fnatic beat iBP to top group B

fnatic have secured the top spot in the FACEIT Finals' Group B after a 16-12 win over iBUYPOWER on de_dust2.

After losing their first match of the day, iBUYPOWER came into the match hoping to do a better job than Cloud9 and at least pick up one victory but they ended up making the same kind of mistakes that had proved costly on de_inferno.

The North American side, who started out on the Terrorist side, came out the brighter and won the pistol round with ease. Some great scout action from Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer in A did a lot of damage to iBP's players and almost gave fnatic the round, but Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson stopped the defuse at the last second after picking up a triple kill.

An early buy from fnatic then failed to bear fruits and deeply hurt the economy of the Swedish team, who would be torn apart by Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham's AWP in the fifth round.

fnatic with a perfect 12 points from four matches

It was only when fnatic saw themselves trailing their opponents 0-7 that they finally managed to react. The Swedish side picked themselves up and strung seven rounds together, with iBP taking the final round as the scoreboard showed 8-7 in favour of the North American giants.

In the second half, a mid push towards B from fnatic proved very effective, with Jesper "JW" Wecksell and Robin "flusha" Rönnquist both getting two kills to their name.

iBUYPOWER responded during the first gun rounds and even took the score to 12-12 after some trades with fnatic, but then they made yet another grave mistake: with their opponents on eco, iBP put two players in the middle in three in A, this way leaving B wide open for the take.

flusha's 1-on-1 win against Sam "DaZeD" Marine in the following round restored a two-round lead for fnatic, who sealed a 16-12 victory to make sure they avoid LDLC in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Of note on the round differential, iBP clinches a playoff spot with any win over Dignitas. Of course, if either team wins both games, they move on to the semis. Because the round differential difference (say that three times fast) is currently at +/- 17, even if Dig wins the first game 16-0, they still need to win the second because a score of 16-14 in iBP's favor would still give iBP the edge.

Sad that ska couldn't hit his shots, iBP are showing great things, but they lose their composure when it matters. I still think that they will it through tomorrow versus dig.

HLTV's rating system is complete trash. Swag with 23K 21D with a hs% of 69.6, but yet still has a lower rating than Krimz who has 20K 17D and a hs% of 30. I know that hs% isn't everything, but it should still count towards the rating. Also just saw that pronax and flusha have a higher rating than him, that's just stupid.

Why should it? That way AWP'ers automatically get a lower rating simply because you feel like hs% is important enough to get an extra reward.

I'm not saying that it should be massive increase or decrease in rating because there are more facts than just aim. But it should count a bit. The main point is that either the people or program that come up with the ratings give a higher rating to the players on the winning team which they or it shouldn't do, because these stats are of players and should be based on how well the player performed individually. These stats should not be affected by whether the team won or not.

Once again I don't think it should be a massive increase, maybe .01 for every 10% you have higher than the average and vise virsa. That way it really won't punish the awpers that much but would reward riflers that have good aim, but wouldn't reward them to much.
