'm moving to Japan next month.

I'm usually placed on NA servers and I'm forced to play with ping 80-150. So i guess language is not your biggest problem.
