Eight invited for ESWC qualifier

ESEA has announced that it has handed out eight invitations for the European ESWC qualifier.

From October 2-5, ESEA will be hosting the male European ESWC qualifier, which will reward the top three teams with spots at the French event later that month.

The qualifier will be limited to 64 teams, and it is worth noting that teams from countries that have national or regional qualifiers will not be able to sign up.

ESEA will not be providing financial support to the teams who qualify for the ESWC finals, which means that the winning sids will have to gather the funds to able to attend the event in Paris.

The organisers of the qualifier have now revealed which eight teams have been invited for the tournament. These sides will be seeded 1-8 in the bracket. You can find them below:

Europe mousesports Germany ALTERNATE
Sweden Orbit Poland ESC Gaming
United Kingdom The Lone Rangers Sweden Property
Finland 3DMAX Finland Recursive

To sign up for the qualifier, head over here. Registration will be closed on October 1.

I don't believe this to be fair tbh. How about the Iberian Qualifier? or even the CIS qualifier? So if a Portuguese team wins the iberian qualifier, the spanish won't be able to attend this qualifier or the other way around ? The same goes for the CIS teams.

how is it not fair? every team has only ONE chance to qualify - if they have local qualifiers they can't sign-up to this event.

I am talking about qualifiers where there are 2 or more countries involved. Better don't play qualifiers in the CIS area for example, it involves Russia, Ukraine etc and it will be a easy win for HR. Why will the other teams even spend their money there... not letting them join this qualifier is kinda silly. Let's say that NaVi wasn't invited, then it would be down to a HR vs NaVi duel on the qualifiers, and one of them wouldn't get a chance to attend this event, when weaker teams than these 2 might get to the event via this qualifier.

This. On the iberian qualifier, at least one good team will be out of ESWC, and I think that any of the top teams attending the Iberian Qualifier is better than some already "invited". Seems strange at some point.

It all comes down to people/organizations paying for a spot. The ones that pay for it can decide how they want to hold the qualifier.

eswc is owned by the company oxtent which is providing the prize pool if I'm not mistaken. They can make it bigger because they are working together with the pgw who are hosting the event.

This is normal as Norwegians teams have already their own ESWC qualifier at ByLAN eswc.com/en/2014/game/csgo/qualifying/32 And only teams without national qualifier can participate in the ESEA European Qualifier.

Ah too bad, I thought the rule was that one could not participate in two different qualifiers. At least 4 teams with known Norwegians are going to GIGACON instead of ByLAN(The events are at the same time, and in different parts of Norway), so those teams have 0 chance to qualify for ESWC this year. But OKey then.

I don't know all of the teams that are going to ByLAN, except Expert and LC, i think bx3 is going aswell. Gigacon has potential to be a big event with good teams anyway, i just hope they don't use 1-2 years with giving out prizemoneys, because if that happens, it will be realy bad for the norwegian scene. (Sponsors etc.).

I don't follow the scene as closely as I wish I could nowadays.. forgive my ignorance but can someone explain to me why teams from the Finnish & UK scenes have to qualify from an invited pool of European teams from a much, much higher calibre of skill when the Algerian, Bahrain, Chinese, Indian and Japanese scenes get their own qualifier? And didn't the eSports World Cup used to be only 1 team per country? I notice Denmark, France, Sweden and Possibly Ukraine will have 2 available slots - yes I know they have the strongest scenes but I always thought half the prestige was earning the right to represent your country?! Should be a fantastic tournament, just find these decisions a little bizarre

ESWC has national qualifiers. Anyone can candidate to be one. Unfortunalety some coutries don't have a national qualifier. This european tournament is for the teams from coutries without qualifier

Its all about money and buying the rights to hold a qualifier. Earlier there have been teams or players from single player games from the same country. Its all about invites and the external qualifiers. Just remember last year, when it was two french teams in the final. In the first ESWC in 2003, there were also two swedish teams attending and going to the finals, but after that it was only one team per country until 2012 or something like that. So its nothing new. Potentially we could see five swedish teams contending this year.

Epsilon lost against iGamerz in The french qualifier. Titan was already invited and France had 2 ESWC spots through qualifier which the first on went to ldlc as they beat epsilon in the finals. Now the second one is going on and the finals will be -BZ- vs iGamerz (the team who knocked out epsilon)
