ESL One NA qualifier announced

ESL have announced details for its North American ESL One Cologne qualifier, which will award the winners with a spot at the $250,000 event in mid-August.

The top eight finishers from EMS One Katowice received direct invitations to ESL One Cologne, and the European pre-qualifiers, which will ultimately add six more participants to the event, are already running.

The final two spots will go to representatives from Oceania, with two time CS:GO major participant Vox Eminor as heavy favorites, and to North America, which hosts online qualifications for the spot.

iBUYPOWER are favorites to qualify for Cologne from North America

iBUYPOWER now have to go head-to-head against the continent's finest, minus compLexity, to earn a spot at the $250,000 tournament on August 14-17 at GamesCom.

ESL One Cologne NA qualifier will be played out on July 15-16 using a single elimination best-of-three format. Map pool includes the usual five Valve sanctioned maps, and you can register here.

coL and iBP are the only ones that could compete and coL is already invited. iBP will dominate the qualifier so 1 is fine

A event with so big prizepool should have More slots tbh, maybe up to 24 teams, then u Will fit in a few lower tier teams aswell dat can Get in the fight with the big dogs, would be good for the scene as a whole i think.

Definitely 32. The only problem with that is that ESL probably doesn't want to have too many games to manage. If the game grows even more in popularity they might change their mind.

Well dont think they Will go from 16 to 32 dat quick but y why not, hopefully not to far away, but 16 for me is not enough, the top 5 might not make much diffrent with 32 teams but i think we can Get alot of iteresting matches and results

If coL wasn't already invited, I'd agree, but currently only IBP is worth attending this event so it's not a problem.

iBP should just be invited in place of LGB/TEAMGLOBAL who no longer exist? Then the rest of the NA scene can fight for this spot.

Well NA teams are basically fighting for that second spot which is wide open since IBP will likely take the first one. So its sorta like they're already invited as they should have a problem against any of the teams they face since complexity is already invited.

I believe ESL rules state that even with 3 players from the line-up you can claim the spot, so even if KRIMZ and olofm are not with them, they may still come as a mix team or a newly formed line-up. I hope not however, I'd prefer a spot for an Asian team.

ESL system is so bad. No asia, south america and others zones qualifiers. They need to learn of LCS League of Legends, WCS Starcraft or International Dota2.

When Vox eminor (#1 AU team) attended Msi Beat it 2013, they rekt all the asian teams.

u want to know why? because VoX is a overall good team just not a top team id classify them as tier2 material but on any major. VoX have to prove themselves against EU teams first then we can see if they are good last time they got pwned hard
