dignitas to miss ESEA S17 Finals

Virtus.pro will be replacing dignitas at ESEA Invite Season 17 Global Finals in December, HLTV.org has learned.

dignitas finished the regular season in second place with a 11-5 record, having lost twice against both fnatic and Virtus.pro, and once against Natus Vincere.

The Danes' Andreas "⁠Xyp9x⁠" Højsleth however confirmed yesterday via Twitter that his side will not, once again, be traveling to Dallas for the Global Finals despite qualifying:

In fifth place as the first backup team finished Virtus.pro, whom HLTV.org have been able to confirm will be replacing dignitas at the Season 17 Finals.

We reached out to Virtus.pro's manager Christian Lenz, who gave us the following short statement to confirm their plans to travel to Dallas once again:

"After failing to qualify for ESEA finals, we got the chance to replace dignitas. There is nothing to think about, we are going to Dallas again!," Virtus.pro's manager Christian Lenz said to HLTV.org.

With regular season over in both Europe and North America, and dignitas now having been replaced, the following eight teams are expected to attend the Finals:

Cloud9	iBUYPOWER	Denial	eLevate
fnatic	Titan	Virtus.pro	mousesports

So far fnatic and Virtus.pro are confirmed for Europe. ESEA Invite Season 17 Global Finals will take place, after rescheduling, on December 5-7 in Dallas, TX.

dignitas has one of the youngest rosters so yeah, it probably is to do with school/work. And they didn't attend when they were under the CPH Wolves org either, so I don't think sponsorship is a problem.

Work. And its mainly me whois to blame, again :( During my 6months internship(part of a 3.5 years education) I have to take alot of days off for all events. Going to Dallas would cost me way to many days and the boys dont feel like going with a standin. We have 0 sponsorship issues as we could have gone with standins :D

Dignitas is the nicest team & they don't forget work & school. I hope they will be able to finish school & focus on playing after. They have so many talented players, I hope they will win a major in the future. They are consistent but they have to step a little bit up to win the next 1.

i dont see the point in being a team if you are not going to go to these events. surely thats the point? fuck work and school for a few days, how many people in the world get the opportunity to go to USA and play LAN as a pro cs player? hardly any. dignitas should be making the most of these opportunities when they have them, nothing gold can stay.

Esea is 20k for first place and 47k overall prize pool - more than g3, dhs, cph games, and sltv and almost the same as faceit and eswc (50k each).

It probably costs around 5-10K USD just to attend (flights, hotel, food etc). Everything but a win would probably be a net loss, and a win is not that much either.

VP has been my favorite team for many years now (including 1.6) . I had faith in them when they played poorly at the beginning of GO and wasnt surprised when they won their first big events. They are the real champions of counter-strike in my eyes. VP FOR PREZ KURWA KURWA
