coL over Virtus to ESEA grand final

compLexity have bested Virtus.pro 2-1 (11-16 de_cache, 16-7 de_inferno, 16-13 de_season) to advance to the ESEA S16 grand final, where they will take on iBUYPOWER.

compLexity had a good start to their defensive side on de_cache, going up 3-0. A one-on-one win by Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert then made it 4-0, and his triple in a B retake 6-0.

A pair of doubles by Filip "Neo" Kubski and Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski won the Poles their first round, but even Kubski's triple next round wasn't enough, as Gilbert and Spencer "Hiko" Martin won a two-on-two.

Up 7-1, Kory "Semphis" Friesen's double equalized two entries by Pogorzelski, and coL extended their lead to 8-1. That started a Virtus.pro comeback, with them easily taking over B.

Another round win forced coL to save, and Virtus then split the A bombsite to make it 5-8. Gilbert put up two CZ75 kills on save, but Kubski's triple got Virtus their sixth round.

TaZ and n0thing have met plenty of times before

Sean "sgares" Gares then peeked middle aggressively with his AWP, and scored three early picks before falling back, and securing his team a 9-6 lead, after five straight losses.

The North Americans got into a four-on-two in the second pistol round, but Pogorzelski and Kubski came through with a big two-on-four clutch. Gares got into a one-on-one with Pogorzelski on round three, but fell short.

compLexity split the A bombsite next two rounds, and got up 11-9. Then Jarząbkowski opened the round with two kills in the middle, and smart smokes in A by Virtus shut coL down next to tie the score.

At 11-11 coL had to save, and Pogorzelski's early pick got his team to thirteen. He then won a one-on-one next round, and Kubski's following one-on-one in A gave Virtus map point.

With their backs against the wall, compLexity ran out of options on their terrorist side, and got mowed down by Pogorzelski and Jarząbkowski in the middle with Virtus closing de_cache out 16-11.

The trophy these guys are competing for, along with $20,000

Friesen scored a quad kill to win compLexity their terrorist pistol round on de_inferno. However, Gilbert lost a one-on-one in the A site next round, surredering a save round to Virtus.

Having planted the bomb, coL still bought. They easily took over the B site, and quickly found themselves up 4-1, when Todd "anger" Williams' two kills effectively got them to six.

Doubles by Pogorzelski and Paweł "byali" Bieliński got the Poles their second round, but compLexity went on another run, that included an odd Martin walk-in into A, and extended their lead to 11-2.

Virtus.pro finally won a round on the second last round, but coL quickly evened it out, winning the final round. Down 3-12, Virtus caught a break with coL taking all of their players out in B, but unable to defuse in time.

At 6-13 Kubski instructed his team to attack B, but got shut down. They tried it again a round later, and found their last piece of success on the second map of the series.

This time Hiko was a mere mortal, but n0thing was not

Down 7-13, compLexity shut down Virtus in A, pushed aggressively against a force buy and then saw former in-game leader Gares close the map down with a one-on-one win at 16-7.

Jarosław "pasha" Jarząbkowski scored a triple in B to start deciding map de_season, but Friesen's team once again bought early, and forcing Virtus on a save allowed them to tie the game at two.

Virtus won four straight rounds with great play by Pogorzelski on the next two rounds, but Friesen and Gilbert teamed up to win a two-on-three killing all five opponents to win coL their third round.

At 6-3 Bieliński's two early kills were enough to win Virtus their seventh round, but then their game came crashing down. First coL won a CZ75 round forcing Virtus on save, and then Friesen's double got them to six.

coL won the next round as well, but finally it was Pogorzelski who once again chimed in with a big play to secure Virtus.pro a slight 8-7 lead at half time, before Virtus' terrorist half.

sgares thanking Virtus for a good game

Left in a one-on-two with one health, Wojtas couldn't save their terrorist pistol round. However, Bieliński's one-on-two clutch tied the game once again, this time at nine, a few rounds later.

He came close to winning a one-on-three right after, but after saving Virtus trailed 9-11. Gilbert's two flank kills on a B retake won coL another round, and forced the Poles on another save.

Down 10-13 Kubski scored a triple to keep them in the game, but Williams won a key one-on-one aim duel versus Wojtas in the A bombsite to give compLexity a 14-10 lead.

Kubski put in another triple to get Virtus within three, and they grinded home another round to get to within one. However, Williams' two CZ75 kills won coL a save, and gave them game point at 15-12.

Virtus still broke compLexity's money with a well coordinated A attack, but ultimately lost the series with Gilbert scoring three kills on a save, including two CZ75 kills to clinch compLexity a 16-13 win.

 Complexity K - D +/- ADR KAST Rating1.0
91 - 48 +43 - - 1.66
57 - 49 +8 - - 1.04
51 - 53 -2 - - 0.97

Virtus.pro have to settle for third place and $4,500 at ESEA Finals. compLexity will play iBUYPOWER in the grand final, where they must win two best-of-three series to win the title.

Well it was unfortunate they had to play so much, but the whole snax situation screwed up the whole schedule. And dropping to the lower bracket so early didn`t help either.

Dont be so fishy, muricans. Im also coL fan since 2004 but ur cocky comments makes me so fucking angry. Both eu teams dont take this event too serious and that is obviously not excuse. Be happy for your scene and lets enjoy the fucking matches without your useless trashtalks. n0thing still one of the bestest. gl col

Plenty of euros do exactly the same thing when euro teams win. If it actually upsets you that much then stay away from the comments of HLTV, bro

oh, and can you plz stfu about jetlags, timezones and stuff? coL played better than VP, so they won. Period. ESEA organizers already did a lot to fit VP situation ;)

NA finals because only ESEA maps season and cache. Europeans don't play this maps in any events. So easy for americans.

Im impressed by NA teams, they for sure have studied strats of eu teams and prepare Im impressed by vp as well, we dont see them often playing maps like cache and season but they are pretty good in it For sure better edition of ESEA then year ago, only a shame for schedule for vp, but I have in mind that Snax arrived later ggwp

Omg lol why you blame the maps. Virtus.Pro could have easily veto'd season. I dont know why they didn't want to play d2, train or nuke or even mirage.

Due to 'imaginary jetlag' 3 virtus pro matches in a row -> 4-5h time of sleep -> next 2 matches in a row( almost all of them took full 3 maps ) No time for preparations, nothing. CoL could just sit and watch every v.pro game to see used tactics/rotation times. Sadly those things will be called by muricans as lame excuses, and from now on col,ibp top 1 WORLD forever!

VP not played bad at all. It was n0th!ng that was just far outperforming. However they lost 3 ecos to cts in last map and now I am fun of changes to cz25 as it is far too cheap. And those last round killz by nothing, seriously, even rifles can, t do that.

VP was awful as CTs, they showed how little practice they have on it. I wouldn't be surprised if the other teams start pushing them to play season every series. imho it is time tuscan gets introduced to the tournament map pool. the EU teams suck at season quite badly.

Actually I am happy with this results. We will see soon in european tournament (which are supposed to be top of the table). I hope that both coL and iBP will perform well and we will have nice competitive scene. There is no point in flexing muscles after one tournament. I am really cheering for NA teams to perform well in EMS One Cologne :)
