MLG CEO drops CS:GO hint

Major League Gaming (MLG) founder and CEO Sundance DiGiovanni has dropped a major hint that CS:GO could be included in the 2015 season.

Back in 2012, MLG announced the creation of a $9,000 CS:GO ladder to test the water, but the North American organisation have yet to announce plans for a LAN event featuring Valve's FPS title.

That may be about to change, however, after MLG CEO Sundance DiGiovanni took to Twitter last night to suggest that big news are on the way for both CS:GO and Dota 2 fans.

DotA 2 fans will most likely be happy. CSGO fans will most likely be surprised then happy. I can't help but be happy.

Dota 2 was featured in MLG's 2013 Fall Championship, so the fact that it could return to the Pro Circuit comes with little surprise.

In June, MLG held the first championship event for the 2014 Season, with Call of Duty: Ghosts, Starcraft 2, Super Smash Bros, Injustice: Gods Among Us and Killer Instinct being the games that were played at the event which was held in Anaheim.

i played cod personally, and there's a reason im playing cs again, it's more random than csgo (if thats possible) everyone has aim assist and uses similar equipment, so usually the best minds in that game are what wins p.s. cod black ops 2 was fun to watch, ghosts is just fuckin garbage all around, but when there was hardpoint, and ctf it could be entertaining

I honestly can't disagree with this guy here. I really haven't seen MLG host anything relating to PC, I'm not saying they don't. I do want to say that if they try to move the CS scene to xbox, like the fanboy they are, we all should start a riot. I don't know why valve made a Ps3, xbox version of CSGO when CS has been and always been a PC only game. But the point I'm trying to get is let see all the rumors about MLG is true or not. That's not a valid argument even! Just because it happened, doesn't mean it was good... If we wouldn't question "why" something happens and just agreed that it happens "for a reason" then we'd be pretty fucked... MLG taking over GotFrag was horrible, and not the greater good in any sense. They killed the only NA eSports informative website at the time, not continuing any sort of coverage on their own. This crippled the NA scene. Sorry, I'm not going to just sit on my ass and say, it happened for a reason, let's just agree that means it was good that it happened...

I do and its OK except for the fact that Valve thought aim acceleration was a good idea. No they don't. You never heard of CoD Champ or UMG? There are many tournaments outside of MLG. The official tournament for CoD puts out a million dollars yearly. CoD in NA has more LANs and more tournaments than CS will ever get for years to come.

You are clueless - I've been in the CoD scene for 4+ years. CoD Champs is ran by the makers of the game, so that doesnt matter. UMG once was independent of MLG, they streamed their LAN on Twitch which was later taken down because they had no rights to stream CoD (Activision gave MLG exclusive rights to CoD tournaments streaming). Now that UMG is streaming on MLG.TV, there are no problems. tl;dr MLG got a competitors stream shut down on Twitch. No more problems due to them streaming on MLGtv.

I doubt MLG even has the money to buy some exclusive rights to streaming CS. Unless MLG is providing huge prize pots for each event no team in NA would be able to afford to send a team to a LAN across America every other month. Also c9 is the only team that gets a salary. Unless Denial, iBP, Netcode, and Elevate start paying their players and sending them around the country on a normal basis there is no one that can take advantage of a MLG circuit. ESEA is the only LAN that has "real teams" that attend. SoCal Revival was full of mix teams or lower skill teams with one or two invite teams thrown into the mix. The LAN in philly was the same but with no invite teams, just invite players in mix teams. So who benefits from this? Right now it looks like only c9 can afford this. Perhaps iBP if they raise their marketing budget.
