Copenhagen Wolves ingame leader Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander has been handed a six-month ban from all Gaming.dk tournaments due to his reprehensible behavior at last weekend's LAN finals.

*UPDATE* The original article was changed. Lukas "⁠gla1ve⁠" Rossander's girlfriend was originally not allowed inside the venue, not just on the stage.

gla1ve, who has also been fined 1800 DKK (approximately €242), allegedly threatened to boycott the GDK LAN Finals last weekend if he could not take his gilfriend, Julie "⁠Juliebabz⁠" Kokholm, to the venue with him.

As per tournament rules, teams could only have five players and a manager inside the venue, and Nicolaj "⁠Nico⁠" Jensen's girlfriend had already been registered as CPH Wolves' manager for the tournament.

gla1ve will not take part in GDK tournaments until June

With thousands of fans waiting to watch the grand final and gla1ve nowhere to be seen, the tournament admins ultimately decided to let the player's girlfriend in, but the match still started almost one hour later than scheduled.

"Such an ultimatum is not in line with what we here deem good behaviour," a statement from Gaming.dk read.

"This behaviour was neither professional nor sportsmanlike, and it is not what we expect of our participants.

"Therefore, our judgment is clear: such behaviour has no place in our tournaments and the only way for players to learn this lesson is to feel the consequences

"gla1ve was intentionally responsible for delaying the final for 45 minutes. It is not okay to take away the production team's focus on the show and to make this team-mates and opponents, who showed up on time, wait for him."

In a statement issued to Gaming.dk, gla1ve apologised for his behaviour and stated that he was simply dealing with things that are "much deeper and more personal than Counter-Strike."

I, myself wanted to come and spectate, but there was no room for spectators. There wasn't even a stage. It was in a TV studio. I maybe think that since she traveled with him from Copenhagen (4 hours in train) to watch him play, I don't think she wanted to go home, when she found out - AFTER, that she couldn't even be there to spectate? I'm not sure that this is the real story, but this makes more sense than the rest. Never seen gla1ve pull out Julie from the crowd at a majors, to get her on stage. :) EDIT: I still don't think it justifies delaying the whole tournament and shitting on everyones time, but I do think that it makes a little more sense than the story being told.

Well HLTV didnt really get this right, so therefore i will tell you the story from my point of veiw. We went to the place event was held 2 days before finals, spend 120 euro of our own pocket, cuz Julies family lives there.. saturday we learned that only one person can get in and I tell my team that I want Julie to go since we are already there and Nico aint going before the day after, so he has the possibility of leaving his girlfriend at home.. we hear nothing from Nico again before 1 hour before the event where he says he brought his girlfriend anyways.. this means that he pissed on the fact that my girlfriend is 5h from home and has no way to get home at this point, and yet he still took a chance and brought his girlfriend.. knowing that bringing her might mean that both girls had to sit in the cold and wait.. I then contact Gaming.dk to let them know about this, and they ask us to repsect their rules and not bring 2 extras. I then tell Nico that I am not gonna have Julie sat outside when I have already said the day before, that we had been @ that city for days, and Julie couldnt get home and that nico had the choice of letting Jenny stay home.. then Nico says if the girls have to sit outside then he would go sit in the cold instead, and let jenny play instead of him. I didnt wanna play with jenny so i told my team that i would not be playing. Nothing was ever about letting Julie get in, it was about Nico risking everything because he didnt want to leave his girlfriend at home and then saying that if the risk didnt payoff he wouldnt play himself but let his girlfriend play.. and I didnt want any of that. Jenny was never registered as the teams manager as HLTV stated above, and i never threadened to boycott anything if julie didnt get in.

We wanted as few people as possible on the set due to some of the crew-members had never produced a show like this. gla1ve is right about the stage thing. The event was held in a TV-studio. A lot of the crew had never produced a show like this and broadcasted it - therefore we took our precautions and decided NO audience nor friends, family etc. and ONLY one manager per team. We did allow them to bring the girls to the building - but not into the studio. But I strongly recommended them not to bring two girls to the building since the only place to stay would be the foyer which wasn't warmed up (they would be freezing for five hours). We wanted absolute silence in the studio so people could focus on working. The problem was not lack of space or anything but the production crew as a whole would like to have the best working conditions possible in order to perform at their best. The decision about no audience was made several months ago - the decision about one manager per team was made a few days before the event since both teams wanted a "manager" to attend. - Editor in chief, Gaming.dk.

I haven't had any say in the judgment or ruling of this case. I only filed the complaint since I was the one arguing/discussing/debating/negotiating with the players. But in my own personal opinion six months ban is not too much in this specific case. Thinking of how many sponsors and viewers who would have been effected by this - plus all the work preparing and the crew working on putting the show together - if gla1ve eventually didn't show up. Even threatening (or suggesting) not to show up is to me very dangerous when it comes to future tournaments since a reaction like that immediately plants a seed of distrust and uncertainty between the player(s) and the people who arrange the tournament. And when we are to pitch a show and tournament like this again it will be difficult to persuade partners and sponsors to support it if we can't even secure that the show will actually take place. That's also why it has been crucial for me personally to file the complaint about gla1ve because I was very surprised of his behavior. Before this I have only had good experiences with him and seen him as a professional player with a very professional mindset. There obviously needed to be stated an example so no other players will be much more less likely to act in that way while attending such tournaments again. - Editor in chief, Gaming.dk.

All three parties are to blame, a simple solution would have been to send both of your girlfriends to some sort of restaurant or coffee shop until your game finished (assuming it took around 2 hours?). I appreciate that, but in reality, if two of the players of a team attending and who have paid for your event are reasonably asking to bring two "spectators" in (their girlfriends, not just two randoms), I would have thought as reasonable people you could accommodate this. Surely the event wasn't packed to the point where 2 females couldn't linger somewhere or sit somewhere? Not that I care btw, at all, it just seems slightly unreasonable from a business point of view.

The problem was not space at all. It was a question of the production crew feeling comfortable having people, who were not working, inside the studio. Also a question of having said "no, sorry" to approximately 100 people who way in advance had asked if there would be tickets for sale. Important note here is that for us the "business point of view" were aimed at the 55.000 viewers who tuned in during the show. We did not aim or expect any sort of publicity through having friends, family, girlfriends, fans or whatever inside the studio. But we will work in the future to get audience inside the studio though - just not during the first show. If your story is true (and for some reason, what you are describing is way more believable). I would be super furious, if I were you. 1) You do NOT have a team, if they have hanged you out to dry like this. Apparently, you were of so little value to Pimp and Co, that they didn't feel the need to correct this story (man... what a bunch of disloyal people). 2) Nico is the most nasty childish person on the scene. I will try to clarify some of the stuff for you that you are writing in your point 3. I'm the one who filed the complaint about gla1ve. Before doing that I did not ask Copenhagen Wolves nor anybody else about "could we blame all the fuzzle on gla1ve?" or "who would be the perfect scapegoat for the 45 minutes delay?". No. I felt secure in my role as being the person from Gaming.dk who were in charge of communicating with both the teams and the crew in the studio. I knew exactly what had happened and what I thought about it. I will admit that I already Saturday got tired of discussing the issue of bringing more than one girlfriend/manager from the Copenhagen Wolves team with Nico. I did believe though that we came to an agreement, Nico and I. Therefore nothing in our (the Gaming.dk crew) decision changed when gla1ve Sunday maintained the demand of bringing a second girlfriend/manager to the studio. I could have filed a complaint about both gla1ve and Nico but since I didn't feel the same amount of resistance and indifference from Nico as I did from gla1ve on the day of the show I decided to file the complaint about gla1ve only. We told the teams that "one manager is allowed per team - we don't care who you choose to be your manager". Yes, it would have solved the problem if we said "no way, no managers - just players" but we honestly thought we were doing the teams a favor by opening the doors for one manager per team. Unfortunately it only caused discord among two of the Copenhagen Wolves players but we didn't wish to interact in their internal debate of who should be the manager of their team. I'll answer you to shed some light upon this as well. gla1ve is completely right about the stage thing. HLTV must have gotten something wrong when citing the story from Gaming.dk. gla1ve wanted his girlfriend in the studio and not on the stage (there were no stage actually). Anyways. We informed your team Friday that it would not be possible to bring more than one person for each team - and that person would have to be there officially as "manager". The reasons for that decision were many as I told both you and Nico and you are already aware of those so I won't repeat them here again. Anyways, that you didn't get the message Friday from your team regarding the decision of not letting more than one girlfriend in is obviously a mistake that might could've eased the situation. I have to disagree strongly though with your claim about never threatening to boycott or stay away from the event. On the phone I told both you and your girlfriend that "I have to know now if staying away is your final call because we will not change our decision one hour before show-start" - and both of you told me that you would not show up if your girlfriend couldn't get access to the studio, as I recall the situation. - Editor in chief, Gaming.dk.

The lack of room was not the problem. We decided several months ago not to have any type of audience in the studio. The reasons for that were many. The main reason: We do not have the financial power like a lot of other organisations to pull a show like this off to perfection. Therefore we had a lot of people working in the studio who have no experience producing television and the equipment we used for this "pilot-project" were not feinschmecker top notch equipment so in order to be ready to act in the best way possible if shit went down on us (technical problems or something like that) we wanted as few people as possible in the studio so the crew could focus and work at their best. The decision of maintaining to not let more than one manager in was made by the entire production-crew in charge and not only by one or two persons. Therefore we stood by our decision till we didn't see any other solution that to let one more girlfriend/manager from Copenhagen Wolves into the studio. Again: That is just the main reason, I can come up with a bunch of reasons if this isn't convincing for you. - Editor in chief, Gaming.dk.

The fact that people question if you are unreasonable not to allow more people is just ridiculous in itself. From my point of view you offered the teams what is reasonable. Having a team + 1 manager is reasonable. Gla1ve and Nico made their issue your issue which is unprofessional as f*ck. Other people can stay in the lobby and its their problem if they want to get cold or not. A grown up person would resolve this after the match with their team. So judging by the information out there, Nico is a dick, Gla1ve is immature. I hope others have the brains to realize this and you don't get bad PR over this nonsense.

I dont agree. There are three parties, the host , gla1ve and Nico. I still see no god damn reason WHY she shouldnt be allowed to be in and just sit 10 meters away from the camera or the players and watch? Its not like they have an audience in there. 1 person is 1 person. We are talking about 1 person. Not a DreamHack audience of 140000 people. And yes, Nico is a dick; gla1ve is immature and both of their girlfriends are selfish in many aspects. But the host has the responsibility to act as a host. I dont know where you have been but the more better teams play a tournament (good national teams or international teams) the more PR they get in every way from spectators to potential new sponsors. Its the players and the teams who put the standard on tournaments and not the prize money. I for an example didnt watch GDK because there was no NiP nor VP.

He already explained that the people working on this project didn't do this a hundred times before. The crew lacked some experience and apparently the crew feels most comfortable if there is only a limited number of people in the studio. Which I can fully understand. Its not strange to feel more pressured knowing more people could pay attention to what you are doing. Furthermore both you and I don't know how much space there is in the studio etc. The event wasn't set-up for spectators. Team + manager is reasonable. GDK communicated this rule timely before the event so every participant was aware of it. You can always argue that one person wouldn't have such a big impact. But its a matter of principle. You can't make rules and than make exceptions for unimportant reasons. Because that is not fair to others you impose your rules on. If you don't see any solid reasoning in that, than we just disagree from a personal value perspective. P.S. You also can't expect that every tournament is organized by people with multiple years of experience. Gaming is a relatively new industry. With new and young people that take cool initiatives on relatively small budgets.

Yes, that was the main reason. This show was - despite of support from partners and sponsors - a rather low-budget production which also meant that not everybody working on the set were top-professionals with years of experience making television. We are not that stupid or ignorant to think that one extra person would change the world. But that close to deadline we would not open the doors for more managers/girlfriends/fans or whatever - especially not when we already had said no to approximately 100 other people who had asked way in advance if they could buy tickets. They had received the same message from us: "The studio will not be open for audience or the public in general this time but we will work on it in the future since this is a 'pilot-project'". As I've stated earlier. The problem was not lack of space or a fire risk as you mentioned. We allowed the teams to bring one "manager" and felt that we already had met their request in a way we felt fair. At some point we needed to draw a line in the sand. - Editor in chief, Gaming.dk.

That the tournament organisation have rules that they want to keep strict (otherwise theyre just gona fall apart sooner or later) I can understand altho it sounds harsh. I guess it started out when Nico, who seems to behave like a 5 year old, just pissed on your request not even answering it, that could be somewhat of a bomb going off I understand. Then again you could of just let your gf take a cab/bus to some sort of mall where she could hang for the day, its not the end of the world. Instead you say you wont play in the tournament, ruining it for both your teammmates, your own orga and the tournament organisers. Well apparently the team knew, that Nico was going to bring his girlfriend, at least gla1ve knew. Maybe nico called dibs on that manager spot. Glaive thought that it would be no problem if he brought his girl as well, but it obviously was. So he pulled the old "well I'm already here the car is full" stunt to which nico replied: Fnck you. Somehow it seems that the rest of the team is taking Nicos side on this battle of giants which makes me think that gla1ve isn't telling the whole story in his posts. And I am not an all-mighty God in the Gaming.dk environment who can control and Voodoo everybody around me. The admins of the tournament are professionals and the most experienced in Denmark. They received my complaint and did their own investigation from there. After that they ruled. I am in no position to rule anything regarding tournament rules in Gaming.dk. I actually don't see it as the CPH Wolves team's mistake what so ever. The team as a whole did not decide to threaten/suggest to stay away with less than one hour before the event should go live. Nico did not do that either. Nico spoke to me the day before the event and tried all day to convince me to persuade the rest of the crew to let them come. I did call the entire production team together twice on Saturday to give them the arguments from the Nico - but the decision stayed the same. I told Nico and believed the problem was solved. From my perspective Nico tried to solve the thing the day before the show. He might have pushed gla1ve to act the way he felt was necessary on the day of the event towards me and the Gaming.dk crew but I can't file a complaint against Nico since he did not break the rules that states how players should behave during Gaming.dk tournaments. Again: The decision was not mine to make. I did not rule the judgment at all but I filed the complaint which was backed up by the tournament rules which every player agreed on upon entering the tournament. I offered Copenhagen Wolves plenty of other suggestions on Saturday of what they could do to figure out a solution. As I told Nico when he arrived: "I cannot argue this thing anymore - we did the discussing yesterday and today I have to focus on the show". But then things escalated. It has always - from the day the tournament was announced - been publicly known that the finals would be held in a TV studio which by definition isn't a publicly available space. When renting the studio we also discussed and decided who to let in. And audience were not a part of that plan. I know that Danish players are used to bring their girlfriends to events but the main difference here is that we paid for the studio and if we only want players, one manager per team and the crew working inside the studio - that should be respected, from our point of view. When we found out that the players wanted to bring girlfriends we agreed to one "manager" for each team. We informed the teams Friday (two days in advance) that they could bring one - and only one - manager. I did my best in the situation to communicate the problem of having extra people inside the studio. I tried to explain thoroughly to everybody involved how the situation was, so you saying that I didn't communicate is a plain lie. Period. It is not my experience that I closed my ears to anyone since we tried to work around various solutions and I certainly did not do anything in order to force money out of any persons hands. I have not once in this process suggested what the ruling in the case should be. Frederik "realition" Byskov and the rest of the owners of Gaming.dk can confirm that since I actively said to them: "I will stay out of everything regarding the decision-making of ruling because I feel I have been too involved in the situation". I can assure you that I will not be suggesting any re-ruling in this case since the dispute has never been between Gaming.dk and Copenhagen Wolves as a team.

There are rules for players and teams who participated in the tournament. Can't see why he shouldn't be able to find them with a little bit of research. The ruling hasn't been made by me but by the admins of the tournament and I trust they know the rules and in what manner they can put the rules into effect.

Secondly you cant just assume that people agree with the rules. If you do that , then admins can change the rules by the second and still all should agree , that’s a dangerous path to travel. If you visit some place, let's say a bath or a sauna, you don't have to sign a contract to get in, still there are rules and if you do not follow them they throw you out or ban you from that place or initiate further steps. That you need some form of signed contract to enforce rules in some private event is just not true.

I'm not an expert on Danish law, so you could be right. I'm pretty sure they can ban him even infinitely if they like, even without reasons given. He can maybe get rid of the fine if he goes to court and spends a lot of time and money on a lawyer.

I don't understand your "no answer equals NO" logic but here are the rules: gaming.dk/turnering/gdkcsgo/regler. My core competence is not to be an admin or assess whether the rules are valid or not. I will leave that to the admins in charge but I will pass your concerns on to them so they can follow up on that. I don't see this as washing my own hands. I'm only active in this thread because people began speculating in what happened and what didn't happen. I contributed to this thread only to bring the story from my point of view since the HLTV-crowd has a history of going apeshit on stories like these. I don't think the admins are washing their hands either. They don't tend to discuss their rulings on HLTV and I don't think they plan on starting now. You are welcome though to send an e-mail to them if you have questions or complaints.

Well, sorry for putting it this way, but either this is bullshit, or gla1ve's story. As he said, he told Nico in advance that his GF is in town, and she's gonna come to the show as the +1. Yet, Nico has brought his GF instead. I don't know what you guys have investigated, but this - in my opinion - is Nico's fault, and you should have also filed a complaint about him. On the other hand, gla1ve should have told you guys about his GF coming, not just his team, that would have avoided this situation, but I believe he trusted them. Now for the other part. He said he had some "personal issues". I'm not a psychic, or anything like that, but based on the situation, I believe they might have had some issues with his GF. If you were in a situation like that, would you tell your girl to go wherever she wants to for about 7 hours? Believe me, you can only try that just once... you will get no second chance. TL;DR: I'm with gla1ve on this one :)

I have no intentions of lying or twisting the truth in this case nor fill anyone with bullshit. It is very unfortunate that we were not aware of the extent of the dispute between the players but bottom line is that it was gla1ve who directly broke the rules of players behavior. You could argue that if what gla1ve tells is the truth Nico has behaved unprofessional as well but he did not confront the production crew with an ultimatum of not showing up and that is the key thing here.

We write a ton of positive stories as well. All it needs to find out is a short check through the archives on Gaming.dk. Not much of an negative era in that. Informing the public about stories like this one with gla1ve and the Dignitas-boycott is not unusual. Not at all. And you will see that in every other parts of journalism as well.

Frostfire, the production company behind this production, made a very reasonable decision, that the studio shouldn't have any visitors others then people a part of the production. This is very standard when producing television. Only participants, crew or the likes that has a value for the production are allowed in the actual studio. Any people aside from the one manager (a manager could have had a value to the teams) would have to wait outside the actual studio (still inside the building, but in the lobby.) This was also what the teams were told. However, they did not accept this.

As usual I tried my best to solve the things even before it went down. I can not control every single movement the players on my team makes. I wish I could, cause things like this would never have taken place if I could. I try my best to represent everyone, bare in mind when you attend a tournament you have to respect the people behind it. This time gla1ve let our team, MyXMG, and whole motherfucking production crew down, acting like a litle douce. Not only did I try to talk him into sence being VERY reasonable, as usual, I also got told right in my face to "FUCK OFF!!" after I tried help what I trought was a good friend of mine. This hardly comes as a surprise for me, as I know the mentaility between the danish players. Respect for others intrest is something that is close to non existing, I can not count how many times I've gotten into arguments with team mates and friends, cause I stod up for what I believe was right looking from both perspectives. If you don't own that ability you should propely just keeo your mouth shutted, as 99% of the things leaving it would be complete bullshit. I dont mind to comment more on the issue, people can go figure them self, after all what means something to me and my team, is that the people involed agrees in our way handling this matter. Gla1ve and everyone else can keep trying to justify what happend, truth is its impossible. Laying down flat on the stomach and excuse is the best advice I can give. One I honestly didn't trought was necessary in this case, but hey, I apprantly still gets surprised. Sometimes you tries your best, and still end up losing games in CS:GO, truth is the same goes on for taking care of your teams. In fact you specific don't even deserve an answer, seeing how you dare to insult, and speak like an idiot. This somehow confirms, that there are always two (if not more) sides of the story. Reading the HLTV.org and G.DK news, I obviously had negative thoughts of gla1ve. Reading his statement, I felt sympathy for him. Reading your statement, I see how many different sides of the story there are. Anyways, nobody on here can really judge anyone (except all of you, the involved), but I see this rather between Nico, gla1ve (their girlfriends) and Gaming.dk, why I also understand why you feel betrayed and why you are mad - very understandable. f this is the real version. Which people in HLTV Forums believe it is. Read this statements by glaive. They sound pretty honest. "Nothing was ever about letting Julie get in. Read Pimp's statement in #568. You can tell from Gaming.dk, gla1ve, Pimp, HLTV and more actors, that there are several personal stories to this subject, and that one version of the story is not an option (there are ALWAYS two sides of a story). This means, that it would not be totally right to connect gla1ve with the word "innocent." gla1ve might have a side of the story, which I don't claim to be false. In the same way, Pimp has his side of the story. Whatever is right, is impossible to know - however, you should not be judging either parts, but at the same time, you can blame all parts. Hope this makes sense, just to say that nobody is better than the other. View it like this. gla1ve was treated unfair by Nico - Pimp and G.DK was treated unfair by gla1ve (maybe, we don't know). Lol ended up as a bad explanation, hope you understand mate.
