ESWC to use Valve's map pool
The ESWC organisers have announced that de_overpass and de_cobblestone have been added to to this year's event map pool.
ESL One Cologne was the first big event to use the active duty map pool proposed by Valve, which sees de_overpass and de_cobblestone replacing de_train and de_season.
In a bid to converge the number of maps used worldwide, the ESWC has now announced that Valve's map pool will be adopted in the male and female CS:GO tournaments that will be hosted at this year's finals, from October 29th to November 2nd.
This means that the following seven maps will be played at the ESWC finals:
- de_nuke
- de_dust2
- de_inferno
- de_mirage
- de_cache
- de_cobblestone
- de_overpass
However, in order not to interfere with the teams' preparation for the upcoming qualifiers, the map pool for the national and regional tournaments will remain the following:
- de_nuke
- de_dust2
- de_inferno
- de_mirage
- de_cache
- de_season
- de_train
Meanwhile, the ESWC announced that it will stick to its traditional veto system, in which teams remove maps until there is one left if it is a best-of-one match. In case it is a best-of-three match, each team will ban one map, pick one and then ban one again, in this order. The last map will be the decider.
