coL shock NiP in ESEA opener
DreamHack Summer champions Ninjas in Pyjamas have been sent to the Lower Bracket at the ESEA Finals following a 1-2 defeat against compLexity.
compLexity came out very strongly in the first half on de_inferno, picking up an early 3-0 lead. In the first gun round, NiP danced to Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert's tune as the North American hot-shot got a quad kill to further enlarge his team's lead.
Richard "Xizt" Landström then reduced the deficit by giving his team their first round of the match, but NiP's recovery was short lived, though, as coL replied right after and picked up three rounds in a row to make it 7-1 for them.
Adam "friberg" Friberg set the pace in the following round with two entry kills in the banana area, pushing NiP all the way to a 5-7 scoreline. The last three rounds of the first half were neck-and-neck, with coL eventually picking up a 9-6 lead as they switched to the Terrorist side.
Friberg once again caught the eye in the pistol round as he won the decisive 1-on-2, which helped NiP to level the score on nine rounds. In the first gun rounds Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg and Sean "sgares" Gares drew admiring glances as they pulled off quad kills each, with neither team being able to stamp their authority on the game.
With coL leading the sore 12-11, Spencer "Hiko" Martin produced some highlight material as he got four great kills to his name in a 2-on-5 situation. Rounds kept going back and forth, and even though NiP eventually managed to close the gap on 13-14, a well-timed A split followed by a B rush gave coL a 16-13 victory on the map.

Hiko: Man of the match
Starting off on the Terrorist side on de_cache, coL were able to pick up where they had left off, winning a pistol round that was leaning towards NiP, who had twice as many men left alive as their opponents.
In the first anti-eco round, coL were stunned by NiP's great positioning as the home side were completely slaughtered while making their way to the bombsite. Winning this round allowed the Swedes to gain control of the match and pick up five rounds in succession, the last of which came cortesy of Richard "Xizt" Landström's quick ace on A.
coL then pulled back to reduce the deficit to 2-5, but some great AWP work from Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund in the A site kept their opponents at bay. It was only at this point that coL finally managed to string some rounds together as they closed the gap to just two rounds.
With the scoreline 7-5 in favour of NiP, Richard "Xizt" Landström stopped coL's A rush with a triple kill, with Todd "anger" Williams replying in the following round with three kills of his own. In the final round, coL fell short against the eco strategy from NiP, who were up 9-6 at the break.
In the second half, NiP got off to a great start and further enlarged their lead by winning the first three rounds. The first gun round also went their way, and even though Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert still tried to put a hault to NiP's incredible run, the Swedish side remained in the driving seat as they ran out 16-7 winners on this map.

NiP managed to take the game to a third map
On de_dust2, coL got to start on the highly-favoured Terrorist side and they came out the brighter on this map, winning the pistol round without losing a single player. In gun play, the North American side’s catwalk push caught NiP’s players by surprise and gave coL a commanding 4-0 lead.
Sean "sgares" Gares then dropped the ball by dying in the double doors, allowing Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg to pick an AWP up and put it to great use with three kills to his name to make it 1-4. A mid-B split in the following round caught NiP’s players off-guard, mostly because of Spencer "Hiko" Martin’s double kill, with the North American player deserving one big round of applause later on as he won a 1-on-4 situation. At this point NiP were looking more and more lost, so it was with little surprise that the Swedes were down by nine rounds at half time.
Things then went from bad to worse for NiP as they lost the first three rounds of the second half, and even though they were able to string three rounds together, it was too little too late for them as coL picked up a 16-6 win to progress to the semi-finals of the tournament, while the Swedens have been left wondering what went wrong.
