fnatic breeze past Virtus.pro 2-0

fnatic have progressed to the grand final of the FACEIT League Season 2 LAN Finals after a 2-0 victory over Virtus.pro (16-8 on de_inferno, 16-7 on de_mirage).

So far in Milan we have seen dominating CT performances on de_inferno, and this match was no exception, with fnatic strolling to an early 11-0 lead as nothing seemed to be going Virtus.pro's way on the offensive side.

At the 12th attempt Virtus.pro finally managed to break through fnatic's defense following a quick middle push, with Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski getting two entry frags plus one more kill while defending the bomb. The Polish team's recovery was short-lived, however, as fnatic won the last three rounds of the half to take a 14-1 lead into the break.

In the second half, fnatic went for a mid rush onto archway, where Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas got three headshots in quick succession to spoil the Swedish team's plans.

After losing the two eco rounds, fnatic A from archway and planted the bomb in the site but failed to hold it down as Filip "NEO" Kubski went for the defuse in a 1-on-1 situation with Robin "flusha" Rönnquist.

jw set the tone on both maps

Virtus.pro would go on to reduce the deficit to 8-14, but two straight rounds in favour of fnatic shut the Poles down and gave Markus "pronax" Wallsten's men a 1-0 lead in the series.

Next up was de_mirage, which is traditionally a very strong map for Virtus.pro. The Polish team confirmed such credentials in the pistol round on the Terrorist side as they stormed through A, killing everyone in their path. They were, however, caught off-guard in the first anti-eco round, in which an amazing Scout headshot by Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer cleared the path for fnatic to win the round with the CZs.

fnatic strung the next four rounds together to make it 5-1 for them, but their winning streak came to an end following an A rush from Virtus.pro. Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson still managed to get three kills to his name, but then Paweł "byali" Bieliński won a 1-on-2 clutch to complete a quad kill.

For the rest of the first half, the two teams just exchanged rounds, so when it was time to switch sides fnatic were claiming a 10-5 lead.

Snax pulled off an impressive ace on mirage

In the pistol round as CT, Snax stopped an B push from fnatic all by himself, but the Swedes replied immediately after and took said bombsite armed with CZs, only to see Virtus.pro pull one back in an eco of their own to restore a four-round deficit.

From then on, however, the match was a one-way street, as fnatic won five rounds in succession to celebrate a 16-7 win that puts them up against iBUYPOWER in the grand final of the Italian event.

Both, NiP & NaVi would get raped. Only interesting final would be LDLC vs fnatic, but still would like to see if iBP can do some dmg like in the group matches.

Looking at EU who have won most lately, at least on lan since Na'Vi hasn't played nearly any online matches, it is LDLC>Fnatic>Na'Vi. With iBP, Na'Vi and fnatic being the only one winning maps against them during their winning streak. NiP tho..... <.<

well play fnatic , strong perfomance in Italy. Im not agree with thorin that old teams are gone. You cant be on top all the time , fnatic win 250,000 lan. Then they was gone , team like fnatic are not uknow , they are always in top 10 whatever what. And NiP , dignitas nad VP are still top 5 teams in the world , but u cant win always. Its this same like in footlball. Brazil , spain etc they cant win every time , but if they loose its dont mean that they are gone , well play , looking foward to final :)

Was expected even if VP were in top form, Fnatic have shown massive improvement after the addition of krimz and olof. Plus JW's awp outclasses pasha any day. I don't even consider pasha a top tier awper, hes overrated. Not only is Fnatic's lineup solid but VP has no offical IGL and they keep mixing it up so no solid strats/caller.

VP has never dominated, though. NiP has pretty much been the only team who's been dominating for a significant amount of time. It comes in waves for other teams.
