MLG X Games Qual. #1 set to start

The first North American Championship qualifier for MLG X Games Aspen will kick off tonight, with 16 teams taking part in the tournament.

Hosted by CEVO, the first of two North American Championship Qualifiers will run from December 15-18 and feature the top eight sides from the first regional open qualifier and eight teams invited by MLG.

Just like its European counterpart, the North American qualifier will use a single-elimination, best-of-three format, with the winning side securing a place at MLG X Games Aspen, from January 23-25.

One of the most interesting aspects about this qualifier is that it will provide fans with the opportunity to see iBUYPOWER and Denial fielding their new rosters after they picked up Sam "DaZeD" Marine and Eric "adreN" Hoag, respectively.

C9 should be in this. They're entirely undeserving of an a pre-qual invite.

Are any NA teams not entirely undeserving of a pre-qual invite?

Exactly. That's why C9 shouldn't get to be "special". They're just as sketchy and inconsistent as the rest.

True, but it'd look pretty bad if they only invited EU teams to an NA event. I suppose C9 is just the most famous/popular over there?

It takes away from the validity somewhat if a country with no genuine superpower gets a pass because one of the teams is a bit more publicly visible than the others. It doesn't much matter to the kind of people that are going to be watching on TV or if they stumble upon it by accident. But CS, along with Quake, have extremely small casual followings. We're going to know that C9 sucks and doesn't belong there based on their lack of merit.

I understand whAt youre trying to say, but i think you need to look up what a lot of those words you used actually means. Anyways, no they need a popular NA team to be there for an NA event in irder to have casual NA ca players (a huge market) to watch the games.

That's perfectly understood, but it's essentially lying to those casual fans and a disservice to the many, many more hardcore fans that games like CS have. They'd have been better off selling the qualifier as a great big heaping event full of American pride and shit instead of letting C9 limp in and forcing a couple of what are certainly better teams to battle unseen. C9 gets to look like heros when they're the most downtrodden and defeated of any of the top three or four teams NA has. As above, I understand why. But it's just a shitty way to do business.

Nah just use a dictionary next time. But you said thats a bad way to do business when you just described every reason as to why its a good business move.

So help me out, then. And I described who it's bad for. The number of casuals < number of hardcores with CS. They're better off showing us the nitty gritty of things that people like you and I and tens of thousands of other hardcore fans will appreciate than a clean and sanitized version of an untruth.

If this was esea or another organisation/lan thats been around for a while, then i would agree with you. But this is the first mlg tournament featuring go. They want to capture the largest audiences possible and show that they are all inclusive in the counterstrike world for their first major tournament, and arguably the largest tournament in NA history for csgo.

I just went to the streaming site, I guess they want to stream no name teams over the teams that everyone wants to see. Guess we know why everyone thinks mlg is a joke.

There is not one. They will not stream it because it isn't on csgolounge. That was the answer I got when I asked on stream.
