MLG X Games Aspen groups drawn

Groups for MLG X Games Aspen running from January 23-25 have just been drawn on MLG's eSports Report stream.

Only minutes ago MLG drew the groups for the $50,000 MLG X-Games Aspen tournament, which features four teams fom Europe, joined by Brazilian KaBuM and three North American teams.

We will see the former teams from iBUYPOWER and mouseSpaz fighting an uphill battle, as two world's best teams LDLC and fnatic have been drawn to them in the clearly harder group B.

dignitas	LDLC
NiP	fnatic

Group A on the other hand will see NiP alongside dignitas and Cloud9, both of which they have a good record against, while the last spot is filled by KaBuM, featuring Brazil's star Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo.

The groups will be played in a round-robin format with two teams advancing to the single elimination best-of-three playoffs. The exact schedule for the tournament will be released tomorrow.

C9 could def beat dig iif dig has not made a drastic change in their t sides. But for real man, i feel like ibp has gotten the short end of the stick for group deaws in all of 2014 except for faceit. Maybe one day they can catch a break.

naw they also barely made it out of groups at faceit lan. shit was pretty intense. i think they still have a decent chance but its slim. but there is a good chance c9 can beat both nip and dignitas. they re still the underdogs but beats being the %10 team in a match. its more like 70-30, 60-40. all depends on how they scrimmed, team strats etc. c9, dig, nip are all relatively playing with a newish roster. even tho their rosters are not that much different from before, their play styles have changed a lot. same goes for c9. and this off season was kinda long. so nobody knows what to expect from anyone. i dont even know if c9 is top 5 na anymore. or if dig will not choke without fetish.

they ve been losing a lot of scrims lately tho. i dont know how well the new squad will mesh together. they re probably are good enough to make top 4 esea to make it to lan since torqued is in premier but we will see how good they are or what their exact ceiling is during a major qualifier. agree with the ibp thing tho. except for dhw. that penta t side inferno strats were just ridiculous.

Well yah, DHW ibp choked, nothing more to say there. I wish I could say they got screwed but they screwed themselves there. Also something to keep in mind, even when c9 was in their top form, they came in 4th in ESEA invite standings for NA. They've never been that good online. Hopefully that will change.

I'm just gonna say that nip never played good a minor comp! They always play good in majors... like dreamhack winter 14, where they played very good, but before dh14 they were loosing some easy matches! I would keep an eye on c9, with the new awper they may play good!

50k in total, so the first will get like 20k idk, i'm guessing. i watched a lot of nip after esl and before dh14, they were playing like yolo. I may think that nip trains just for majors. But who knows :) By the way, you can't say that an awper is better than an other one with out seeing them in a match, shahzam used to play for denial but now he plays for c9, that is a big difference!

I fell that you never seen a c9 game.... c9 had a lot of problem, hiko was always at the bottom, sgares was not a good awper and there wasn't any chemistry between the players...so they might fixed those problems. I never said that shahzam is better than maikelele, i just said that you can't judge without knowing! Cloud9 could be a better team with a real awper! And i'm not saying that nip will get destroyed by c9, but it will be a close match

Doesn't make sense to put LDLC and fnatic in the same group. Based on recent results, they should clearly be the first two seeds, and therefore be on two separate groups, expecting them to both top their respective group and move-on in the playoffs on opposite sides... Now we have unbalanced groups, and neither of those two teams are really punished for not topping their group, since they'll avoid each other in the bracket anyway. Anyway, let's hope the group stage is Bo3.
