Planetkey disqualified from fb Masters

fragbite has announced that Planetkey Dynamics have been disqualified from its Master season following "unprofessional behaviour".

The German team had been drawn in Group B, together with dignitas, Na`Vi and mousesports, and were due to tackle the Danish side in the first round of the double-elimination bracket.

However, this morning Anil "cLy" Gülec announced via Facebook that his team had only two eligible players because of personal commitments and that they would not be able to postpone the match.

Planetkey Dynamics only had two players eligible

Asked by fragbite if they would like to play with stand-ins, Planetkey Dynamics declined to use that option, which resulted in the team's disqualification from the tournament.

"For the first time in Fragbite Masters history we have to disqualify a team from our tournament," a fragbite statement read.

"The reasoning behind the decision? Unprofessional behavior displayed by the team in question. Today we were made aware from a Facebook fan page that the team will not be able to play in our tournament. We gave PlanetKey the chance to use stand ins during their first match, which clearly, has not been appreciated.

"PlanetKey doesn’t seem to respect that there are a lot of hard working people involved in the making of this tournament, both in the participating teams and in the production crew, who both put in a lot of hours to make this tournament happen in an effort to provide entertainment and joy to the Counter-Strike-community.

"To all the fans who were looking forward to there matches, and the people who were affected by this situation: We are very sorry. PlanetKey have been disqualified from this tournament and the players will not be available to participate in the upcoming season. We do not look kindly on this kind of behavior. "

Group B will kick off at 19:15 with the match between mousesports and Natus Vincere, with the winner due to face dignitas in the Upper final.

"PlanetKey doesn’t seem to respect that there are a lot of hard working people involved in the making of this tournament" It's like PlanetKey can say that Fragbite doesn't seem to respect that people have real life commitments, and rescheduling of a match could've been a possibility - this isn't soccer where you have 20 guys on one team. Subs work different in CS.

They could have just said "ok you get deff-loss for that game". Forcing them to play with 3 standins is basically saying that. Now they DQ them , I dnno what fragbite wants to gain from that. Of course we dont know WHEN PkD tried to reschedule or how much effort was put in. But fragbite didnt put much effort in it either... "Go +3 standins?" - "no man" - "ok omg DQ'ed, be ashamed of ur work ethics!"

"Today we were made aware..." So we do know how much effort PlanetKey made and when fragbite was made aware of it. Everyone knows that most tournaments have a 24 or 48 hour rule. Now Fragbite is putting alot into this tournament, admins, shoutcasters and of course money. So its not weird that FM is trying to force a game, nice they were gonna show it to gain some advertisement.

The thing is, we act like we are a real sports and we want to be big. But the truth is, we are not there yet. You cant expect 5 individuals with their own lifes etc to eat, breathe and BE CS:GO 24/7. Much more annoying for me is when games start late, or I have to watch a fcking game where teams play with 3 standins. I rather have a game rescheduled and see both teams with full roster, than have a rofl-stomp cuz 1 team had to use 3 standins. But maybe thats just me.

No, you can not. You can however expect professional players to play the matches they are scheduled to play and if they can not, then notice the organizers in time. In time does not mean through a facebook message the same day the match is set to be played. That's simply unprofessional.

I dont think PkD are professionals (professional = gets paid a certain amount of cash) Yes it was a dumb move, but I think fragbite was taking the easier approach for them here.

there's a difference between being a professional and demonstrating professional behavior. the latter is not hard to do and if they want to act like kids they deserve to be DQ'd from mature tournaments.

If they wanna participate in the big tournaments they have to make those sacrifizes - being a top player demands it. When I play a low level football match I always show up one hour before, because that is responsible. If we are late we automatically loose the match (used to be like this in CS aswell). I have to agree with games starting late, ddos and all the other problems we have. Its a shame, but lets keep the focus on this incident and not all the general problems there is with CS:GO and the mentality that coming late is all right. And here it all comes down to being a responsible person who can manage his own time and plan ahead.

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. But you also have to remember that Counter Strike is trying to become more professional - and as such, professional teams in invite tournaments should let this take priority (Especially considering this is some of their jobs).

No doubt, I was going to edit this into the post but ended up not doing so. I guess what I'm trying to say is that they probably could've found a middle ground, instead they went on about how they don't respect their hard working people, and straight up dqed them.

I read that today was some kind of Muslim event/holiday so it's fair that cLy isn't there, but if you're invited to a league and given a set schedule weeks in advance - you have no excuse for not being there.

Yet cLy is the only Muslim in the team and he is at home with his family. He wrote 2 of his other mates were not there either tho :D But yea, DQ doesn't make that much sense. Although it sucks for the Fragbite admins to have to read on cLy his facebook that they won't show up.

even if they are muslins it doesn't change the fact that Fragbite admins found out via Facebook message on the same day of the games that they would not be playing.. It's pure disrespect, they should've talked earlier and directly to the people in charge of the tournament instead of going with "i don't really care" attitude

The middle ground would have been to have played with standins. You're not going to reschedule a whole tournament because of one team that "can't make it".
2014-10-04 18:29

From what I heard, this match WAS already rescheduled. In that case, really its kind of PkDs fault for letting it be rescheduled to a date where they cannot participate. In addition to that, PkD also did not contact the Fragbite admins. From what I know, the admins heard about the whole thing through the Facebook post AND the whole rescheduling happened far too late. Its sad, but I understand Fragbites decision.

I definitely understand and I of course getting disqualified is harsh, but unfortunately, it has to be done if a team is not able to organize itself properly, out of respect for everyone else involved. Keep in mind that casters, other players, producers, etc. dont have an unlimited supply of time.

How can it be harsh. The team have had atleast one week to notify that they were not going to be able to play today and FM had to learn it from a facebook fanpage?! Its unprofessional and that totally deserves a disqualification.

Dude, that was what I wrote. I understand why fragbite disqualified them, even if a disqualification is still pretty harsh! As some others already said, theoretically a defwin would have been enough, but disqualifying them definitely will send out a message to those teams that tend to be a bit unorganized!

Stop pls dude. Do you know what reschedule means? Tournament schedule in an online league where people do not travel and play from their home can be rescheduled, provided all parties agree - don't you think? They are professional teams, hence they should've found a common ground between the organisation and tournament officials. Plus, it's not like he just went on to chill on the beach with his homies - I guess religion is important to him, and in some sports religious players celebrate holidays without participating in sports on that day.

Yeah if they didn't contact FB about it, then fair play on them like I said. If they did know about it earlier, then it's a shitty situation - I somehow struggle to believe that PKey would simply "forget" about the match and on the day of realize they don't have three people. If they did, however, then the dq is justifiable.

Youre right that the chance of 5 players forgetting a match is slim to none, but forgetting to communicate out (to fb) that they were not gonna be able to attend is very likely. Its a common problem in organisations, thinking that someone else does the job.

2 days of group stage with 3 bo3 and 2 bo1 matches. Its not easy to reschedule matches that took too much hours to play. And Do u know ,in October and November,so many tournament (on-offline) to be held ? Beside DHW qualifier, most important tournament. Reschedule matches will affect so much : Streamers, other teams schedule,play-off schedule,Lan final schedule... They just have 10days to arrange Groupstage with 2 days per group,no time to waste :)

Well, I'm pretty sure that people organizing the tournament have "real life commitments" as well :D . I don't know what's the level of effort to fragbite masters, but probably that includes people going to some place on specific time to work I guess (like in faceit) - so it kinda destroys their plans (and also creates more mess if it gets rescheduled). Now they have less matches, less time on the stream, less viewers - they get less money maybe? from ads etc. So there is nothing wrong with the DQ. Fragbite is just being strict :P .

Of course they do, but from the statement it seems like they didn't take any effort to reschedule the match to let them play with their players.

Maybe they couldn't move the match to other date :P . But then they could also just give a defwin, not whole dq. Well, revenge for randomly not showing up is real XD. And btw. they didn't have much chances to get out of the group anyway :D .

That's what I said earlier - if they made no effort to communicate with FB beforehand, then obviously the dq is justifiable.

"The reasoning behind the decision? Unprofessional behavior displayed by the team in question. Today we were made aware from a Facebook fan page that the team will not be able to play in our tournament. We gave PlanetKey the chance to use stand ins during their first match, which clearly, has not been appreciated." 1. The schedule was known beforehand, so they could've easily contacted fb crew earlier. 2. The organisers found out that Cheatkey Noobnamics won't play by raading the FACEBOOK FANPAGE, so PD didn't even try to elaborate the situation.

#121 And like I said in #94, I don't believe none of the 5 players didn't know they would't be able to play the match, up until the very same day. It sounded sketchy from the get-go.

That's what I meant actually. The organisers found out that PD won't play only due to reading the Facebook FanPage and contacting them after that. It's fucking ridiculous and I think that it's good that PD got dq'd. I hope Cheatkey Noobnamics won't ever get a chance to play in a decent tournament. Aside from the cLy being a confirmed cheater, they're now showing their level of retardness.

They tried to reschedule it since they knew about the groups apparently, so I wouldn't put all the blame on them. Read #121, it's just weird the way this is done and the statement is written. If they (organizers) knew about this issue since a week why DQ them straight up like that?

It's like not going to work for real life commitments. When you're a professional players (and earning money for that), you're committed to play when you have to and represents your sponsors and orgs who contribute to these tournament organisations. So yeah it's unprofessional. The disqualification is justified in any ways.

Say a member of your family dies, you most likely will not play the match. It doesn't matter what happened, the question is whether or not PKey tried to find a middle ground earlier - if they did not, and indeed only wrote it today on their facebook page, then I agree they should be somehow punished. I've already wrote that earlier, so maybe try to read before you call somebody an idiot. Also, #121

I'm happy to see some professional standards enforced by a tournament. It's sad for Planetkey but CS is too big to cope with unprincipled "pros". There are many other teams who would be more professional about their planning and can perform just as well if not better than Planetkey. MORE OF THIS PLEASE!

They knew the schedule after they qualified, they could contact the admins beforehand. Instead of doing this, they only posted some shit on their Facebook Fanpage, showing complete disrespect to organisers, who donated a lot of time & money into this tournament. You should understand what 'professionalism' means & if you're old enough, you will understand why you can't simply leave your actual job.

Just to make this clear. Your refference - "so on xmas u will stay playing video games instead of spending ur time with ur family / friends ?" is bullshit, because 'playing video games' is their actual JOB, they're getting paid for it. When you leave your work, simply because you decided to stay with your family, then you will most likely get fired. So in my pov, fb crew was right to dq the team.

So getting DQ'ed wasn't enough? Retarded decision.Today is a big holiday in all muslim countries and i appreciate cly spending this time with his family. Playing with 3 stand-ins doesn't really make any sense, and they choose to forfeit instead. What is with disqualifying them from tourney? Again, bad decision by fragbite.

"PlanetKey doesn’t seem to respect that there are a lot of hard working people involved in the making of this tournament" "It's like PlanetKey can say that Fragbite doesn't seem to respect that people have real life commitments, and rescheduling of a match could've been a possibility - this isn't soccer where you have 20 guys on one team. Subs work different in CS." What do you call real life? Playing in a cs tourney for money would be considered part of their life. They can say whatever they want but they are still disqualified. So when I was playing high school basketball and it was my birthday on the same day as one of our games I should have just not played and told the coach I have to deal with real life? He would have kicked me off the team instantly. I also would not even think of doing that because I loved playing basketball and it was real to me.

Use the reply option please, that way I know you are replying to me without copying what I wrote. It's on the to left by my post. Comparing your birthday to a mass religious holiday, yeah. Of course you would've been kicked, that's not what I was trying to say though. Read the replies above - from the statement it looks like they made no effort to reschedule the match so that they could play. Just offered them a 3 stand-ins option, and when they said no DQed them. It's a double edged sword.

But you don't know if the reason of their absence is the religious holiday, right? (or did I miss some info?) They're probably full-time players, so matches are like work for them ;p . And you have to work no matter what :D.

Not write a fb message the day of the tourney and say, naaah sorry im guna go out and drink with ma friends instead cyaaaaaaa! You have to understand that many people worked to schedule the matches and organizing the tournament, hell fragbite started out as a forum in Sweden and is now a medium big sponsor in cs with tourneys.. You can expect that everyone else will be planning their shit according to muslim holidays..

just to make some things clear here. we have tried to reshedule the match since the first day the groups have been released. it was not possible to find any solution by the admins within one week and they came with the suggestion to either play with stand ins or forfeit the match. because one of us has to work today and two of us are with their families, we decided to forfeit the dignitas match. cly might have forgotten about telling fragbite again before he published it on facebook. anyway we said sorry afterwards and we tried another time to find a solution for everything. now i just see a statement on hltv where our whole team is blamed for being unprofessional and disrespectful. for me it just looks like a big personal problem of an admin towards cly... we are still open to find a solution if fragbite is aswell

They did what they had to do, no matter the form. What you have to do now is reflect on the professionalism of the team. I hope you come back strong and focused on the future, as always ;-)

Very unfortunate for you but being with your family doesn't really seem like an acceptable reason to skip out on scheduled tournament matches with a surrounding production without any consequences.

You think everyone single other player in the tourney doesn't spend time with their family? Why are you so spoiled and selfish that makes you think you're so special? It's a job. Job = profession. You = unprofessional. Grow up.

In the real world people adjust their personal schedule for important work related events. Your team should have taken this opportunity to play in a serious tournament more professional. Rescheduling practice is fine but you don't ask organizers of an event like this to reschedule unless it's an emergency IMO

As I know, only Cly is Muslim in that team. So its kinda "justified" why he will not play, but what is with others 2 ? So, they just decided to make some other plans, and to fck fragbite. Next time, you have schedule, and organize yourselfs.

What the fuck did you expect them to do, change the tournament schedule again and again so the time would be absolutely optimal for every special little snowflake? You sign up for tournaments, you play the fucking matches. It's not that complicated. Good job Fragbite, if CS wants to be taken seriously we need to start laying down the law on people who show up for games when they feel like it if at all. It's fucking bullshit how games always start two hours late because some dickhead couldn't be assed to be in front of a computer on time.
