ESEA S17 with $78,000 for CS:GO

ESEA has announced that it will give away $78,000 across its CS:GO divisions in Europe and North America.

ESEA S17 is already well underway both in Europe and in North America, but only recently have the league organisers started to announce details about the global finals, that will pit the top teams from each region against each other.

Last week, ESEA confirmed that the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Dallas will once again host the LAN finals, which will be taking place from November 21st to 23rd, and that the tournament will be preceded by the Invite All-Star game.

It has now been announce that ESEA has allocated $78,000 for CS:GO, with $47,500 once again going exclusively to the global division, distributed in the following way:

  • 1. - $20,000
  • 2. - $6,000
  • 3. - $4,500
  • 4. - $4,000
  • 5-6. - $3,500
  • 5-6. - $3,500
  • 7-8. - $3,000
  • 7-8. - $3,000

The rest of the prize purse will go to the other divisions (premier, main, intermediate and open in North America, main, intermediate and open in Europe) that ESEA is hosting in both regions.

They should really give more for 2&3 place teams and give less to 5-8

They changed the prize pool distribution so it was worth it for all European teams to fly over. Previous it was distributed like you want, but only one -- maybe two European teams would come.

But now, if you finish 2nd that doesn't even cover the travel costs. I know the org pays the costs and players keep the winnings but still the ratio is mediocre.

Just barely, if it does. Intercontinental flights + hotel + food for 5 people is a lot of money.

Is it covered by the remaining money left over after the LAN prize pot? Or some of it at least?

No. The whole season is 90k+. They then make it seem like the CS:GO lan is 90k when it is really just 47k.
