iBP ease past OverGaming

iBUYPOWER are through to the Upper semi-finals in Dallas following a comfortable 2-0 victory against OverGaming.

Heading into this match  as red-hot favourites, iBUYPOWER proved that they mean business in this tournament and dominated the game from the early stages, with Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham picking up three kills in the pistol round to put his team in the lead.

The first gun round actually went to OverGaming, but iBP showed that it was just a fluke and took five consecutive rounds to take the scoreline to 8-1. OverGaming then reduced the deficit by winning two rounds in a row, the second of which thanks to a good retake in the A site, but the Spaniards were stunned by Sam "DaZeD" Marine’s impressive tripe kill, which powered iBP to stroll to a commanding 12-3 lead.

The second half followed pretty much the same pattern, with iBP simply running riot as OverGaming were no match for the North American giants, who comfortably ran out 16-3 winners.

steel's iBUYPOWER too strong for OverGaming

On de_nuke, iBP once again claimed bragging rights first, but despite losing the pistol round, Over Gaming looked a lot sharper, suspicions that were confirmed right after as the Spanish team won the eco round, with Juan "meisoN" Carlos Chacón getting three kills to his name.

For the first time in this match, OverGaming managed to take the lead but in the fifth round they were outplayed while entering the upper site as Sam "DaZeD" Marine took down three opponents while standing beside the squeaky door. From this point on, the Spanish team were simply no match for their opponents, who took 11 rounds in a row to head into the second half with a nine-round lead.

After the break, iBP executed an almost perfect pistol round, taking down four opponents before planting the bomb. Antonio "FlipiN" Rivas still managed to get two kills, but there was simply nothing that he could do to win the round.

Down 3-14, OverGaming went on a buy, a strategy that proved to be successful, with Jonathan "MusambaN1" Torrent then turning the heat on as he picked up a handful of AWP kills to keep his side in the race. However, all the Spaniards could do was simply delay the inevitable, as iBP won the last two rounds they needed to claim a 16-6 victory and move on in the Upper Bracket.

Exactly same team. Bad role choices, though. And now I'm down because of taxes.

I actually changed most of my team, because of those bastards who picked Hiko. Released steel and minikerr for Fifflaren (even though he sucks) and byali.

Yeah, but I think it's too much of a risk having 2 OEFers. Even if they overcome NaVi, they'll still have two matches today. I can see they going 2-1 over NaVi and 0-2 against coL and NiP. 2-5 would fuck us in the ass lol

iBP is #1 seed NA and they play vs #4 seed EU, in this case OG. If Dignitas would've went to ESEALAN, NaVi would've been the #4 seed EU and Dignitas would be #2 seed EU playing vs Netcode Gaming.

I dont care , lol. I mean OG took place over Dignittas , didnt they ? And I mean for NA to be > EU approriate teams should find their skill opponents not some 40 old guys who cant play so what I mean is that if Dignitas would play it would be definetly Dignitas > IBP. I dont care if they wouldnt be placed in same group :< to be honest OG is like top 20 in EU so cant be surprised to see them getting stomped by top 1-2 NA team. P.S. The word of 'seed' and my understandment of meaning is so disturbing and confusing could be that I didnt understad what the actual fuck I wrode.

#1 NA vs #4 EU <- OG or NaVi if Dignitas was at the lan #2 NA vs #3 EU <- NaVi or VP if Dignitas was at the lan #3 NA vs #2 EU <- VP or Dignitas if they were at the lan #4 NA vs #1 EU <- NiP so iBP wouldn't play Dignitas right away.. they'd play them in the next round.. and they could probably take 1 map from Dignitas and give them a run for their money in the other ones.

What you base that on? - NIP just lost to Complexity in a bo3 On paper NIP is better than Dignitas and IBP are better than Complexity.

I will have to agree. NA teams have been stepping up a lot lately, plus, I love the American playstyle, don't ask me why but I actually find NA's games more interesting and entertainment

For one they rarely play with set strats, they try to get entries and go full-on yolo most of the time.

yeah, that's the thing. One thing I've noticed is that you guys play the game, depending on the other's team playstyle, and you do not follow a certain way to play. Don't know if you got my point there tho xD

Agree. Most of my favorite teams are from EU, but watching iBP play is usually a bit more exciting than the standard EU teams.

EU>NA everybody already knows it. We played in NA, home groud for americans. All the europeans landed with their plane the day before they were going to play, showed a lack of weakness cause of being tired. We had 3 maining awp in EU all-*, when you guys only had 1. It's much harder for the europeans to communicate with eachother since they have to speak english.

So why is it fair to expect NA to beat EU teams on their home soil? It goes the same for EU teams. Why don't we make this even, go to Asia or something and play there :) Neutral land. Until then any result on NA soil is worth just as much as on EU soil.

Can anyone explain why OverGaming bothered coming all this way? There was maybe a 1 or 2% chance of return on investment

As I recall ESEA offers a fairly generous prize distribution for the teams that attend LAN. Regardless of how they place they'll at least win something. Prize distribution: play.esea.net/index.php?s=esports&d=comm..

I don't think OG had a chance to win this, because obviously as 4th seed they're supposed to lose to NA's top seed. But I think the match could have been closer, if the match hadn't been played from 4am to 6am CEST. The jetlag surely had an influence imo.
