ESWC with $50,000 for CS:GO

The Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) organisers have announced that this year's CS:GO male tournament will feature a $50,000 prize purse.

The 11th edition of the prestigious French event with take place from October 29th to November 2 in Paris, with 24 teams from all over the world locking horns in the male CS:GO tournament.

This will be the biggest CS:GO tournament the ESWC has staged, both in terms of the number of teams and in the prize purse that will be up for grabs.

With Dota 2 left out of the tournament list for this year's event, it is no surprise that CS:GO is the game with the biggest slice of the ESWC's $116,000 total prize purse.

ESWC 2014 CS:GO male prize distribution:

1. $20,000
2. $15,000
3. $10,000
4. $5,000

Meanwhile, the ESWC has announced that Bahrain will host its own CS:GO qualifier, meaning that the participants' list for the male tournament currently looks as follows:

United States iBUYPOWER Canada Mobility Gaming
Japan Cipangu.GO Poland Virtus.pro
France France France France
India India Algeria Algeria
Portugal / Spain Meet uP Norway Norway
Bahrain Bahrain China China

There will also be a female CS:GO tournament, featuring eight teams, including last year's champion, Bad Monkey Gaming. This competition will feature a considerably lower prize purse than its male counterpart, as there will be $10,000 at stake, distributed as follows:

1. $5,000
2. $3,000
3. $2,000

Yeah, I'm not sure about CS:GO too, but would be great. I'm pretty sure we just need an org to take the first step then the others may do the same. But still... Lack of interest, I think.

But that's not how it works currently. Eventually Valve will open that up to other companies who invest a lot into CS, for now it's just make do. I prefer it this way, as the game has natural growth instead of inflated growth from prize pools that are unrealistic from the games actual growth.

ESWC can be more interesting than DH and ESL if they got more bigger prizes. CPL(rip), WCG(rip) and ESWC with all the best teams in every country > ESL with only 16 teams. PS In 1.6 we also have Bulgarian/Balkan quals for ESWC and WCG. Its interesting to see how teams like ex-GamePub/ination and HSBG can compete in forums like this.

fnatic will either win or come second in every event they attend this year. the bigger the price pool, the higher the chances are of fnatic winning it. so they'll take this one.

For some reason I thought this might be a bigger event than ESL , considering G3 was a qualifier in some sense , honestly for this prize pool it's overhyped but still worthwhile.

Nice increase from last year, but still so much less compared to the early days of ESWC. Hopefully prizes continue to increase every year.

Denmark, Sweden, UK, Germany, Brazil...? I expect there will be qualifier for these countries (or at least regions)since it says 24 teams for the male tournament...

No Sweden, Denmark or Na'Vi / Ukraine. I've lost a lot of interest in this one, still gonna watch the matches with the French and iBUYPOWER teams.

Yeah, but there is no competition in this one. VP, LDLC, iBP, Titan top 4 confirmed, and I'm gonna bet VP will win that, especially if on lan. iBP might have a chance online.
