Virtus.pro sign two year extensions

Virtus.pro have signed two-year contract extensions with their CS:GO squad, believed to be the most expensive contracts in Counter-Strike history.

The Polish squad started 2014 off with a major championship by winning EMS One Katowice in a legendary run in front of the Polish home crowd for a $100,000 check.

Since then their results have been inconsistent, but they have managed to win Gfinity 3 in early August, and made top four at DreamHack Winter before losing to NiP.

Neo and company will remain under the Virtus.pro flag for a long time

This move means Virtus.pro clearly believe in CS:GO as a game, as they have on their Facebook page dubbed the contracts probably the most expensive in CS history.

We contacted the Polish team's captain Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas for a quick statement regarding their decision to sign two-year extensions with their Russian organization:

"We are extremely happy that we will be able to continue our journey in esports with Virtus.pro for next 2 years. It is something really special for us to have stable and strong organisation that allows us to focus only on what we love: gaming," Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas told HLTV.org.

"We feel here like home, and want to help VP to grow and achieve more success. My special thanks go to Anton Cherepennikov, for again putting a trust in our team

"It is a huge step for us, and for esports."

Virtus.pro will next travel to Dallas to take part in the $47,500 ESEA Invite Season 17 Global Finals, set to take place on December 5-7 with fnatic, Titan and mouz in attendance.

Let's be honest, if Ryan Giggs can play top level football until he is 40, CS players can do that at least. Growing older doesn't have that much impact on your ability to play cs, especially at 30! The only reason they might retire at that age is wanting new challenges, other commitments e.g. family etc.

The problem is its not long term, i mean CSGO is still young and will probably go growing and it still has better salaries than 1.6 but its very hard to make a career out of it, in the other hand Ryan Giggs got thousand of pounds a week.

Since 2006 yep, so in 10 years that is like 10k a year, 10k a month in dollars, for a country like Poland its great and this doesnt include salaries as well, for Sweden/Norway and other countries its not

2006 - 2013 : 8 years 631,251 / 8 = 78906,375 12 months in a year : 78906,375 / 12 = 6575,53125 $ a month 6 575$ a month + Contract and sponsors (+ gaming house? + stream?) = decent even in Norway/Sweden.

Sure it does. But then you just have to reconsider your role in the team and make sure you don't have to rely on your reactions as a primary way to succeed. Of course you'll still need pretty decent reflexes but let the heavy hitters front and use your skill in other aspects of the game.

NiP made around $500 000 from this year's three majors alone. Then comes the minor event prize purses and the piles of sponsorship dough that comes with having the biggest fan base both domestically and internationally. I'm pretty sure they're swimming in cash over at their countryside headquarters.

Didn't each legendeary team get like 107.000dollar or something or was that for all the teams? + they also won 1 major and came second on 3. Thats about 350.000, Not included the stickers from the other 3 majors or all the other events they attended. Im not sure and have no numbers but if you think about it 500.000 might not be to far away. ^^

Didn't n0thing say that playoff teams in Cologne made $120 000 each from sticker money? I don't know the sticker figures for Katowice, but it's at least pretty safe to say that they haven't dropped from Cologne to DH.

I would assume it would be close to that yeah? if the rumors are true and each player got 50k from every major in sticker money then surely the total would be close to the 500k mark..

$17 500 from Katowice: hltv.org/news/12836-the-stickeronomics-o.. ) $110 000 from Cologne: vakarm.net/news/read/Les-stickers-rappor.. $110 000 from DH (probably a conservative estimate) = $237 500 So my initial estimate was a bit off, but $440 000 isn't that far away.

Polish people don't hate Russian people, in fact most see them as victims of the regime. There are exceptions of course, im talking in general. As far as Germany is concerned, the denazification could have played a role. Plus, some time has passed.

I am curious who the coach will be too. Even after losing to NiP I consider this a great tournament for VP. Need to maybe put a little more work into T strats and keep the nerves low in game. Excellent 2 year investment for VP

Great! VP was looking very promising and they performed almost perfectly until they choked against NiP. And like TaZ said on ESEA interview, he didn't feel like they were outperformed. And I agree. At the end they just couldn't win and it is tough game.

Congrats on the new contract G3! People wanting taz removed: 1- He made the strats for this lan and they played with great tactics. 2- He was their best player on ESWC 3- Neo has been performing the worst among the team nevertheless byali needs to step up so because snax can't keep carrying alone. IF guardian speaks polish or if polish & slovak are close languages, i hope to see guardian play with the G5. Because sNax can't continue to entry frag they need him late game because neo is not that good anymore to be the late game player, so someone has to step down for this to happen and it can't be snax/byali/pasha.

Although they are legends in cs history (no doubt), this dhw showed that neo was not the same neo we used to watch and we expect. Against NiP, he didn't make any critical tactical mistakes it seemed but he almost lost all the duals and reveals that he shouldn't be relied on. Neo was the idol for most of us years ago but now he isn't any better than low-bracket players unfortunately. But this is great news indeed, i'm sure now they feel comfortable and dedicated more than ever.

Great news for them! Been a fan since they were Pentagram G-Shock back in the day, oh man the amount of orgs they've went through is nuts, even more nuts is how little they've changed the roster compared to orgs over such a long period.

neo taz pasha &co are respectable figures in cs history unlike those cheating basterdards of fnatic csgo squad who are destroying "fnatic" reputation accumulated by f0rest dsn and carn etc. If fnatic really wants to clear their name, the hackers must be eliminated and permantly banned.
