zonic's zoom: Inside mTw

Hey guys, I’m just gonna give you guys a quick update in how things are going in mTw. I will write about the end of 2007, our change with hpx and briefly about our beginning in 2008, and hopefully about success in the nearest future.

The end of 2007

2007 ended with Dreamhack 2007, Sweden, where we used whiMp instead of ave. Ave had to visit his parents in Belgium so he couldn’t attend the event. Anyways we started out as expected, won the first matches until we ran into the new powerhouse from France, McPoker.emuLate. We knew them pretty well since we played them in the final at WCG, and I must admit that even though whiMp is a great player, we felt like the underdogs without our tacleader ave. We ended up losing in overtime and we, from my perspective, threw the match away.

Later on in the lower Semifinal we lost to SK, who played a great match on de_nuke, and finished 5^th.

The break, 2008 and hpx.

After Dreamhack we decided to take a break, and we joined up in mTw.PokerRoom which is a great organization. We started playing again in the beginning of January, but it was a strange feeling, we still need some time in mTw, before we can feel home. We really felt NoA was something we rebuild from scratch and that it was our team.

Anyways we threw away some REALLY important tournaments (NGL One, Extreme Masters) and when Gravitas Gaming decided to split up, we needed to improve the team by letting hpx go. hpx is not just a great player, but also my best friend in real life, so I really felt (feel) sad about that substitution, however it’s great to play with Jonas again, and he is really a madfragger, so hopefully we will win at least one of the big events this year.

Now we are moving on after the disappointment with Extreme Masters and NGL One, so we are preparing for the upcoming Samsung European Championship.

mTw, right now

Right now we are bootcamping in Denmark, preparing for SEC, things are going really good.

mibr are bootcamping in Sweden, so we are playing with them a lot, as well with MYM (former PGS) who is bootcamping in Copenhagen. We have made a lot of new tactics, basicly we just changed everything for the new year, and we have some great tactics compared to last year. We just got ourselves some fine computers from mTw, so the players are extremely motivated, especially whiMp who is happy we gave him the chance. Actually one week after he joined, he kept sending me sms’ in the morning, where it said “Oh, I'm so happy you guys gave me the chance!!”

Like I wrote, we are playing a lot, and ave is playing 20 hours more than us, and he is amazing at the moment, so spec him at SEC! :DD
