Epsilon beat NiP, top group A

Epsilon have upset NiP 16-6 (9-6, 7-0) on de_cobblestone to win group A at ESL One Cologne. NiP will play HellRaisers next in an elimination game.

Epsilon started their match against NiP as terrorists, and successfully took out the Swedes' A defense to win the pistol round and go up 3-0 on de_cobblestone.

NiP had two good save rounds, and picked Epsilon apart on round four, forcing them on a save. In a key round then, Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon and Fabien "⁠kioShiMa⁠" Fiey won a two-on-three.

The Ninjas went for a buy and got the first two kills, but the Frenchmen still took out B, forcing NiP on a save. Down 2-6, a double by Patrik "⁠f0rest⁠" Lindberg in the middle got NiP a round.

Even a triple by kioShiMa wasn't enough next, as NiP rallied to bring the score to 5-6, with in-game leader Richard "⁠Xizt⁠" Landström scoring a quad-kill against a CZ75 save.

Epsilon surprised by taking out NiP to top group A

Epsilon adjusted by quickly attacking A, and out-aimed NiP to take the site. A triple by kioShiMa in a B attack then forced NiP on a save, which they came close to winning.

Final round of the half went to NiP as the French ran out of time attacking the B site, largely thanks to Adam "⁠friberg⁠" Friberg delaying the attackers from the back of the site.

A huge quad-kill by Gordon "⁠Sf⁠" Giry got Epsilon the second pistol round, and although NiP again had good save rounds, it wasn't enough, as they weren't able to win more rounds.

Fourth round saw Joey "⁠fxy0⁠" Schlosser humiliate NiP with a knife kill on Robin "⁠Fifflaren⁠" Johansson, and they sweeped the Swedes' slow A bombsite attack without any issues.

Next round saw Sf put up a triple kill to shut NiP out in A, and a triple kill, plus a leg shot, by shox got them to fifteen rounds. Epsilon closed the game out next round.

That is the best thing to do in this major tournaments, because there is lots of people that say that team sucks, that one will win, and that one should disband. They simple don't understand that playing at that level puts a lot of pressure over your shoulders because you need to make that kill, or that 1vs2/3 clutch or you are out... Besides the BO1 is stupid, they should do 8 team groups like in G3 that would be more fair.

Really clear that NIP are not in tournament winning shape here, even if they manage to get out of groups over HR. they are probably 10% better than what they were at G3. Epsilon will move on ... but will most likely be pummeled in quarters by VP/Titan/fnatic/Dig .. just like at G3. They just have psychological edge over NIP and HR at the moment. In a way this is the best group draw that they could have hoped for. They recently crushed HR 16-0 and had a huge comeback win over NIP at G3. Taking nothing away from Shox and co .. they simply out-thought(?) and out-aimed NIP in long range duals at cbblestone. Well thought out map choice by Epsilon I must say. NIP on the other hand is just horrendous at choosing maps.

Yep, what's happening to NiP is what happened to VeryGames/Titan, they stay on their level while not improving, whereas other teams improve and eventually go past them.

it is a shitty map in its current state, way too big . It was however nice to see epsilon play it and really show that they know how to deal with it, first game on it that i got the feeling i was watching a real competetive game and not some sniperpartyinthebackofeachbombsite.

Well f0rest had two kills more, xizt had 4 kills more and friberg had one less kill than them. So no one in NiP played good.

Yeah, everyone in NiP played bad. Everyone had the same amount of kills kinda, just that some got eco bashes etc. But it's hltv logic to say that people plays bad when just the others have like 2 kills more cuz of ecos :)))
