de_tuscan finally comes to CS:GO

No, you didn't misread. After teasing it all week, Colin "Brute" Volrath has finally - actually - released his oft-requested map de_tuscan for CS:GO.

Fans have been waiting for the map to get the official CS:GO treatment since October of 2012 when, during an interview with Vakarm.net, Volrath stated that he was aiming for de_tuscan to be ready in time for DreamHack Winter.

In the almost two years since, pro-players in particular became quite vocal about their desire for de_tuscan to become an official map - a desire that was recently renewed after Valve controversially removed de_train from the competitive map pool, replacing it with de_overpass and de_cobblestone.

Today, de_tuscan is available for download for CS:GO from the Steam Workshop. The map is still in beta, and requires support from the community before it can be officially integrated into one of the map pools in a future major update or 'operation'.

It's real, and you can play it now.

With the current operation, 'Breakout', set to end on October 2, it's possible that, provided it passes Valve's standards and receives enough support, de_tuscan will be playable on official servers in just a few short months.

You don't have to ignore the facts before saying people are ungrateful. Of course people are ungrateful when it takes the guy 2 years to release a map that was easily re-made and called de_toscan, which he denied and didn't accept to be part of anything. Furthermore toscan still has lot better textures and more soothing for the eyes. Either way it's good that it's finally here, but hes definitely not any god.

after checking the map i felt like there are a lot of new useless spots where you can hide to save for ex. also banana and catwalk seem to be 1.5x less longer, anyone else noticed that? + too dark. however, i'd love to see it in the upcoming operation, just because it's tuscan; not ideal, but still playable.

Tuscan from 1.6 is more colorful, and have better textures. I would say this is more of css copy of tuscan, with that brown, dark theme that i don´t like. But better something than nothing.

Lol, you can´t compare valve maps with workshop maps. In very best we will see this map in operation, and after some time, if it get picked by tourneys we can see it in competitive map pool like in cache. Brute have nothing to do with valve right now, so THEY are not putting this map on test, brut is letting us so he can fix this map and hope for operation, nothing else.

To much colors, if you asked me. I dont like that, cuz it reminds me on single player games with missions, and those kind of stuffs. Maps in CS:GO should be more simplier, since there is no need for strong colors. Also, to much plants and other stuffs, is good in terms, that you can make good positions, but cuz of colorness of the map, it would be rly hard to see opponent. I like 1.6 version, map was mostly in 1 color, and that was good, cuz you had clear vision. For 2 years, he could do this a lot better tbh.

Honestly brute, compaired to 1.6 and Source, this shit looks god damn awfull! Stop make it so detailed and everything, if you have followed the competitive scene you clearly saw that Tuscan has been a big thing in CS. This map was great, every single tournament had the map in the pool, GO version on the other hand is completely unplayable, fix short/B to the way it was in CSS and 1.6.. This right now just looks awfull! In my opinion Valve should use "de_toscan" cuz this shit looks trash.

The textures used on the floor and wall some places are extremely annoying. Not sure why he didn't just learn from toscan by making it smooth and lovely. I don't mean to hate, but it really irritates me this whole thing when I'm forced to play something I find terrible, and there is a much better version out there that aren't allowed to be used.

shut the fuck up. what you and other idiots on this website don't seem to grasp with your "omg what is all this shit objects" etc is that the map NEEDS to have some detail and aesthetics to meet valve requirements otherwise it wont be included in an operation. the ripoff 'toscan' for example would never be selected because it is plain has no detail. even though this is better for classic cs gameplay, it doesn't meet the set criteria where it will appeal to serious players as well as casual players and this is necessary before valve will include it in an operation update. as for the retaking B comment, its a fucking beta and this is clearly stated. brute knows there is going to be bugs and they will be fixed.

Where do I begin? [-] Lighting needs adjustments. Some areas are bright as hell, some are too dark. Too much fog (especially on mid). [-] Overall aesthetics... well... I've been to Tuscany, and it looks nothing like this map. :D [-] Some areas are claustrophobic and cluttered. I'd make it cleaner. [-] Please for the love of god forget this scaffolding thing, it looks so awful that my english vocablulary is not good enough to express it. [-] You can't jump from B lobby to bridge? Are you serious?!:D (Maybe i'm just a total noob but I didn't succeed.) [-] Many unnecessary details obstuct vision unnecessarily. [+] Wallbangs are okey for the most part. Like the brick boxes on B, some safe spots for CT's to hide on a bombsite that isn't easy to defend. [+] Size ratio is good. It takes approx. the same amount of time to run through tunnels as it took in css and 1.6. Also timings on B and A are all well adjusted, CT's can take positions before T's. How do I feel overall? I don't like how it looks. Too dark and too dirty for me. It looks more like a town in africa than a mediterranean village. I don't like that you have to boost to bridge and can't just jump up. Maybe it's good for the balance, but my first impression is that it's bad. Also please FORGET THE SCAFFOLDING and remove objects that obstuct vision for no reason. There are many. Playable? Yes. Great map? No... Would I play in matchmaking? Probably yes.

One of the overall main things to adjust is to make the map brighter, the map is too dark in some areas... Bad for play, bad for health - eyes... Playing games is already bad for eyes, so lets not make it even worse... The brightness of the CS 1.6 version of the map was probably ideal... IMHO

Well, toscan feels like a better map. Just running on tuscan already doesn't feel very good. I honestly can't see this map as a competitive map, as it is right now ( beta, i know ). The whole visuals of the map...look awkward. The only way i see this map going anywhere....let FMPone make it pretty. for now: toscan > tuscan. Sadly. After 2 years. Regards

What about de_toscan? Looks so much better, without many of the bugs and details that are not needed. You can also get up to the bridge at short easy, which is SO important for retakes and rotate.. I think we should upvote that to get in the next operation.

does any of you understand that in order to become an official map and be added to majors, it needs to meet Valves requeriments? and those requeriments are visuals>>gameplay, so the map NEEDS to like like other official maps (clutter, light and shadows, call of dutyish) in order to be considered for even being added to an operation, even if it interferes with optimal gameplay.

because every lan wants the 250k from valve and have to follow their rules. Every organizer can play whatever maps they want, but they are likely to never be supported by valve. Valve wants maps to be good for the majority of their playerbase, which means angry 16 years PS3 CoD players, not for the minority who likes competitive cs.

Cant really say this map blows my mind. Atleast theres a version that can be played in leagues and such though. -- Different ways of playing, rotating are a nice idea. But why the hell did you remove the ability to get to B high from yard? Map needs polishing and better textures. Too many invisible walls that make the gameplay awkward.
