Ninjas in Pyjamas ingame leader Richard "Xizt" Landström has admitted to being embarrassed with his team's group stage exit at ESWC 2014.

NiP cut a frustrating figure in Paris as they finished fourth of their group following victories against KaBuM and CPH Wolves, and defeats against Platinium-Servers, HellRaisers and Titan.

For a team who had dreamed of securing their second ESWC title in CS:GO, NiP were well off the mark, and questions are unavoidably being raised about the team's chances of securing back-to-back major titles as DreamHack Winter is less than a month away.

Xizt unsure of what should be done

Following NiP's elimination, Richard "⁠Xizt⁠" Landström admitted that his team deserve the criticism for their poor displays. What is surprising, however, is that he confessed to being unsure about what the team can do to end this form slump.

Cant get worse then this, surely we deserve all the flame. Not sure where to go from here, this is emberrasing. Sorry to all NiP followers.

Friberg was using a Rival (6 ms), now he's using a g400s (0.1 ms). And to be clear why are zowie SHIT MICE with 15 ms and Intelli and Deathadder with 13 ms are considered the best mice in the world? They were the best but they got caught up fast by many teams. Just look at the old ESC line-up, Taz and co. were quite bad in CSGO when moved from 1.6. But after making changes to their roster, look at where they are now

Core group is working well (gtr,forest and friberg) even xizt shines once and a while, but fifi needs to go... I get that whole thing that they are friends and other stuff, but he is not on a pro level... there are so many great Swede players that are free agents or in lower teams that are 3 classes better than fifi...

It's not working. GeT_RiGhT is struggling to even get a decent spray with m4a1. f0rest carries nip for the most part, so I won't complain too much on him. Friberg hasn't been getting many frags at all lately. He has been bottomfragging quite a bit actually. Xizt is like... meh... He has some nice games, but even he's underperforming. Fiffy's job isn't getting frags. His job is getting information, supporting and making it easier for f0rests and GeT to get kills. If you don't understand fiffys role you don't understand NIP. Fifflaren is on a pro level, but mostly people can't see it, since all they're looking for is frags. And it's not only because they're friends. From start they didn't know eachother, fifflaren didn't topfrag then, but they kept him. They know fiffy's role, though most fans don't.

Yep pretty much. Fiffy is the biggest scapegoat in CSGO while the rest of NiP get a free pass to suck for weeks/months on end. The team itself is folding, not just one player and changing Fiffy won't make NiP good again, let alone back to their prime form. Their problems are a lot deeper than most people care to notice.

Fiffy can get information, support and make it easier for the star players to get frags while also not losing every duel, giving away easy entries to bombsites, and generally not surviving, let alone getting frags. There is no role in CS which cannot be performed with a positive K/D, and there is no way if Fifflaren could perform that role and still win more duels, get more frags, stay alive for longer, that the team wouldn't perform better. In other words, this is a poor excuse. You're implying his role is both necessary for the team to work, and impossible to perform on a significantly higher level. Neither is necessarily true. Perhaps a restructuring where Fiffy's role doesn't exist would do NiP good; for certain, a restructuring of his play to a higher level would. Fifflaren is definitely not the sole reason NiP are struggling right now. But to excuse his consistently shitty performance compared to his teammates with his "role" in the team is to assert that such a role is necessary and couldn't be performed any better, either by Fifflaren or by someone else. I'd like to see you cogently defend both those assertions.

I will defend the "giving away easy entries to bombsites" with the fact that fifflaren and xizt are both regularly the last ones to survive per round. It is normally friberb and f0rest who take the initial battles on the ct sides.

doesnt matter which role you have - if you cant trade, you are lacking basic skill - fiff is not trading - EOD. and its more the way he dies, he often dies waiting on someone to peek, and when they do, he cant kill em. He has every advantage possible in the game, and still fail to succeed. This is not information gathering, its not taking a risk of any sort, other than failing, because your basic skill is not high enough. AND he cant clutch shit even with no enemies left on the map he dies to the bomb. im sorry but this is reality. regardless of his role.

Even if you are right... still the question is "what to do?" and the easiest answer is to change the player that has never shine, player than cannot frag, and take different type of player in; entry-fragger, awpeer, better support player. It is still obvious answer to change Fifflaren even if he would have done his job as well as always. Maybe there isnt a role in today´s top level for a who can just "scout"

NiP have the talent to still be relevant. GTR = Really good lurker. Friberg = Really good entry fragger. f0rest = what can you say? he can do anything. entry, awper, lurker, you name it. xizt = great IGL, can't deny that. just needs some new material, challenge the new top tier teams. fifflaren = honestly I dunno. he should practice becoming a top AWPer. it's the only way. if not, they have to replace him.

I think something big iz about to come out of NiP in the coming days/weeks - a possible statement prior DreamHack of someone no longer being part of the team or if not prior then after the DreamHack unless NiP somehow win it (which im not going to be surprised with), but if they dont then...................... I feel like it's been downhill since they got the whole "only big tournaments matter" mentality, when they just started slacking in online matches and whatnot. If you wanna be the best, you need to be the best all the time, and not just hope you can pull off winning lans after not taking any other matches seriously.

To every one saying nip need an dedicated sniper wake the fuck up. This game does not revolve around 1 person holding 1 position. God get_right and f0rest(probably the smartes player in the world) should know that. f0rest alone knows the game inside out he can improve the team as a whole. Fifflarens plays are dumb and borederline noobish. And i'm not talking aim wise hes aim is some what decent but god hes positioning is awful but when i say he has decent aim guys there at least 15 players out there that you will be better with then him aim and fucking game sense wise... Just don't understand how a brilliant player like f0rest who grew from the Embrace day's and was on top of the world for so long in 1.6 can get to a point where hes teammates are borederline average outside of Get_right and xzist when he decides he wants to play. Pita as a coach come on guys really? Pita is like Red` or kixxer or any of the old swedish pub stars they can win big things when they are on fire but when the game is decided on a mental basis and tactical decisions he isn't your guy who you should be listening ... He did not have the time in 1.6 to develop to the point snajden did that you could use him in that same manner.. Please get a hold of your self's and make the changes you need because its really sad to see you guys just walking in to a brick wall that you created by not wanting to evolve. Dammit even the french did it and when did the french every evolved in team chemistry ? NiP needs a primary awper because forest and GTR should not pick up awps when they are pure beasts with m4/ak. Every team member needs to focus on a specific role. One thing i agree with you is that fifflaren is just plain bad.

Yup, totally don't need a dedicated sniper. They show that off on a map like d2, which totally doesn't require a sniper of some sort. Titan never had any bad players (aside from Ex6 arguably) but just an unfortunate team composition. I think it's safe to say all doubts about SmithZz have been utterly removed with his recent performance, now that he's granted the role he's good at. If you ask me, Scream's considerably much better than Maniac. And Schneider is by no means bad. I'd rather have seen JW replaced. OlofM is a better AWPer anyway.

sometimes you cant go on with the same roster..that has been proven in dota2 as well (e.g. NaVi had the same lineup, great friends bla bla this, bla bla that, but their game wasn't that good after being together for 2 years).

Haha no one in nip seems to have the balls to just point it out. Fifflaren is, by far, the weakest link. Even most people on these forums are defending his poor performance by some role status. Even IF his poor fragging ability is explainable by a role status (which I highly doubt), I know there are tens of other swedish players who could do the role far better than fiffy, while also getting some frags. Besides a support player role should at worst case scenario have a minor effect on fragging, not like cutting it in half. There seems to be this aura about fiffy being the best support player on the planet, which is just 200% concentrated bullshit. Just watching fiffy play and miss those easy shots, overpeaking like a bot and wasting his money on the awp he can't use makes me cringe. Time for a reality check for nip...

As a Fan of Nip i look to the scottish Football supporters. They are always there, supporting their team 100% in the World Cup and when things don't go all that well they are still there applauding their team for a good try. I am not saying there should be roster changes, there could be always time where they can bounce time. However, they should after this, really consider if friendship is more valueble than winning. This is a pretty worldwide subject, everybody knows that friendship in a work invironment doesn't work that good when you can have better. It was clear in all of their games that they lacked behind basically all teams in all areas. Also they do not have any pick potential, no top awper and very little strats.

What have always impressed me is the fact that Xizt is calling strats, when get_right and f0rest are much more experienced. It's absurd to say the role of these players is to get frags. This is no dm guys.. Strats are really important, and also is the psychological status of the team. Xizt seems to be cold blooded and concentrated, but the fact is he's overestimated. Fifflaren, in the other hand, seems to me to have a really low confidence - being good in counter-strike is not something your born with: I really don't understand how get right and f0rest and friberg can't teach him shit - he's really really bad and dumb ingame imo. Cs is a very dialetical game, and you gotta have really smart players if you wanna win. They are not PLAYING.

Im a NiP fan and I really hope they will do a player change. I have been against that until now, Fifflaren is clearly the worst "pro" player out there. With that said, everyone has struggled for a time now. NiP need an awper, they cant do anything to stop guys like JW/kenny etc.. And to give AWP to f0rp (which is really good a it) is just waste of hes amazing rifle skills.

It's hard to judge, but nip really has to do something. They got a lot of talent in the team and in paper top 3 team in any tournament. But then they fall flat, map after map. I hope they bootcamp the crap out and try out new player(s) in the roster to see which one works. The talent in the team is unquestionable, they just need better execution in tourneys.

Yeah I always disagreed with the ridiculous -fiffy posts after every lan or random game. Mainly because NiP were still better than everyone else anyway and they won perfectly well with Fiff in the role he played. But whatever his defenders say he really is one of the worst players in the top 20 or so teams and the level of the actual current top teams is now incredibly high as many teams have perfected their line-ups (fnatic, dignitas, LDLC etc). So those teams have now caught up with and even overpowered NiP and they can no longer carry their weak link through games. I like fiff and he's a better player than I'll ever be but I'd be very surprised if NiP continue to win anything major with this current line-up now that there is so much good competition. But I guess we'll see after Dreamhack winter, I'll be happy if I'm proved wrong!

I also started supporting this idea recently however I don't think it will fix everything right away. I hope bringing another beast player like maikelele or Schneider will help them get back on track. It's not like if you replace fifflaren get_right will become godlike again out of nowhere. Nip like to setup T side to be immune to flanking and teams know not to try and play aggressive CT side vs them because of it. 3 things I'd change. 1.Stop force buying. T side on all maps is too hard to be expected to eco win or win on short buys. Eco rounds buys should be p250 and 1 smoke or flash 2.Use smoke to cover the flank. And take the risk of having full 5 man executes. You may get thrashed some rounds but you will have to be able to win 5v2 now so you need your last 2 players ready and close. 3.Play up tempo in default. By keeping the attack balanced and fast you can find the one chink that can allow you the entryway you need.

Only in tournaments because of invites and past glory. See Fnatic. Add 2 new players, become top 2 team in months. "Fifflaren is good!" -> No. He is not. There is statistics to back this up. No. There is no support- player role in this game. Everything comes to killing the other player. Outplaying and outaiming him. Fifflaren cannot do this on pro- level. That has been seen. What NiP must do: Kick Fifflaren -> Take Schneider in. Kick Xzist -> Take dennis / Twist in. Completely rework your play. Make someone main awper. Maybe Dennis? Forget all you know. Figure out the best plays for each map. Train them. Worked with Fnatic. Will work with NiP too if given the opportunity. Let the flame wars begin.
