MY EQUIPMENT AND WHY

Today I will tell you guys about my equipment, what mousepad I use and why? – How long I’ve been playing with my mouse etc. And last; is there the perfect setup?

Mouse

My mouse is the legendary "Microsoft Intelli Explorer 1.1 Special Edition" more known as "Microsoft 1.1 SE" I have been using this mouse since WEG Masters with NoA back in April 2006. I've always wanted to play with the mouse, and after I found out a Chinese guy was selling them in Hangzhou I decided to buy 2 for around 110€.

Billedet “http://peecee.dk/old_uploads/1106/intellimouse.jpg” kan ikke vises, da det indeholder fejl.

Anyways I love the smooth surface there is on the mouse. It gives me a calm aim and I'm not the kind of type that sweats in my hand so this mouse is absolutely perfect for me.

Time with the mouse: 2 years

Mousepad

I've only changed my mousepad 4 times.

2003 func
2004 Steelpad 4D
2004 Qpad
2005-2008 QcK+

As you can see I prefer Qck+, I played started playing with it October 2005 where I attended BIT #2 with evermore. We won the final against Titans so it was a great start for me with that mousepad.

I don't know why I love the mousepad. I think that almost every mousepad is great you just have to get used to it. It’s much easier to get used to a mousepad like QcK+ than the Steelpad SP from my perspective, because the QcK+ has a cloth surface and your mouse doesn't slide, which allows you to get used to it a lot faster. On the other hand the Steelpad SP has a plastic surface and you will have to get used to the sliding etc.

I play with the mousepad because I simply just love mousepads with a cloth surface.

Time with the mousepad: 3 years and 6 months.

Headset

I've changed my headset 4 times.

2003 Plantronics Audio .90
2005 Steelsound 5H
2005 Sennheiser PC160
2006-2007 Steelsound 5H v2
2008 Sennheiser PC350

As you can see I've been changing between Sennheiser and Steelsound 5H, and it's not because I can't find my perfect headset, but because of different sponsors we have had over the past years.
I must say the new Sennheiser headset is extremely high quality. The headset is huge and it completely removes any exterior noise.

Billedet “http://senncom.com/comm/icm_eng.nsf/resources/AFAE612319FA006CC125732900268B17/$File/PC350_410.jpg” kan ikke vises, da det indeholder fejl.

Time with my headset: 4 months

Keyboard

I've changed keyboard two times.

2005 Keytronic
2007-2008 Steelkeys 6G

I have nothing much to say about the keyboard, I believe I can play with almost every keyboard out there, I just need to get used to it, and that’s basically it.

Time with Keyboard: Over 1 year

Is there the perfect setup?

My answer is no. I really believe it's personal and it's about getting used to the equipment you want to play with. If you start playing with a setup and you feel this is your setup, then it's the perfect setup for you. It's not like there are a mousepad better than another one, if I wanted, I could play with qpad or Steelpad SP, but I like the QcK+ so that’s the perfect mousepad for me.

So a quick advice for you guys: Don't go buy a mouse just because mJe or ave is using it, do it because YOU feel better playing with it, and then stick to it. There is no point changing equipment 3 times every month.

Hope you guys enjoyed it, feel free to request anything for next week or simply ask questions regarding this subject.

Nice article. I've only changed my mouse and keyboard once during the 3 years I've played :) Btw, how much do those headset cost? They look enourmous, I'd be very interested to see them myself.

i think he doesn't like the design the ones who worry about the design shouild just be quiet.. it depends on wearing comfort + quality of sound!

well, as long as you can hear where the sound comes from, its just about comfort and looks imo (quality doesnt have to be perfect for gaming imo) then you can discuss microphone quality, but my headset was one i got free with a logitech webcam, and however the sound is sometimes shit when i put on music, im doing fine in cs with it and everyone hears me on vent as well...

i think you misunderstood me ;) with "quality of sound" i did not mean how GOOD it sounds, but that you can hear THE POSITION / LOCATION of the sound ;) i started out with such a headset too.. logitech webcam+headset.. quite a usual one, i'm doing much better with steelseries now ;)

Haha, I mess-read that one. Yea, thats a problem at most LAN-events. You simlply do not have the space for a monster mousepad like QcK. What I do, is pushing the keyboard a little, so its actually on the mousepad.

Well, we have that problem some times aswell, but at big events such as WCG, ESWC etc. are they thinking about the gamers, so we don't really have that problem. Buy a normal qck+, but I dont know if there is a qck heavy in normal size out there.

The bit about your headset is bollocks. I know you have to say that you play with Sennheiser PC350 and it's good hence mTw sponsors. I'll bet you anything up to 10 DKK (:D) that you use Steelsound 5H v2.

I was actually one of the people who recommended the qck heavy when they were testing it. However after a while I started missing the old qcK. I like when my wrist have contact with the table, and that's difficult for me with a qck+ heavy. I've tried MS 3.0, and I liked it like probably everyone else, but there is something about 1.1 SE that is hard to describe, you should try it :P

Tactics would be nice. Like, basic tactics as terror, for example on Dust2. I mean is there a standard tac that u use at the start of the round before u decide where to go. Read the defense so to speak :) I've seen fnatic demos where carn writes standard at the start and for example forest stands outside of long just making sure that no one gets trough there. So I request a standard tactic that u can use basically every round if u dont decide to rush! :D

Is it easy to get used to the different headsets? Right now i have a headset i got for 100DKR and i'm satisfied with the sound but not the comfort. (Håber du forstår/hope you'll understand) I just don't want to spend ~500DKR on a headset i might throw away in 2 weeks. Nice reading Zonic. Regards a big fan ;)

I thought the ms 1.1 SE was 2 old for quick reflexes, when ever you did a swing your mouse would randomly fly up into the air. Think any headset is decent as long as its comfortable

I would like to know whats the difference between a progamers settings/drivers etc and an usual public-players? :p How can you make the game running smoother? Is a new graphic card or a new processor a benefit? Last time when I was spectating a pro team at LAN I noticed that their CS ran much more smoother than mine. Not a single bullet went through opponents.. The game seemed so easy and smooth :D Does a progamer just have a good computer with the newest drivers and a CRT with 100hz? Or is there some tricks?
