LDLC see off 3DMAX

LDLC.com are through to the grand final of DreamHack Stockholm following a 2-0 victory against 3DMAX (16-8 on de_cache and 16-12 on de_dust2)

On de_cache, LDLC confirmed their status as favourites and picked up an early 2-0 lead after easily controlling the A site in the pistol round. 3DMAX responded in the third round and reduced the deficit after buying guns, but then they were caught off-guard as the Frenchmen restored a two-round lead.

In the fourth round, Timo "REFLEX" Rintala came close to winning a 1-on-3 situation, which would have allowed 3DMAX to gain some momentum, but he lost it due to not having enough time to defuse the bomb.

LDLC were now in the driving seat and they went on to take the score to 8-2, at which point a P90 double from Taneli "disturbed" Veikkola opened things up for 3DMAX and inspired the Finnish team to close the gap to 7-8, with Mikko "xartE" Välimaa getting some very important kills in the last two rounds.

Now playing on the highly-favoured CT side, LDLC almost spurned a 4-on-3 situation in the pistol round as they allowed 3DMAX to plant the bomb in B, but Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt and Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer saved the day and kept their team in the lead.In gun play, LDLC were simply unstoppable, conceding just one round as they walked away with a 16-8 victory.

Happy turned in a great performance on dust2

Next up was de_dust2, where 3DMAX, who started off on the Terrorist side, came out very aggressively and wrought havoc in B site, with Joona "natu" Leppänen picking up three kills. The Finns were then caught off-guard by Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey's tripe scout kill in the eco round, which was followed up by Happy's double in B.

LDLC won the next two rounds to make it 3-1 for them, but the French side were outplayed by their opponents in A in the following two rounds. 3DMAX eventually turned the score around and picked up a 5-4 lead, at which point LDLC started playing a very aggressive CT style, which allowed them to take a 9-6 lead into the second half.

In the second half, 3DMAX came out the brighter and won the pistol round following some confrontations in short, but once again they lost the follow-up round to LDLC's ecoing players.

The Frenchmen gained control of the match and won the next five rounds, and it was only at this point that 3DMAX started to react. The Finnish team managed to win five consecutive rounds to bring the game to 15-12, but it was too little, too late, as LDLC secured a 16-12 victory that sees them progress to the grand final, where they will take on the winner of the match between fnatic and Titan.

Yeah, but 3DMAX didn't do bad at all. Top15 before, I'd say, now they're def closing in on top10.

There were a lot of good teams missing in this tournament though... I'd like to see them playing against NaVi, VP, C9 etc. before jumping to the rankings.

Closing in on != they are. It is too early to say they're in top10, they need to get more results in bigger LAN events first. But they aren't that far.

they are probably at the level of teams like LC and OG, who can upset teams, but they are not in the top 10. Great potential though..

3D max played surprisingly well, too bad they lost both pistol in cache and 2 "anti ecos" in d2.

3D max looked so far off the mark for the part year... Maybe some sort of a watershed moment but showing hard work and getting the teamwork slick takes you forward. Seeing them yesterday was a highlight in recent cs tourneys.. good job guys keep it up and i look forward to seeing them take the next step;)

3D played surprisingly well, but they also made a shit ton of mistakes that prevented them from going even further. Not even just the eco rounds. I think they should watch their own demos, which would help them see why they won certain rounds and lost others. Still, good showing, and a good game from both teams. Keep the lineup together and keep practicing and next time around show us even more.

I'm sure 3DMAX can expect more invites to LAN tournaments after such a good performance. After the first game you could tell that the win against Dignitas wasn't a fluke. Didn't see the second map but after seeing the score I am definitely watch it. Hopefully now Natu will get a lot more viewers on his stream cause he is a really cool guy as well.
