iBP to FACEIT final over LDLC

iBUYPOWER are through to the grand final of the FACEIT Season 2 League Finals after a 2-0 victory over LDLC (31-27 on de_inferno, 16-12 on de_dust2)

After losing the knife round, LDLC had to settle for the less-favoured Terrorist side, but they made the most of it in the pistol round, getting control of the middle area early on despite Keven "AZK" Lariviere's triple kill in the pit. The Frenchmen were then stunned on the eco after running into iBUYPOWER's crossfire in the middle.

iBP took the following two rounds to make it 3-1 in their favour, but a great push onto A from LDLC put the French team immediately back into the game. LDLC would go on to tie the game at three rounds, but then iBP began to control proceedings and to read their opponents to perfect, which allowed the North American side to take the last nine rounds of the half.

In the second half, a textbook B push from iBP caused a great deal of damage on LDLC's defensive line, with a triple from Lucas "steel" Lopes and a double from Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham eventually giving the North American side the round. However, some great Scout work from Richard "shox" Papillon on Archside in the following round put the French team right back into the game.

LDLC then took control of proceedings and strung a few rounds together, much to the surprise of iBUYPOWER, who had a great chance to stop the Frenchmen's momentum at 13-7 after finding themselves in a 5-on-3 situation, but a quad kill from Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer on Truckside kept their opponents at bay.

The French side would go on to reduce the deficit to 12-13, when a fast push from iBP onto A with very few grenades put the North Americans on the brink of victory. The rest of the half would go down to the wire, but in the end of the 30 rounds the teams were tied 15-15. A total of three overtimes were required to set these two teams apart, with iBP sealing a 31-27 victory in the end.

AZK was key to iBP's victory

On de_dust2, LDLC found themselves on the back foot from the start as both Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt and Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey got tagged early in the pistol round, which made things a lot easier for iBUYPOWER.

The North American team remained in the driving seat for the next rounds. With the scoreline 5-0 in favour of iBUYPOWER, LDLC went for a double AWP setup, only to see Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux get taken down early on in the double doors.

It was only when LDLC found themselves down 0-7 that they finally managed to break iBP's momentum as the Frenchmen took two rounds in a row. Still, iBP remained calm and collected, and so steel's side went into half-time leading 11-4.

iBP then piled more pisery on LDLC after stopping LDLC's mid-B split in the pistol round. After winning the two anti eco-rounds, iBP also took the first gun round thanks to a triple kill from AZK inside B. The French team were now down 4-15 but they refused to throw in the towel and began to win rounds to clos the gap on their opponents. Still, it was too little, too late, as iBP ran out 16-12 winners to progress to the grand final of the tournament.

First map was inferno, and they were both pretty evenly matched, it could have been either team to win it. They both had equal amounts of sick plays, and mistakes made. Dust2 seemed to be iBP playing really well, hitting shots, while LDLC wasn't as on-point. NBK said on twitter afterwards that they had little/no sound on inferno, and that they were outplayed on dd2.

Nbk and kio played pretty badly. Cost them loads of rounds. On d2 nbk died about 5 times in a row at the same angle vs the same player, immensely retarded.

Inferno was best map played this year, amazing invidual plays and tactics from both teams. Dust2 comeback from LDLC was almost epic aswell, if they had pulled it off i can't name a better match in cs:go history. But i still think fnatic or VP will be too strong.

Great game between LDLC and IBP on inferno, lot of lucky rounds between them but I think the mental pressure got to LDLC on dust2. If they hadn't trailed off to a 0-7 start they would of had a good chance on d2. Overall, I think it was just a bad day for LDLC.

LDLC looking awful today, getting very very few clean entries unlike every other game i ve seen from them. iBP was overall solid, but i put this loss all on LDLC players. Gg to both teams, hoping to see LDLC go big at ESWC.

They sure as hell surprised me, didn't expect them to make it out of groups, yet they did AND they beat LDLC 2-0. Color me surprised. Wish I had bet on the iBP vs LDLC game.

So many kids flaming french right now, you lost skins before and now you bash :) IBP played well, no pressure. Now let's sée how they handle to be the favorite next time. Don't forget all the pressure was on LDLC, IBP had nohing to lose in this game.

I'm honestly surprised iBP has done what they've done, especially beating LDLC 2-0....I was surprised enough just from them getting out of groups. Really wish I had bet on the iBP vs LDLC match, honestly didn't think iBP could pull it through.

And my fellow Euros are suddenly whining. Stfu pls NA > EU. America has 2 of the worlds top 10 teams, and out of several countries in EU we're actually in a worse position.

You have to remember that 75% of the people in the US probably have no clue what eSports are except for CoD and CS is much more popular and known in EU.

Same goes for football or "soccer" as they like to call it. Big sport in Europe, but in America not really.

i think LDLC just ran out of steam, they like to get games over and finished quickly. IBP didnt allow that to happen, good play from both teams but i think we know who would win if they both played their best.
