Virtus.pro take third place at ESWC

Virtus.pro have scooped the bronze medal at ESWC 2014 after a 2-1 victory over Natus Vincere (16-12 on de_mirage, 11-16 on de_nuke and 16-3 on de_inferno).

With an extra $5,000 and bragging rights at stake, there was plenty to fight for in this third-place decider, even though motivation from both teams probably hit a low after being denied passage to the final.

The first map of the best-of-three tie was de_mirage, Na`Vi's pick, a curious pick considering Virtus.pro are usually very strong on it. Some strong attacking play from the Polish team saw them take a 10-5 lead going into the break. In the second half, Virtus.pro further enlarged their lead by taking the opening three rounds, and even though Na`Vi managed to close the gap in the gun rounds, Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács's side could not prevent their opponents from running out 16-12 winners.

Virtus.pro scoop $10,000 cheque

Next up was de_nuke, where Virtus.pro got off to an early five-round lead on the CT side. Na`Vi then strung three rounds together to reduce the deficit to 3-5, but Virtus.pro regained controlled of proceedings and finished the half up 11-4. Now playing on the CT side, Na`Vi, powered by a quad kill from Denis "seized" Kostin in the pistol round, turned in a perfect display as they picked up 12 rounds in succession to secure a 16-11 victory.

The final map of the tie was de_inferno, where Virtus.pro, who began on the CT side, stormed through a 12-3 scoreline after picking up the first six rounds of the half. A B push from the Polish team in the pistol round piled more misery on Na`Vi and inspired Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas's team to post a 16-3 win and capture the $10,000 cheque.

Form makes a huge difference, next month VP could be better than LDLC but I think LDLC overall is better because VP are too inconsistent. VP win big games but they dont win tournaments, not consistent enough even when they are on good form.

In this year were 2 big tournaments, and one of them VP won. There was about 4 medium tournament's and VP won one of them, and they get 2nd place in one. There achieve some 3-4 place in smaller tournament's and leagues, also won faceit. In this perspective, this is one of the most succed team in this year. But what about a ldlc?:D

If they were playing LDLC instead of dignitas they would have been rekt. Because they did a lot of mistakes against dignitas. But it did not append and LDLC are in the grand final... So no, for now LDLC > VP Maybe we'll see at DHW! But VP is getting better since neo is leading :)

from nearly eliminated on the group stage (with their pride to swallow as usual) to third place finisher with a 5000 $ dollar bonus... i think its quite a good deal... SMITHZZZ has allowed VP to be third on world cup ! they should give him at least 10% of the 5000$ i guess ...
