ESEA responds to Virtus.pro
ESEA have issued an official response to Virtus.pro's statement, where they blamed ESEA for not paying out prizes to the organization.
Earlier today Virtus.pro issued a statement threatening to boycott certain event organizations, if they did not pay out the outstanding prize money from their previous events.
Soon after Copenhagen Games and ESEA were removed from the list of organizations who still owed Virtus.pro money. Now ESEA have issued their official response.
"Today Virtus Pro released a statement about large amounts of prize money owed to the organization and wrongfully mentioned ESEA. For ESEA the Season 17 LAN Playoffs, which concluded on Sunday, December 7, North American players elected for checks onsite while Fnatic, Titan, and mousesports were paid extremely promptly via bank wire or PayPal within days of the event but Virtus Pro still has not turned in their bank account information for payment (they requested payment to a different bank account than to where their previous season’s winnings were sent). We followed up with the team’s manager on December 14, 18, and 22 but still have not gotten the bank account information for prize payment and still await the information," Craig "Torbull" Levine said on ESEA.
"While other eSports acronyms have gone defunct (CPL, WSVG, CGS, IPL, WCG, etc.) or others abandoned CS, ESEA has remained committed to CS for over ten years and has awarded $876,890 in prize money to date. Prize money for our ESEA Invite Division has traditionally been paid onsite at our events via checks and to those needing bank wires within days of the event. Our other divisions are paid typically within 7 business days of receiving completed paperwork; not in 60, 90, 180, or in many cases longer or unpaid.
"We are disappointed to see ESEA wrongfully lumped into a group of unpaid tournament organizers by the Virtus Pro post and are working in privately with Virtus Pro to further clarify the situation."
Virtus.pro attended ESEA Invite Finals in both Season 16 and Season 17, finishing in third and second place, respectively.
