ALSEN caught losing on purpose

Polish team ALSEN were caught in the act of betting on their opponents in a match they eventually lost in ESL Pro Series Poland 9.

Many rumors circulated our site and other CS forums today suggesting that ALSEN will "throw" their EPS Poland Season 9 match against eliminacja by betting on their opponents at csgolounge.com, where the odds were 81%-19% in their favor (or 4.16 value for 1 invested on eliminacja).

Several of them claimed they had reliable sources, and surely enough after ALSEN ended up losing 10-16, csgolounge.com checked their players' bet records and found that the rumors were in fact true.

DiAMon and two of his teammates bet on their opponents today

Specifically, they provided proof to HLTV.org that players Michał "bCk" Lis and Jakub "kub" Pamuła bet on eliminacja from their own Steam accounts, and that team's captain Damian "DiAMon" Żarski did the same from several confirmed alternate accounts, despite placing a smaller bet on his team from his main account.

Following are links to screenshots made by csgolounge showing the link between players' accounts, their bets and winnings:

Damian "DiAMon" Żarski (Steam profile)
- alternate accounts used on csgolounge
- bet from 1st alternate account with over $600 worth of winnings
bet from 2nd alternate account
bet from 3rd alternate account with over $850 worth of wininngs, also showing a previous bet against ALSEN
- bet from 4th alternate account

Michał "bCk" Lis (Steam profile)
- bet from main account with over $300 worth of winnings

Jakub "kub" Pamuła (Steam profile)
- bet from main account with over $550 worth of winnings

This is all the evidence collected so far, and the total worth of the players' winnings exceeds $2,000.

It's worth noting that nothing has been found to implicate the other two ALSEN players from this match - Michał "michi" Majkowski and Mateusz "matty" Kołodziejczyk - or their 6th member Rafał "sany" Pietrzak.

However, there is proof that players from other teams in EPS Poland knew about the situation and didn't report it to the admins, but instead used it to their advantage to bet. Some of them are ESC's Karol "rallen" Rodowicz who put the maximum value and won over $1,000 worth of items, his teammate Mikołaj "mouz" Karolewski with this bet and Norbert "Norbiak" Bagiński from AMNESIA with another max bet from an alternate account.

csgolounge wanted to point out that "tournament admins and organizers, and [csgolounge] site admins did and will do everything to stop stuff like this".

EPS Poland organizers have not yet commented on the situation officially and are expected to do so tomorrow.

VP was different, they didnt bet and throw, they played the match before that and it was casted later from a replay. SO they just knew they already lost. And bet on LDLC instead.

The only reason these guys were caught was because they were stupid enough to bet from their own accounts, or accounts that could be traced back to their main accounts (idiots). To be caught in such spectacular fashion, these Polish morons must be utterly braindead. Anyone with a half-functioning brain will be able to do the same, but no-one will ever know, it's extremely simple. Any amateur team who no-one really knows, in a match that gives a fuck about, can throw games with minimal hassle. Pro teams can do the same, albeit being slightly more difficult accompanied with greater risk. If fixing occurs in worldwide, professional sport, CSGO is a fucking walk in the park. Anyone who thinks this isn't happening frequently is deluded.

+1 the proof is in the pudding: youtu.be/hTEFo9uQX2g?t=27m17s (audio is not synced) But basically Nip spot pasha's scout, YET they continue to run through mid doors and lose the anti-eco round - which shifts the economy and the map towards VP's favour (winning that round would of gave nip a 12-6 lead) Losing a round by stupid mistakes happens all the time. But you'd expect a team like Nip to comfortably close out a match after winning the T-pistol round @ 10-6 on dust2: CSGO Legends Series map5 Whether you like it or not, the conspiracy is real: teams will throw. Just don't go crying to me if you lose teh moneh. #sickOfSeeingTopTierTeamsThrowMatches #BelieveTheConspiracy twitter.com/LDNConspiracy

They just took advantage of the situation, they didn't lose on purpose. Not saying it was right since they basically took skins from their supporters but it's not the equivelant to throwing.

How do they know these accounts are alt accounts of other players? There is no way to confirm this. btw. So what. They could bet like 2000$ on real money bet sides and win that way like 10k $ each of them. They must be totally retarded to get busted on shitty skins from MAIN accounts :D It s so easy to do it in untraceable way: 1. Bet from your family and freinds accounts on real money bet sides. 2. For skins use only your family and friends accounts or good alts with tranfers via your firends accounts and with logins by using proxy. 3. Ofc dont do this from your PC but just telling others to do this from their pcs or use other pcs and other ips for your family accounts

only national banks when nationial powers force them. usually a foreign bank account is enough to hide your money no way russian betting sites have power to check and analyze millions of skins transfers on steam. 1. valve ll not give russians accets to that data cause they dont give a fuck and valve is not stupid and valve is american 2. betting sides dont give a fuck too. i bet cslounge made a drama only because russians hate poles and vice versa since forever. Even so it s nothing wrong when your friends or family bet against you. That s the point of betting.

Not really. I could have a laptop, alternate steam account and create a moniker and do betting on a public wifi at a starbucks or some shit. I wouldn't be surprised if professionals in top10 teams do this. You could make $1,000's a week. I mean look how inconsistent NiP is now. People still bet their skins on them regardless of how often they lose matches. They used to be unstoppable in CSGO and ever since CSGOLOUNGE came out they went to shit.

Just compare the ips they placed their bets from with other users, if you have a match it'S likely an alt account, and if several make max bets that's too much of a coincidence

You look at how often they bet... Who they bet on and how much. If the accounts only bet on alsen matches and at high rates then it's clear it's insidet shit... Then you can request for steam to track items to final location and get your hard proof that way.

why would u give those people such a good example of what they could have done, now real money betting sites have to watch out for invaders that will do what you've just described here... Im actually not going to be surprised if some players have already done that, the once that new the outcome of the match.... mmm....

There are ads of real money betting sites in every face it match at least a few every hour so everyone is aware of that. I say it to not lose the big picture and not be happy because a few stupid kids got busted on skins bets.

It's actually not that difficult to trace and then correlate data between different accounts. I'd say there are three things that would cause an account to be flagged as a suspect of insider information: - You bet on a team which is an underdog and they win. - You make an anomalous bet (Example: $240 bet on a 20% odds team) - Your prior bets have been mid size bets on "safe" teams. This is similar to how people become more suspicious of cheating if a player only has a few hours of CS:GO played, and is dominating the game. It's also similar to how poker sites flag suspects of someone who is playing/talking with multiple players at the same table. It's just behavior analysis and statistics. Once you have a suspect, you can do more extensive work to figure out who the person is who made the bet. The simple stuff being to correlate browser sessions, IP numbers and/or accounts. Or the more difficult and invasive, where you can trace the items or money that is being transfered, or finding out who the person that made the bet is and if you can correlate that individual with someone close to the team. I'd say that it's difficult to get away with something like this unnoticed, unless the betting site doesn't care, or if you do very small bets on fixed matches and in general make a lot of bets. In other words; its not really worth it.

Well, alsen is actually pretty bad, if you look at international level, best teams etc. Playing against teams like vp ldlc navi and others they could easily get owned even 16-0. But on polish level they're surely not the worst, and eliminacja is struggling to win any match... I think it's more a mix fun team, and alsen is more "proffesional". If not that throw, eliminacja could probably end this season with 0 wins, that's why the odds were so much favouring alsen.

They're professionals, and they obviously knew that they acted immorally by betting on their own match that only they, their opponents and maybe some admins knew the outcome of, practically stealing from everyone else. It doesn't matter if CSGO Lounge was to blame as well, VP should know better.

Embarrassing to the CS scene. All players that bet on this game with inside information should be banned from all future tournaments. Might seem harsh, but we NEED to make sure players are terrified of betting against themselves.

+100500 simply because im a hardheaded CS lover but I must agree bans, maybe not permanent, but for a specific period of time or something like that, has to be implemented with no exceptions and if a player or his/her management or a family member or what have you gets caught betting against themselves...and im sure there's no need for an explanation why such strict actions should apply, especially now, when more ppl are joining the community, more events are happening and whats most importantly this is not the first time it happens and a few months back if im not mistaken VP's / LDLC's two or whatever players were officially caught and there was an official thread on hltv org as well ---> hltv.org/news/12476-csgolounge-on-bettin.. i was hoping ppl would learn their lesson as that thread stated that the csgolounge will be applying actions against those teams/players/organizations involved in such ashame...., but players keep doing it (not surprised, but anyway), so a good lesson for whoever broke that rule and bet on the opposite team should be implied and if its a ban and his team has to take a vacation for a year then be it, sorry, come back and dont u ever bet on the opposite team again. You can definately do it as all of us when you're not playing and dont know whats going to happen, but doing the stuff screwing thousands of ppl watching the matches and then realising you lost cause of skins is not acceptable... As per for myself I love watching CS as is since probably early 2000s (no streams back then, but its not the point) and it just feels awkward when you're cheering for a team you live the match and maybe express, share some feelings with the team, but then find out they lost on purpose just feels awkward, cant expain, liek it doesnt touch u, u just dont feel anything its like WTF hahah :) anyway... Im glad thousands of ppl will read this article and those caught players will do the same and hope their faecs become red behind their screens there :) but its ok, life goes on... no stress <3

Isnt that making too much drama putting names of other players who did bet on ALSEN's opponents? Even I, as I am playing in ESC bet on eliminacja cause of pretty good value and map which was dust2, not high, cause nothing is 100% sure, never. Its not a crime to do yolobet like that imgur.com/tg4Qeo6 or 240$ when you have items to throw just like nothing. Anyway it was a big mistake to bet from main accounts - things like that always go wrong.

Hell no its not, what the fuck is wrong with you and your sportsmanship? "Anyway it was a big mistake to bet from main accounts" - are you fucking kidding me ? :D This is all about some of your players (and i bet even yourself) didnt come clean with the admins to begin with, i dont care if they throw the game, but it shouldnt be costfull to others in a betting site - not to speak about esportsventure who also had the bet up. This is a disgrace to CSGO and all of you who are involved in this, really should start looking for another hobby - cause it seems like your desperate to win money because your too shit to win any money in the game yourself. I lost all respect i had for you and your team just with that comment you wrote, and i will surely let Rolf know about this aswell. good day loser

The past 4 months, i think i earned just in EPS, what you earned in your entire "career", but hey, you also get salary in ESC like i did right? fucktard Stop playing stupid, you can see, from multiple posts that your players all bet on this match, including rallen mouz his gf and even you - sure maybe your manager knows about it, but i will surely let Rolf know this myself - not only did his players act in a betting scandal, but they as a top team in EPS poland didnt report this to ESL? How do you think sponsors will look on this situation? I know your very new to joining a big organisation etc, but please, use ur fucking brain and stop coming with most STUPID statements ive ever read . Yet again, what people say about me? that i say my opinion ? why the fuck should i wait for a statement? i can look into the evidence provided, i can look at your steam accounts - thats it. "we are not so stupid to risk that big organisation to some shit" - just with your statements before, it said EVERYTHING about you :) And yes i also lost skins on this, hence why i do a little about it, and since ESC is my old home and the organisation i care most about, i cant let little fuckers like u ruining that name :)

Even the top pros don't make much money from cs...I guess it's too hard for many of those guys to resist the temptation to make some money since they are mostly young and without incomes

so the only thing I wanted to know and which is not supplied is: will there be any punishment and what about us that lost value on matchfixing? is it our responsibility to know that aswell? I rate this as the same at cheating in csgo: I believe a VAC/ tournament ban is in order.

So they let them keep the items? Alsen has also lost previously 3 matches on csgl, being highly favored in each of those matches. Just saying maybe admins should check those as well. Would be interesting to know if those were just coincidence or did they throw them as well. Also if these people were banned from csgl, why hasn't neo, pasha, taz been banned as well?

ESL can not DQ them. There are rules and in polish law if the offense took place before and if ESL will change rules about bets they can do nothing. There are no words about bets in EPS POLAND CSGO rules.

Nope those skins are gone. It's a good lesson learned to not bet overdog on games like these. I made quite a killing a couple months ago betting against DAT every time they had 80%+ overdog. No proof if they were throwing, but I came out big like 3x in a row. Only the top tier1 teams have no incentive to throw. You always gotta consider both throwing and ddos when making your calculations. It's just a part of the game (until there's way to prevent them in the future).

CSGOL do not have a backup. The throwers probably removed the skins from CSGOL ASAP to avoid getting their new skins taken away. The rules also state that the tournament-hosts need to announce suspicion of cheat/throw BEFORE drafts begin. Which means CSGOL can't do anything and won't do anything.

Here you go: "easy life easy skin, also skins from the most expensive account were skipped" (I think he means that csgl/hltvorg didn't post the ss / didn't find that account) "ALSEN > IBP" (nothing to translate here xd) "boast of how much did YOU earn? cause I already know about mouz, rallen and norbiak" (these 3 knew about the throw before the match) It's not a perfect translation, but you get the point. And his polish is TERRIBLE, so that also makes it harder to translate :D .

Another though. We should blame ELIMINACJA. They probably bet for themself cause it seems everyone was aware of that throw so they were aware too. They should also throw to fuck alsen. D be fun to watch a match like this :D

sad day for csgo scene. Gambling is ruining cs, but on the other hand if csgo lounge didn't exist I'm sure they would lose 90% of the viewers and interest from the csgo community. GG.

What he said ^^ I still think that the betting is great, and i enjoy it myself, its a nice thing and i makes more interest into the game, but when things like this happen then its sad, the whole community is in an akward situation now, ppl's idols stealing their money, thats what this actually is, ppl stop supporting ppl that do these kind of things, and support the real ones!!

Bets make only sense if both teams fight for a fianl vitory in a big tournament. Low tier games for nothing should not be listed because it makes a great desire to rig and we are only humans. Ofc betting sides dont give a fuck, they just want profits from traffic.

facebook.com/alsenteam A lot could be said about skins and match betting in CS:GO and even more about ‘match fixing’ situations. The truth is that as an organisation, we were always against adding our matches to the CSGO Lounge site because of the possibility of unfair play. There were plenty of similar situations and other teams were caught cheating in a similar manner. Sometimes these accusations were true and sometimes just the opposite. Unfortunately, our last game against ELIMINACJA was added to the CSGL site and just like most people think, someone decided to take advantage of this. The question is who, was it our team or our rivals? We are very unhappy with the fact that most people blame our organisation, which is not guilty of anything. Our organisation did not profit from this situation at all, however we are very sorry that a lot of people who believed in our players lost their skins. We will investigate this case further and we will take necessary steps to avoid these kinds of situations in the future. Best regards Pawe; „Pawcio” Watemborski

You should report that to EPS Poland / CSGL / HLTVorg. Especially rallen, minise and mouz abusing that information and not telling it forward - I'm hoping they will get long bans for that.

the sad thing is some people tried to warn us but 99% of us probably thought they were trying to sway odds. but if a recognizable player competing in EPS, such as rallen (who took advantage of the situation), warned everybody or reported this it could have easily been prevented..

This is the clear effect of adding games, where some of the teams have nothing to lose. It's like watching Denial (former LunatiK) lose 16-5 or so on Mirage to a team, they go on to beat 16-6 on Mirage the next day (CEVO and ESEA had map pools line up). It's honestly sad, that CSGOLounge was made aware of this situation, way before game start, and still decided to do nothing. They could've started the investigation prior to the game, and closed the game, due to matchfixing, prior to it becomming an issue - ending up stealing skins away from the community. But yeah. The toxicity is real.

"a team" could have taken CEVO/ESEA more seriously than Denial, or Denial could have taken CEVO/ESEA less seriously i believe they focused more on CEVO

Don't know about polish criminal law but the federal court of justice in germany made clear that this kind of stuff is considered as fraud. Can't imagine that they're handling it different in Poland or in any other country. So, imo it's rather a task for the prosecution than it is for the ESL and the question of being banned from further CS competition.

Honestly I am not even mad, nor do I even care. I don't bet and this is simply one of the very reasons why. I think betting is hurting the community especially when everyone's bets are tossed into a pool and divided at the end. It leaves to much incentive for the teams competing to throw matches and walk away with $1,000's.

The solution is easy. Stop putting these games, that no one cares about, on lounge. Same for chinese games, indian games, south african games, brazilian games, ESWC, even NA games... Those are games perfect for throws, that's why i always bet on the underdog. If even pro teams like VP and iBP have had some history with throws of course that the same will happen with these nobodies like ALSEN. I dont blame the guys to be honest, it's easy money. I blame lounge for accepting these games on their site when it's obvious that the throw potential is huge

Easy, csgolounge should work with valve in order to trade ban their accounts. Also, they should be part of some "shame list (cly, emilio, nille)" and never be accepted in any cs:go team/tournament.

There should be created some kind of association to support and regulate all the online counter strike scene, just like FIFA on football. CSGO Lounge and Egamingbets involves money, real money, and if some guys (like Alsen players) win bets by losing on purpose there are others that lose it unfairly. If you have balls, know the game, know all the things happening in CS scene (even behind it)and love the game, just go ahead. If this (and DDoS also) keeps going on, we will probably see a lot sponsors, and potential ones, stop to give their contribute to online tournaments. It's a shame, we all lose. Counter strike as lots of potential to be huge eSport, people in a few years can watch it at home like we now watch football. Wake up Valve, do something to stop this, you have a diamond on your hands.

this kind of shit needs to stop if people are going to take counter-strike seriously as an esport, and if we want to be able to take ourselves seriously. we need to be absolutely ruthless with people like these, they deserve to have their names remembered in a hall of shame and be barred from playing in the high-level competitive leagues for at least a few years, and then for life if it happens again. that kind of severity is what happnes to match-fixers in professional sports and we should follow that example. there is literally no excuse for this. none. this is cancer. people who do this are cancer.

I honestly think that all of these guys should be kicked from their team by the organization, and also valve should do something or people who organize tournament should ban them for some period. People from the pro scene need to take this game more seriously and i'm not talking only about the players!!! I'm not a LoL player, but i'm pretty sure that if a LoLproplayer got caught doing some shitty like that.. yea he would be banned for at least 6 months.

I think the best we can hope for is ESL banning them for 10 years and org's kicking them. CSGOL banned them and prevented daimon from getting 1000 value. from his facebook: facebook.com/AMNESIAdiamon "I am very sorry because CSGOLounge blocked my account where I could pull skins worth $ 1000, but do not worry, not long! Tomorrow a stream of case opening and give away!"

##################### 21820 people placed 62798 items. It's not only about how much they earned. It's also about how much people lost. In normal sport people can go to prison for fixing matches. I don't see any other option than BAN from all major leagues all Alsen players. I can't think what punishment can get rallen, mouz, norbiak and others who were involved. They didn't play the match but simply know about the throw and decided to participate in this scam. This makes them also guilty. They need to get ban in every league/tournament to avoid this kind of situation. If admins/organizations won't react, we will see this shit coming again in 2015 also.

That's what happens when there's no security while betting behind pro and semi professional teams. Just the idea of betting on a computer game is too risky; When you're betting on horses there's less chances that you get caught since it's anonymous, but on a computer there's still the ip, the steam id etcetera. CSGOlounge should be removed and the benefit would be no more of these shits, but on the other hand it just will divide the number of viewers.

absolutely disgusting. ban these lowlifers from all leagues, tournaments and csgl. and just never add those no name matches again, too easy for them to get money. also the ESC players who bet on this match, knowing it'll be a throw should be banned like the others as well.

Ban all of them, leagues should work together in this case and DQ them for life from all possible tournaments. Moving step foward - i would even ban ESC guys since they knew and made profit out of it. Ill repeat - they made profit out of illegal act. We need a good lesson for others who do this, ban them all. Thank you brainless Diamon for letting us know that ESC took part in it.

I doubt very few pro team would throw for skins (except for virtus pro), like it's obvious that some teams never throw for skins. It's a team choice, not a individual choice, most players aren't cheating scumbags.

I don't get whats the big fuss about, iBP do it a lot only they do it with brains, alternative accounts that they don't even use on streams on different IP's therefore no one could trace it back to them. Same with C9. You guys should look at Nooky's inventory, ex-mouz captain. He earned most of his inventory betting on himself (but that's legal), not if chrisJ was obviously cheating that day.

Guns don't kill people. People shooting guns kill people. CSGOLounge isn't killing CS:GO. It's retarded teams throwing matches that is killing CS:GO. Leagues need to start banning players to form an example. In Korea, KeSPA banned the StarCraft players throwing matches for life. Now it's very rare for someone to throw a match. If ESL did the same, no one would be throwing matches. edit: And about DDoS. Professional players need to take responsibility. If you're playing an important match, protect yourself. It really is not difficult at all.

If there were no bets no one would care about throws...and no team would lose on purpose and it wont matter even if they did...! The Bets are really hurting the online cs go scene but sadly the Community will die off without it...i would have done the same if i was in team ALSEN haha and yea 80% of u would too..who doesnt want free $ ! haha.. and yea i dnt think anyone can stop this "throw" thingy... so my point is that it would be pointless to send team ALSEN to jail.! haha P.S. I made a small bet on Team Eliminacja just cause it was Dust 2 !

Well first thing which I think of is that they did something illegal, totally illegal, no excuses for both guys who threw the game and rest who knew and took advantage of it. If it was all about low amounts of money we wouldn't scream and shout at them, just know they are cunts. We've got clear proofs that they did what they are accused of, some of the informed guys told the rest to even bet on ALSEN, because it is 100% SAFE BET (facebook.com/csNorbiak?fref=ts) Every crime should finish with a punishment, and this one should be rigorous enough to prevent others from trying. 21820 people placed 62798 items. I wish they all finish with cases in court if it is only possible.

stupid behaviour from the Poles but only retards bet on these lowbob-tier crap matches :D no wonder stuff like this happens because its a low-tier game where the noname players have no respect towards the tournament and fair play. all they care about is themselves.

csgolounge wanted to point out that "tournament admins and organizers, and [csgolounge] site admins did and will do everything to stop stuff like this". unless they can make a quick buck out of it. multiple csgolounge admins were made aware of at least 1 of these bets before the match started

I didn't bet on this game, and I'm glad. But these kids should be barred from playing in any future events again, for sure.

If you look comments you will see that they had something to do with it but didn't get caught. michi was trading his awp asiimov stattrak ft for 3 normal bet-able awps asiimovs just few hours before match (he was losing like 25 euros on this trade) Also diamon inventory and ss of his wining from news: imgur.com/lTX8sXT Many items are the same as with ss from news (stickers are just easy example you can see on first page)

It's sadly a part of any sport, when betting is involved. We see it in normal sports too, even on high level from time to time. Not much one can do, except remove betting from non-important matches and induce harsh punishments to players caught cheating the system.

This, punishment needs to be so harsh that there is incentive to play fair, not cheat. If the punishment is too low, it will make sense for many poor people to take the risk and cheat as the upside is much larger than downside.

What i am wondering is if we need to send in The United Nations in polandations in poland, to help The people of This poor country WHO have to resort to crimin criminal behaviour just to survive...

It is important that ESL and similiar organizations in the industry make a strong stance on this issue. Minimum 2 year ban on all competitive esports matches/cups/lan sounds reasonable. Offer 6month shorter ban if they donate their illegal winnings to the victims. Send the message to the community that cheating will not be tolerated and create punishment that really deters such actions.

First of all: What a bunch of idiots, it really isn't that hard not to get caught with this shit. Secondly: This is a problem! this is very likely happening a lot and the only solutions I can think of is to punish these players hard and not to add unimportant matches to a betting site. This will definitely happen again since if they just log in to a different account on a different pc (school/friends pc idk) they would almost be no proof of them doing this unless it was deeply investigated. Last of all: These players should be punished in real life for all the skins they stole and all the skins people who bet on them lost, but this probably isn't legally possible. But they definitely should be banned from every major league/tournament for at least 3 years. Losing their organisation is way too light of a punishment. The other people who took advantage of this should be punished as well.

I don't know why everyone is so critical of these people. They're not a good enough team to make it to LANs. They have no business being on CSGOLounge. I would blame CSGL for this. From an ethics stand point doing this is not ok. From a business stand point it wouldn't make sense not to do it. I'm not gonna sit here like a hypocrite and tell you how awful this is. I would do it too. I'd feel bad for the people that bet on me but I would do it. And if you think this is the only time this has happened look at every tournament so far where the match they played didn't count or the prize money was small. Lounge admins need to stop adding no name teams on there. And if they still do it add a betting limit based on the value of your inventory/returns. For example if your inventory is worth $50 you're only allowed to bet 20% of that on a certain game. On trusted games that have big teams you can bet the full $50. And CSGL if you guys end up using this I'm gonna politely ask for commission in the form of a knife because I'm fucking awful at betting and I won't ever be able to make that much money.

Are you serious... You don't understand why people are so critical of others stealing money? Are you perfectly ok with stealing? Taking something that isn't rightfully yours? conning thousands of people out of their money in an unjust way... geeze your post is so pathetic.
