KQLY refutes LAN cheat claims

Hovik "⁠KQLY⁠" Tovmassian was last week handed a VAC ban, after which he stated that he used a trial version of the cheating software only for a week and that it was not during competitive matches.

Such claims were immediately disputed by former Epsilon member Joey "⁠fxy0⁠" Schlosser, who stated he was "100% sure" that his compatriot had been cheating since March 2013.

However, KQLY maintains his stance, claiming that his poor track record during EMS One Katowice and ESL One Cologne is evidence that he did not cheat during LAN events.

A lot of players like fxy0 trash talked a lot about you, saying you had been cheating for several years online and at LAN. Can you swear you never used a cheat except during that specific week, in LAN events or official games?

What is a real shame is that today, people publish everything and anything. Regarding fxy0's case, he just gives his opinion, which is normal, but you can't give credibility to someone who is blacklisted by all top teams. He is strong, its a fact, but he has progress to make in other domains. He should not judge me, because he doesn't know me.

Skillwise, I had ups and downs, depending off the teams I played with. Back to the Clan Mystic days, my skill was higher than today, because I was free to do whatever I wanted, and having a calm leader like HaRts... You really are confident in all your moves, especially because nobody knew me and I could surprise them. It has been a huge boost for my reputation (don't forget KennyS’ level when he played for Clan Mystic).

Then when I played for LDLC, specially after my fail at Katowice, professionnal players knew my style, and they started countering me. It was harder for me to keep the level I had. There were ups and downs, my game was more prepared, more structured, less free, and of course with less frags. Long story short, I never had an amazing skill. I had some good moments, but there was also long periods where I just threw all the games, offline or online.

To conclude with, I failed my 2 first majors, both with my teams and as a player. If I cheated in LAN events, why wouldn’t I do it during the two big events?

How and why did you get in touch with supex0?

Regarding the supex0 case, a friend of mine had him on his friendslist and introduced me to him. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see what he had to offer, and how it was working. After some e-mails, he sent me login informations and his trial software for me to discover. If I wanted to continue using it, I had to recontact him but I never did it because I wasn’t interested. I had a salary, a great structure, "Titan" (really sorry), great teammates, a great manager, and I was making a living with my passion, playing video games.

Do you think that other professional players wil be banned because of the same cheat ?

All of those who used Supex0’s cheat have been banned, but there is other coders and other private cheat. (check the interview on  99damage.de) I don’t know any names,  I’ve always had suspicions about some professional players but as they are not detected, I can’t say anything.

Your CS career being over, what will you do in the upcoming days? 

Beside my career, it was my job, my passion. Now, I don’t know, I will certainly keep streaming, I will play for fun. We never know what to expect. I’m waiting for things to settle down. It has raised doubt on Titan and that is unfortunate. They should not pay for the mistakes I’ve made…
