Hiko rules out retirement

Former Cloud9 member Spencer "Hiko" Martin has guaranteed that he will not retire from gaming.

The North American player is currently without a team after parting ways with Cloud9, who filled the void by recruiting Shahzeb "⁠ShahZaM⁠" Khan from Denial.

Soon after the changes were announced, Cloud9 member Mike "⁠shroud⁠" Grzesiek said on his stream that it was not the team's fault that Spencer "⁠Hiko⁠" Martin "stopped playing or rather quit", which led to speculation that the former Area51 and Quantic Gaming member was weighing up retirement.

Hiko is currently assessing his options

However, Hiko quickly took to Twitter to dismiss such rumours and to underline that he will continue to play.

I will be continuing my career in CSGO, this is by no means a retirement move, big things are coming. 2015 will be a year to remember.

Steel did it for Source initially, and moved to the UK, which is pretty much why it didn't work out. GO took off not too long after his move to mTw, the team constantly shifted rosters, and it just never went anywhere. At the time, the UK scene in Source was still pretty strong. Definitely not the case in GO, obviously.

I think Hiko was the only one on C9 who actually cared about the game, besides maybe shroud. The others are just playing it for money. Hiko will probably find a more motivated team... I feel like he's got the hunger to be a champion.

I doubt Hiko would have an issue teaming up with DaZeD again. The only reason he didn't stick with DaZeD the first time was because he's a good friend with Semphis, and they hated each other. It just put Hiko in an awkward spot.

Hiko's CSGO career is still far from over IMHO. Much respect for the courage to be the one to make the move everyone, apparently except for c9, knew needed to be made. Time will tell if this was the right move but kudos to Hiko for taking action. GL HF and most definitely WP'd sir.
