CPH Wolves qualify for ESWC

Copenhagen Wolves will be the second Danish team to represent their country at ESWC 2014 thanks to winning the qualifier held this weekend at NPF #15. They defeated ALL IN in the final 2-1 (13-16 on de_inferno, 16-3 on de_cache and 16-4 on de_dust2.

A local Danish LAN tournament NPF #15 played host to the country's ESWC 2014 qualifier with the trip to Paris, France up for grabs. Nearly 100 teams signed up and took part in the group stage on Friday evening, after which the tournament moved into a double elimination playoff bracket on day two.

The old Western Wolves trio back together in CPH Wolves

The main favorites were myXMG and the revamped CPH Wolves lineup, along with Peter "Inzta" Kragelund's ALL IN. They all looked solid until the upper semi-finals, where lesser known eXeS took out myXMG 2-1 (13-16 on de_overpass, 16-6 on de_inferno, 16-12 on de_dust2) with some great teamplay and strong AWPing by Max "neon" Mazur. myXMG then went on to lose to ALL IN in the lower bracket final and finished 4th.

eXeS' Cinderella story also ended there, as they lost to CPH Wolves in the upper final 0-2 (7-16 on de_inferno, 11-16 on de_nuke) and then a nail-biter to ALL IN in the consolidation final 17-19 on de_inferno.

With only the grand final left for Sunday, CPH Wolves took on ALL IN in a best-of-three series with no map advantage.

Inzta created early problems for the young Wolves, leading the charge on de_inferno T-side to a 12-3 advantage. Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander managed to wake his team up in the second half and they came very close to a big comeback, but saw it denied at the very end to go down 13-16.

After moving on to map two, de_cache, CPH Wolves came out much stronger, and with Nichlas "Nille" Busk topping the scoreboard they dominated the CT side 12-3, quickly closing the map out 16-3 right after.

The decider de_dust2 started out evenly, but after an early 3-3 draw CPH Wolves started dominating once again on the CT side, taking the half 11-4 while this time Jacob "Pimp" Winneche did the most damage. The second half pistol round sealed the deal and the five teenagers in Wolves came out winners 16-4, thus securing the ESWC 2014 spot.

seems good, he was arguably top 5 in Denmark last year, I hope he still has that form and challenges EU soon.

It's ridiculous... They choose to publish the prizes 24 hours before the event. People were expecting a lot more since its Denmarks biggest LAN event and they just get shit :D

It might be Denmarks Biggest event in form of attendents... But its never been competetive focused, so expecting more cause alot of People aint the thing to do.

Ofc the event should have had better prices... Not something close to CPH Games or anything, but like 25k danish kroner, and everything would have been fine. And no, that would not be a problem to find.

When they hold the ESWC qualification it's not a casual event anymore. It then becomes a competetive lan, that attracts the best danish teams all around Denmark. They obviously knew they would attract the danish elite with the ESWC spot, so they waited to publish the prizes, so the teams were forced to buy tickets, in belief that some nice prizes would published since its now a competetive event. And they've literally spent 0$ on prizes. Many of the teams wouldnt have attended if they knew the prizes thats for sure.

As iv'e said to other people. Gaming.DK And NPF is too blame. GDK Shouldnt have held the Tournament there, and NPF shouldn't have accepted, they arent geared to be so serious eSport Wise. And honestly, most people want to go to ESWC, so despite.. i think they would go.

This is the lineup for ESWC only as the tickets is already booked. Sadly we will change lineup after eswc except if Valve is going to help Nille out.

Well, if the tournament organizers are willing to overlook his VAC ban based on his LAN play, he can just create another steam account, can't he?
