Cloud9 add ShahZaM; Hiko out

Cloud9 have replaced longtime player Spencer "⁠Hiko⁠" Martin with Shahzeb "⁠ShahZaM⁠" Khan from Denial.

As confirmed by the team's management itself, Hiko will be stepping down as an active member of Cloud9's lineup.

Hiko departs from Cloud9's lineup

Former Denial player ShahZaM will be filling out the lineup in Martin's stead.

With a long history at the ESEA Invite level of North American CS, ShahZaM will presumably be drawn upon for his AWP skills, which were on full display at ESEA S17 LAN last weekend.

ShahZaM helped lead Denial to their underdog win over Cloud9 at ESEA LAN

Regarding the lineup change, team manager Tres "stunna" Saranthus had this to say:

"We have assembled a lineup capable of giving it’s all in the spirit of competition. It is my job to build the team and the players themselves, and in 2015 I plan to continue to do that starting with the reintroduction of Shahzeb 'ShahZam' Kahn," Saranthus said.

With these changes, Cloud9's lineup currently consists of:

Jordan "⁠n0thing⁠" Gilbert

Mike "⁠shroud⁠" Grzesiek

Kory "⁠SEMPHIS⁠" Friesen

Sean "⁠seang@res⁠" Gares

Shahzeb "⁠ShahZaM⁠" Khan

Yah, Nitro is good. But he is not hiko. Hiko is undoubtedly best rifler in NA. Yah I agree, swag and hiko both r lurkers. But iBP plays a lot skill heavy game anyway. And hiko, swag and ska are top 3 players in NA. It would be fun to see them in the same team. :)

6-12 months ago hiko was considered the greatest rifle NA because he carried several NA teams further than any other NA team has gone. still true now area 51 w/ dazed winning esea and several good EU placements coL taking 4th at a major w/ swag + some decent EU finishes hiko was the best player on both of those lineups, and each one had current ibp players. better than you can say for nitr0

To those paying attention, Hiko has been under preforming lately, more so than Semphis and Sgares, I would've liked to see him turn things around with C9 but I feel like he didn't even sound motivated with the team anymore which is maybe why he's playing worse, either way I think Hiko leaving C9 could be good for both him and the team, Shazam will AWP for sure, Sgares will likely be primarily a rifler now like he wanted to be in the first place and we'll have to see how things go, Shazam has to prove his worth big time now.

i am indian and let me tell you, being indian is actually a great thing. we have beautiful people and we have ugly people. just like any race. I for 1 am a great person, have great friends, and i take care of every one that is in my life and i am glad to do it, and for that i have people that love me around me. also, indian parents are one of the best parents you can have. sometimes they can be really strict, but they will take care of you no matter what, and they will buy you what ever it is that you need. as long as your not a selfish ****head. Also, we all have great jobs, lots of money and a family that we all love and take care off.

This is a great addition to the team. Now they can play 5v5 with a pretty good awp instead of 4v5, then 1vx. Hiko is a great player but I never saw him do much in terms of team play, unfortunately. I do still think naf-fly would be a great addition as well, but not sure who he'd replace. I look forward to seeing some games from this new lineup and I sincerely hope they'll re-think their strategic approach to the game. In the last few tournaments it has been questionable at best, they need to learn how to play better as a team and not sacrifice one player at a time. Also, it's about time we see some energy out of this team as well. They all look tired and bored when playing. They need to hype each other up (every single round, in every single game) and find the passion again.

i believe in sgares. he is a good leader overall and his fragging numbers can go up if he uses rifles. As for semphis i believe that he isnt the player that he used to be in 2012/2013. We see glimpses of his skill sometimes but overall he isnt so good anymore. i would like to see a team consisting of n0thing, shahzam, sgares, shroud and 1 heavy rifler (i would pick desi)

Sgares has improved his rifling quite a bit, if shroud can be the star they need him to be, with n0thing finding a proper role (perhaps lurk?) Then shazham may be able to have good game impact with his awp and gares/semphis can have a good support system. They NEED shroud to be that star now though, shazham too.

Well first off, congrats to Shahzam for getting the opportunity all aspiring (and probably some current) pro players hope for in landing a spot on a mainstream team. With that said, has anyone come out and said why there is an "NA Shuffle" in the first place? Aside from trying to improve the NA CSGO quality and scene, is this the best method? Hiko wouldn't have been my choice but I'm sure c9 has their reasons, as does Hiko. Gg wp, we'll see how it goes.
